    In this video, we unveil an innovative and eco-friendly method on how to get rid if slugs and snails using a simple water barrier! Say goodbye to harmful chemicals and ineffective home remedies like copper tape and crushed eggshells which fail to act as repellents. And rest assured your pets and wildlife won't be harmed.
    "How to get rid of slugs" and "How to get rid if snails" are questions we hear a lot as people want better slug control than conventional methods currently provide. and that's why we at stop slugs have come up with new ways we implement slug control using natural slug repellents.
    Why This Method Works:
    We'll demonstrate how a water barrier creates an effective naultural repellent that slugs and snails can't cross, keeping your plants and vegetables safe from these persistent pests. By using water, we create a natural and non-toxic deterrent that won't harm the environment or the beneficial organisms in your garden.
    Eco-Friendly Benefits:
    Unlike copper, which can be ineffective, or eggshells that often fail to stop determined slugs, a water barrier is completely safe and sustainable. This method reduces waste and avoids introducing potentially toxic substances into your garden.
    Also at the end i'll give you a glimpse of the slugstand which is a product to help stand your plants out of harms way. a slug stand.

    What a coincidence - I've just repaired my dad's greenhouse and am starting to grow some stuff and the thought of using water as a barrier came to mind. I was thinking of using guttering in a ring to make a moat, but realised it would probably take up too much space to be useful.
    These pot stands are a pretty genius solution! I've got some old plastic tub lids I've been using as trays for my containers, I think using one at the bottom full of water and the others balanced on upturned pots would work well. I'm going to give it a go tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration 👍

      No problems Captainslowbeard, glad i could help you find a solution! That sounds like it will work well, just make sure the water can be deep enough and make sure nothing is too close to the glass and should be good!

      @@stopslugs Hi! So you could in effect design a guttering system to keep slugs at bay of certain areas in your garden. My boss was complaining about slugs around his herb garden which is a round rockery about 2meters in diameter: easy. Stopslugs is already brilliant branding. You can also do the garden guttering planning service.
      Also I find it fundamentally interesting the altruistic cooperation. I wonder if was accidental, or rudimentary thinking. I would get in touch with a university biology department and show them... Good luck with the brand!

    • @themonkeymanofStockbridge
      @themonkeymanofStockbridge Месяц назад +1

      an experiment I would suggest would be to compare different species ability to find the solution. It would be super interesting to have a comparison in levels of intelligence in gastropods. : ) I had an exam once in Costa Rica where I had to name the internal organs of a dissected slug... was pretty cool. I remember the radula, The liver and the kidney vaguely

    • @stopslugs
      @stopslugs  Месяц назад +1

      @@themonkeymanofStockbridge It would seem it's that simple as long as you can maintain the water levels! Most guttering i'd imagine would evaporate to levels too low in a few days. But you could dig a donut shaped pond! Ha, i wonder if that's a known fact that slugs and snails cooperate already.

      @themonkeymanofStockbridge Месяц назад +1

      @@stopslugs Honestly I do not think it is a known fact. Joking apart, establishing intelligence in slugs or comparatively comparing between species. For a biologist this is definitely very interesting that is a pretty interesting area of study.

    Can you put guttering on the floor as a moat around a veg patch and post the results, I think most if not all slugs will decide not to cross it

    What if the wind just blows it over? Then its all for nothing :/

    • @stopslugs
      @stopslugs  Месяц назад +2

      Yes, i did think of that and there are 4 screwholes in the top of each slugstand and the central pillar isn't too narrow to help with stability. Using two together and securing it properly should mean the wind is no problem! Unless extreme :)

    Just put salt in the water - all insects will stay away, especially slugs and snails.

    • @stopslugs
      @stopslugs  Месяц назад +2

      All non flying insects will for sure, however if the wateroverflows you may not want salt in the earth in that area, one thing to consider if it's not in a sheltered area.
