I believe as creepy as this is, that it's better to have them use dolls then real children. The argument that it "solidifies" the attraction to children makes no sense to me. They are already attracted to children, how will using a sex toy make things worse? I mean adults fantasize about all sorts of strange things, some women fantasize about rape, doesn't mean it encourages them to try to get raped in real life. Or some people might fantasize about having group sex in public doesn't mean they would ever actually do so or even want to. All studies show that higher access to pornography equals less violence and lower rape statistics. More repressed areas with no porn, have much higher rape stats. So wouldn't these toys be like porn? a safe way to release urges without actually hurting anyone?
I think people are more concerned about their emotional response then the actual success of preventative measures. Even if these dolls reduced child molestation i bet people would still have them banned just because it makes them uncomfortable. I think people need to put aside their instinctual anger and repulsion to have a serious talk about what helps pedophiles not become predators and what helps children not become victims. If these dolls save real children then hand them out on every corner! Most pedophiles hate the thoughts they have, and don't want to hurt anyone, it is only the pedophiles who also happen to be narcissists or lack empathy that would harm children. It is this exact stigma of people screaming "kill and castrate the pedo's" that stops people from seeking help. We must show some degree of compassion for the sufferer of pedophilia in order to protect children, the more they are alienated the more likely they are to offend.

Many guys who use dolls want nothing to do with women, they lose interest because they can release their impulses on the doll. I could see how either side could be right. Either it makes a person more likely to harm a child by encouraging his pedophilic urges, or it makes a person less likely to harm a child by satisfying his pedophilic urges. Only empirical evidence could tell us, and I'm not aware that any studies have been done on child sex dolls' effect on a person's likelihood of harming a child. I think we should hold off on criminalizing this until we have such evidence, being wrong, either way, would be harmful to children.
I don’t really know how to opine. If I think from my couples perspective, she got ReALLy obsessed when we lost our child... and I know she would like to continue with a bigger “therapy” toy/doll just to clear out her mind (and I can’t think of any other realistic prospect options). The argument they presented are dumb and baseless. Having a child sex doll means they are preping for the next step. This can easily turn around and go, well if the sex doll satisfy their desire, they would likely to reduce the need to perform it on a real child. So who is to say which route the pedo will take. As wrong as it may be, people need to judge this matter from a completely neutral point of view, and not trying to act like hero of Justice and deny everything that can even lean slightly toward the other side.
As least you are trying to think about it instead of actually feeling it out like most do. Two things:
1) most of these dolls are made in China where the age of consent is 12 years old. To them its completely fine, to those in the US, it's sickening. It's a cultural difference.
2) The smaller the dolls are, the less expensive it is to make them. The manufacturing process is quite simple really, the equivalent of making a sofa or car seat. The price is still high (in the thousands) because men have a sex drive which drives them to stick their dick inside of anything resembling a woman hence the demand is high. The smaller the doll, the cheaper they are since they don't resemble a full sized woman and they use less material.

This is Norway, they have a better justice system over there. There max security prison has a 16% recidivism rate. They actually try to put the person thru therapy rather than throw him to the wolves like in the US.

You are conflicting the term pedophilia with child sexual abuse, which are two entirely different things. Pedophilia is simply the sexual attraction to prepubescents, and the vast majority of those with this condition live their entire lives without ever harming a child. And no, at least not in America, there is not one case of a doll owner having hands on offense with a real child. Sexologist and Psychologist are currently working to see how well dolls treat these desires and what can be said for certain so far is that yes it does help some people, and there is no evidence of it causing hands on abuse.
