Holy shit those airbag clips were almost the end of me. You need a bright ass led flashlight, phone light didnt cut it for me. I had to turn the wheel in a way that the holes were facing the floor. Once i got the light and crawled under the wheel i could finally see the damn clips. Hope and praying that helps someone who was struggling like me!
JUSTIN!!! I know your info was 3 years ago, BUT THANK YOU BROTHER!!! The ONLY way I saw those darn clips was to turn each hole to the bottom towards the floor as you say!! Then it was EASY!! God bless you man! Seriously!!
I just got the wheel I ordered from you guys, took maybe 20 minutes to get it done. Couldn't be happier, thank you for providing the install video as well!
Best way to disconnect the initial tabs (the metal pins he removes later and transfers to the new wheel) holding the airbag in is to shine a bright light into the holes until you see what looks like a straightened paper clip end. Might have to turn the wheel to see them all. Just use a flathead to gently push the clip in and you'll hear it pop.
I’m so stoked on this video. I was really nervous about swapping my wheel by myself but this made it a piece of cake, and my carbon and leather wheel looks REALLY GOOD😍🙌 peace from Maui Subiespeed!
Just got done putting mine in. Was a big pain. Getting those airbag clips is hard on the left and right and they’re hard to see. Had to actually get help from my father who was a former mechanic and he spent an hour finding them. Finally found them and got them installed. Having someone with a mechanical background and lots of patience will definitely help you get the airbag off. The rest is pretty easy, even with a CVT.
Guys, those darn air bag clips!!! Justin saved a few of us with just one tip! Turn the steering wheel so EACH of those 3 holes face the floor!! Then you can easily see each clip and it's a breeze!!!
@@rekonize007ify Unfortunately yes. When I replaced the clockspring the stupid "steering wheel position sensor" was unhappy. Since the car thought the steering wheel was out of turn it decided to kill the airbag, cruise control, the paddle shifter, and the hill climb assist. It's 350 dollars for an OEM clockspring and another 200 dollars to have the dealership reset the computer. For a piece of freaking plastic... I'm so glad we sold that stupid car.
You guys should make exhaust videos using various J pipes combined with different catbacks for the 2015+ wrx! I have the tomei catback and have never heard what a catted j pipe would sound like with it. It would be awesome if you guys could do that
The hardest part for me was getting the airbag out. I have a European version with keyless entry, so I had to see how I could turn the steering wheel without the steering lock coming on. I noticed that on my STI only one cable goes from the clock spring to the airbag. I do have the small gray cable. The steering wheel was really stuck after 9 years. I had to pull hard to get it loose. Later I noticed the two small threaded holes next to the center nut. Has no one thought that you can put a pulley puller on this?
VERY NICE DIY INSTALL.!!!!! I noticed in recap presentation of all 4 available steering wheel options at the end of this vlog DIY the JB model shown in the vlog is not the actual JB model steering wheel as it appears on the SUBISPEED website.
The JB Style steering wheel has the leather top with a carbon fiber bottom which is shown in this video and on our website. Are you referring to a different video maybe?
+SubiSpeed Well, correct me if I'm wrong but on your SUBISPEED website the SUBISPEED WRX steering wheel center piece ( Used for the cars horn and houses the air bag) on the JB model is longer covering a large portion of the plastic lower steering cover. The JB model in the new Vlog is not made this way, or is the JB model on the website comprised of the OEM SUBARU Forester, BRZ, or Crosstrek steering wheel center piece?
Aww on the website yes it is using the Forester center piece. This wheel actually fits most models. We test fit on the forester and used that center piece in the photo to show it fits multiple vehicles. More on that coming.
Did the install, but to make the car go straight, I have to hold the wheel at a slight angle. Am I one tooth of fon the spine, or did I move the clock spring while installing (not sure if that matters)
Mine has been like that since my install also. Been a few years. The epoxy cracked around the red ring so I will be going back to stock. Hopefully i can re-align it.
I have been wanting the CP Style steering wheel! So take my money already!!! haha! You just sent my order out for shipping according to the order status. I look forward to receiving it!
Can. One popped up for me and it turns out I didn't press the tabs down on the airbag connections (orange and black) when I reconnected. (The tabs on top that you initially disconnect with the flat head)
@subiespeed I have a hyperblue 16 Sti. And I wanna buy a wheel but if I do I dot. Want the red stitching:(. I would like to keep the blue stitching. I hope you guys come out a wheel for the hyperblue
I recently purchased one of your steering wheels and wondered how long you let the car sit with the battery disconnected before removing the air bag. Not trying to have it blow up in my face.
I really like your videos. I have subispeed DRL sequential headlights. The 5 vertical LEDs on one side are out. Can't find anything online to solve the problem.
You said to reconnect the battery temporarily after you have the airbag unit removed....wouldn't that set an airbag light that you would have to take it to the dealer in order for it to be erased? Also, are the splines on the wheel and steering column keyed, or do you have to make a mark to ensure correct alignment?
hey do you guys have any info on other aftermarket steering wheels trying to install a personal steering wheel and cannot figure out the horn function any info would help thanks
Got My PK wheel a couple weeks ago. It is pretty awesome. Wheel shape is great and a much needed improvement over stock. The stock "leather" or whatever the hell it is, is poopoo. Loving the suede.
One popped up for me and it turns out I didn't press the tabs down on the airbag connections (orange and black) when I reconnected. (The tabs on top that you initially disconnect with the flat head)
Great vid. quick question, when reinstalling the steering wheel, how much pressure do you put to ensure it sits on the column the way it is supposed to? Should it be as deep so the column and steering wheel splines are flush or there will be some depth left and after the install, I will still see the steering wheel splines that sit above the column?
Hey i have a red wrx 15, and its an automatic and so to use my sport shirt, the + and - pedals are behind the steering wheel! Are you able to install a brand new after market steering wheel and still keep the sport shift pedals at the back to keep my sport shift working?
No, we don't have any installs on these unfortunately. Most of these pieces we offer are pretty straight forward. Mock up the piece and drill for hardware would be the most complicated steps for install on these particular parts.
Holy shit those airbag clips were almost the end of me. You need a bright ass led flashlight, phone light didnt cut it for me. I had to turn the wheel in a way that the holes were facing the floor. You saved my sanity. Thank you 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Can’t find them for shit
JUSTIN!!! I know your info was 3 years ago, BUT THANK YOU BROTHER!!! The ONLY way I saw those darn clips was to turn each hole to the bottom towards the floor as you say!! Then it was EASY!! God bless you man! Seriously!!
OH MY GOSHHH AT FIRST I did not understand your advice but once i kept looking i found it super easy to take them off
This man is a god damn American hero
I just got the wheel I ordered from you guys, took maybe 20 minutes to get it done. Couldn't be happier, thank you for providing the install video as well!
You guys really know how to produce these promotion / installation videos. Well done.

Getting those clips is always a pain 😅
Did u have any problem with alignment after u installed yours ?
My god these wheels are super sick! I reaaalllly need one.
Just one?
edit: thought you were talking about the wheels with tires on them lol
Berenger Christy Haha! I need 4 of those as well!
Guys, those darn air bag clips!!! Justin saved a few of us with just one tip! Turn the steering wheel so EACH of those 3 holes face the floor!! Then you can easily see each clip and it's a breeze!!!
I would use a white marker and draw across the two parts to make sure the lineament is correct.
Thank you for the video! The clockspring crapped out on my wifes car and I just needed to replace it. This is really helpful.
did you have to do any other work after you replaced the clock spring?
im about to replace mine

I love the CP style! Definitely brings a premium look and enhancements on the interior! 😍
Definitely going to be picking up one of the alcantara ones when they come in stock. Awesome looking product!

CP steering wheel all the way! You can never have too much carbon fibre! :)
Is a tune needed after this install?
JK.
Adds 5hp at the wheels.
No no, not a joke. I replaced the clockspring in our WRX and the entire car had a panic attack. I'm so glad we sold it....
i would like to see all of the carbon fiber products you have installed on the trim/head unit/ speedometer/ etc.

Can I put this on a 2017 Forester?

Thanx for the clarification.
SubiSpeed is there any way you can replace the emblem on the airbag for the steering wheel?
Did the install, but to make the car go straight, I have to hold the wheel at a slight angle. Am I one tooth of fon the spine, or did I move the clock spring while installing (not sure if that matters)

Wow, you guys read my mind. So approx how much thicker are they? What sort of Leather have you used on the leather ones?
I need the KV style in my life! Anyway that you would be offering different thread color options for the Launch Edition / Hyper Edition STIs?
@SubiSpeed we need a carbon fiber roof vortex generator for the 15+STI. :) :)
Excellent video guys, very well made and edited. Keep it up!
I have been wanting the CP Style steering wheel! So take my money already!!! haha! You just sent my order out for shipping according to the order status. I look forward to receiving it!
Does anyone know if this will work on a 2012 impreza?
Do any codes come up after the install? Like airbag light
Can. One popped up for me and it turns out I didn't press the tabs down on the airbag connections (orange and black) when I reconnected. (The tabs on top that you initially disconnect with the flat head)
Hardest part finding the clips to remove the air bag 🤦♂️
i took like 3 hours to find those clips stupidest design ive ever seen
Question: I replaced the clockspring on our 15 WRX but now its throwing codes. Why???
@subiespeed I have a hyperblue 16 Sti. And I wanna buy a wheel but if I do I dot. Want the red stitching:(. I would like to keep the blue stitching. I hope you guys come out a wheel for the hyperblue
I wonder if anyone knows if I can install one of these on my 2015 outback. My steering is starting to wear down.
Sick wheel! Will it fit a 2016 Subaru Forester xt?
I'm liking the KV/PK syles.
With a new airbag/bottom trim can these be retrofitted to a 13 Crosstrek?
I've got a 09 forester, where can I buy these steering wheel upgrades?
Can you replace a 2015 Forester steering wheel with a 2017 Forester steering wheel??
They all look great, tough decision to make!
kv style looks badass. would be awesome if there's blue stitching for hyper blue trims. and btw, is that real carbon fibre?
Yes it is real carbon fiber. :)
Quick question, any idea how to avoid the noisy alarm when I disconnect the battery?
Great install video made it easy for me 🎉🎉

We had no issues with an airbag light. There are no indicators on the spline, you can either make a mark or eyeball it.
+SubiSpeed Cool, thanks. I was just curious about that aspect of it. Keep up the good work!
How do you lock the steering wheel
I want to see the JDM S4 Tan steering wheel on. I'm very curious to see how it looks.
Google image...

Carbon fiber with alcantara please.
ordered one already. when will you guys start to ship out?
airbag light came on after, any fixes?
Ordered the PK, let's see how this things looks and feels in the real life.
Make sure you post up the results. I personally think it's the best looking wheel they have.
Should make for older wrx/sti
Hello, will a stock wrx sti steering wheel fit on a crosstrek?
I did this and now my srs system light is on? I followed everything in the video and made sure everything was plugged in correctly.
MrSkateIDK same with mine! We’re you able to fix it?
One popped up for me and it turns out I didn't press the tabs down on the airbag connections (orange and black) when I reconnected. (The tabs on top that you initially disconnect with the flat head)
Do you happen to know if this would fit on a 09 WRX/STi? Dimensions look about the same..
buttons arent the same but as long as airbag wiring and screw pattern matches up Id get it
Look I know it's a stupid question but will this work on a 14 Legacy
Did you have the car off the ground during this install? I haven't done it yet, but noticed how easily the wheel was turning.
No the car was on the ground.
Cool, thanks. Hope to get it installed this week.
Do you guys make mods for the 2011-2014 Subaru Impreza sti as well?
My alignment is fucked and ABS , traction and hill assist light is on ... where did I go wrong 🤦
same with mine how’d did you fix it?
i changed my steering wheel, and now my airbag light is on, can anyone tell me how do i reset it.
Awesome I'm feeling the JB

CP and PK are clean
Hey i have a red wrx 15, and its an automatic and so to use my sport shirt, the + and - pedals are behind the steering wheel! Are you able to install a brand new after market steering wheel and still keep the sport shift pedals at the back to keep my sport shift working?
Yes with our steering wheels your retain everything.
would this work on the 2015 impreza ?
Pardon me if you answered this already, But could this wheel be retro-fitted on the 2011 sti hatchback?
Unfortunately, we cannot confirm fitment on older models.
Really nice video, Kevin.
Do I need a wheel alignment after installing this?
Is there a install for the front lips, sideskirts, and the rear?
No, we don't have any installs on these unfortunately. Most of these pieces we offer are pretty straight forward. Mock up the piece and drill for hardware would be the most complicated steps for install on these particular parts.
Hey lads, any updates on the dispatch date? Super keen to get my CR installed.
We are two weeks out. :)
Brilliant, thank you!
if the layouts of my button are different does this affect if the steering wheel fits or not?
No it does not affect the fitment as long as you have a 2015+ WRX/STI
yup thanks for the reply! I'll have to pick one up at some point soon!
is this good for 2016 XV?
Will it fit the 2013 Impreza/crosstrek CVT?
I imagine it would, you need the right airbag of course
damn.............looks soooo gooooood
Anybody have their SRS Airbag System light pop up after this?
I did, how do I get it off
what did you?
very detail install! thank you #sicksteering
Awesome! Awesome!I love CP designThank you
Love the PK Style
I have a 2010 wrx hatch do you guys have any products for me
We only provide parts for the 2015+ WRX/STI
Steering wheel was hard to pull out for me lol
Would this still fit with a CVT wheel?
Yes
Is this fits on my imreza 2016
Is you English much?
love it!!!
I love the stock steering wheel! Does it make the car go faster? Didn't think so.
You may think this is just a visual mod, but that's where you're wrong. Install this and get a proper tune and you'll gain around 50whp bro
+Fox Stowe hmmm, didn't know you need a tune for a steering wheel. Lol
Nice.
Would this fit a 2019 Impreza or crosstrek? Lol I know I want one of those but I test drive a wrx last week and fell in love with the wheel
Finally, I've replaced my stock wheel.
Shiet that thing is dope.
that's savage
Why doesn't it have the Limited buttons on it. My steering wheel is different 2016 limited
This is a 15 we used in the install. Any 15+ WRX/STI will work as the buttons transfer the actual wheel is used on all model years.
Wow fuck me great video man … if I was going to do it your video a must .. 100
Tells you to lock steering wheel and doesn’t say how 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Stuck here right now lol, can’t get my wheel to lock
I’d love to see more options for grown ups 😉 something other than fake carbon fiber, not just in this but all the trim pieces.
iam broke.. = ( fml

would this work on the 2015 impreza ?
Will this fit a wrx cvt ?
