You gotta give props to Kelsey Grammer’s line delivery on his backstory of “spending a lifetime on a dime store shelf watching every other toy be sold”. He really sells the heartache and pain he had to endure over those years and he kept hidden inside him until Jessie’s “This isn’t fair” line prompted him to finally let it out. He really does make you sympathize with him for a moment even when he’s taking control of the other toys to ensure his personal fulfillment of going to Japan.
Yeah, the Prospector being a twist villain was like one of the most underrated aspects of TS2! He was so damn intriguing, giving his backstory of being such a poor leftover toy on a shelf at a lowprice store. Which honestly one simply cannot help but relate too. We all seek to be a part of an expanded community
The thing I loved about the Toy Story OG trilogy is the villains (Sid Philips, Stinky Pete and Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear) are both dark reflections of what Woody could've been and redefine his purpose of what does it mean for a toy that make a child happy.
As a toy collector myself, I have to disagree with this. I still have fun and gain enjoyment from buying, collecting, and displaying them. Is that the whole purpose of toys? The toys are still being played with, but very differently than a child.
