I wish we could do that. I do try to plan more than 1 day, but a week???? 😜 we used to do that when they were younger. Now I’ve decided I actually like more half weeks off than full weeks. It feels like more breaks!!! 😉
I did that last year also! I still consider it school bc the christmas unit we did had so much history and recipes (I consider cooking, food science! 😜😜😜) and managing money for gifts is math! But we have to do SOME more this year but it will be minimal like adding in math. But December is DEFINITELY more relaxed!
You're right that lots of ideas for homeschool aren't necessarily attached to a curriculum or a subject. I need to get more organized with keeping note of books I want to buy sometime...because I see them, I'm interested in them...but when I'm actually about to buy any books, I can't remember what they were. lol! Our family always had the tradition that the birthday kid got that day off of school, but the other kids did schoolwork. haha!
That’s just mean!!! Lol!!! Another thing I do to remember books…..I have an amazon wishlist for homeschool and homeschool books. I throw ideas there also. I don’t necessarily buy from amazon bc I usually try the used books first. But the list is there.
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan when my husband asks me what I want for Christmas or my bday I say “anything on my homeschool book list” 🤣🤣 He says “that doesn’t count.”
We keep folders with core work as we need!!! We homeschool year round but summers are slower and we take more breaks unless we have more trips. We do take homeschool work on the plane tho but enjoy our trip!!! We don’t do school on birthdays either or Easter weekend or Christmas Day!!! We have started having 1 to 1 meetings at a coffee shop to discuss how school is going especially independent work as my daughter asked for it and I thought my boys would like to do it as well!!
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan typically, we take a week in July or August (yes, after starting in July), then a week in October & two week for Christmas. Then just days here and there as needed! Yes, we do 4 day weeks.
I have a spreadsheet for curriculum I’m considering along with prices. My husband likes to know the numbers. I also have lists for the following year WAY early. My husband is like “you barely started this year!” 🤷🏻♀️ I like curriculum and I’m pretty much always reasearching. It’s a hobby. ❤️ I love those highlighters!
These highlighters are sooooo awesome!! I’m with you on always looking at curriculum ! I already have TOO MANY IDEAS for next year! I had way too many ideas for this year also but didn’t realize it until I’d already filmed my videos saying “this is what we’re going to do!” That’s usually how it goes. Lofty plans. And then the first few weeks of school say, “ok…now what are we REALLy gonna do!!!” 😂
How do you track ALL of the ideas that come to you for a school year??
Loving the yellow happy pillow... Yes, I have a notebook nearby for brain dump...
We usually do, birthday week break. Hahaha... 6 weeks on 1 week off. If it falls within the 6 weeks on, we just move it around.
December is our off month and just do Christmas unit study.

I LOVE my happy pillow!!!!! Thank you!!! I bought it at a furniture store, but Its on amazon too. Here’s a link!! amzn.to/3y80CHW

As always. Love your content, perspective and quality of videos. Thanks!
Thank you!
We don’t do school on birthdays either!
Also, I agree, better binders are the BEST!
It’s just WRONG to have to work on your birthday!!! 😜🎂
Your color coded calendar looks a lot like mine.
Great minds think alike!! 😜

@@faithfullyinfertile awe!!! That’s a nice response! My husband would totally say homeschool stuff counts!

I love the coffee shop idea!!! I’ve thought of that! My girls would love it. My son would think it was waste of time to drive there. 😜😜😜
We start around mid July and end in May as well. We take off on bdays too!
So what breaks do you do? Or you do a 4 day week, right?
