@@yukon09make an edit of just a regular tourist trip via Mach 20 hypersonic reentry-based spaceplane aircraft, using earth’s orbital velocity to glide towards its destination at Mach 25. Just a thought, and I don’t even play KSP. :3
You are absolutely right! Remember thinking this way as a schoolboy in 1969. But some aspects of this retro futurism did become reality. Space shuttles and reusable spacecraft became reality. So did orbiting space stations. Space tourism is only now taking off with space x testing its starship. But sadly, there is no moon base.

4 months on and this still might very well be my favorite RUclips video. God, at the very least it’s the only video to ever make me wish I had a home theater. Seriously, this deserves to be on a big screen somewhere, someday.
This is a pretty realistic representation of how space tourism could have been performed in the 2000's in a "never ending space race" scenario. The technologies used for the spacecraft do not seem that far off from our current or near future tech level, so it could perfectly be done in an alternate, more techologically advanced version of humanity. Also, the short film is great!
I can't even start to imagine how long this took but man was it worth it, every single shot is gorgeous. Makes me feel nostalgic for the 1980's future we never got
I love the scene at 0:51 With the lil’ choir doing their thing, the SSTO soaring through the clouds with afterburners raging, and the far above shot following, it just makes me marvel and wonder, “What’s the limit?” Anyways, love the video 👍

Heat shield present on the Concorde Space station from 2001 Bottom stage from Ad Astra 3:40 Shot reminds me of landing flip in First Man Moon Landing facility from Ad Astra Obelisk from 2001 Feel free to reply with what I missed
The “heat shield” you’re referencing on the Concorde doesn’t exist on that craft. It’s actually from the X-20 Dyna-Soar, although that was affixed directly to the window and was jettisoned after re-entry.
Also, the aircraft itself is reffered to as the "Orion Clipper", which is a direct reference to the LEO transport TSTO spaceplane at the begining of 2001, that was called the Space Clipper Orion III.
And let's not forget about that trans-lunar tranporter, which I've seen other people in this very comment section sayis made to resemble the Eagles from Space: 1999, and its registration number N1969A being a rather convoluted reference to the Moon landings and Niel Armstrong.
