    • @mopanov

I agree, justice is an underrated episode. It’s generally considered upper midrange but I would say it is among the best. Kryten’s brutal character assassination of Rimmer for his court defence was hilarious, as was the fight between lister and the stimulant with the justice field turning all the attacks back on the perpetrator.

Erm, I think we're all beginning to lose sight of the real issue here, which is: what are we going to call ourselves? Erm, and I think it comes down to a choice between "The League Against Salivating Monsters" or, my own personal preference, which is "The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society." Erm, one drawback with that -- the abbreviation is "CLITORIS."

One of my favourite episodes is DNA. In this episode, the crew discover a mysterious uninhabited pod with what turns out to be a machine to modify the DNA of anything (it turns Lister into a chicken, then a hamster before turning him back into a human, then it turns Kryten into a human as well). The moment that leaves me in stitches is where the human Kryten hands Lister a pair of Polaroid pictures:
"Take a look at this...and this,"
Lister's face goes from confused to shocked.
"Now how do you suppose that happened?"
"W-what were you thinking of at the time??"
"Nothing in particular, I was just looking at an electrical appliance catalogue. One moment I was looking at vacuum cleaners and suddenly my underpants elastic was catapulted across the medical bay!"
    😂😂😂
Later, Holly inadvertently turned Lister's Mutton Vindaloo into a Vindaloo smelling, virtually indestructible monster...or is it? After turning Lister into a half robocop, half human midget, he discovered that lager can kill it

"Tikka To Ride" should've at least got Honorable Mention! The conversation between Lister and JFK is great.
Craig Charles was the guest of honor at the first Anglicon (Seattle) that I went to. Poor guy had the US version of Monteczuma's revenge. He was a real trooper during a panel, but immediately had to excuse himself to go back to his room. Dude was white as a sheet, poor guy. Quite the gentleman, too.

Thank goodness you chose all the ones from series 1 to 6!!! However, Inquisitor is better than No 8, and Dimension Jump should have been in there, but doesn't even get an honourable mention.

    5. "Back To Reality"
This episode is all the rave among fans, and the plot could have easily have been used n a Star Trek episode. The set design underwater has a wonderfully tense feel it and the whole underwater scene is beautifully directed. Although there was meant to be an appearance of the despear squid, its absence on screen makes it all the more sinister. Timothy Spall makes a swell impact in the short time, he has as a guest star. Each character not only has a shining moment, but their alter-background stories are very sound and structured, which adds intricacy to the plot. The second half towards the end is thrilling and wonderfully nail-biting. If the series were to end, then this episode would be the one to end it.
    4. "Samsara"
Agatha Christie meets Scooby-doo and his gang in this somewhat murder mystery. Plenty of clues dotted out here and there, getting more obvious as the story plays out. The Karma-drive may have been underused, but still has a beautifully sinister presence. The flashback sequences are said to be more informative than funny, but for my part, not everything is funny, and sometimes, you just have to take information on board. The dividing scenes between both teams of the Red Dwarf boys is a neat treat. And the ending reveal is nicely explained both verbally and visually.
    3. "Backwards"
Sometimes, in Sci-fi, the effects tend to wither and age, but that is not the case with this episode. The effects NEVER grow old. The gags remain fabulously absurd to this day and the visual and verbal gags still have the same impact. Easily the best and most satisfying series opener of the whole series.
    2. "Twentica"
A very interactive nice break from the familiar sets with the exception of the Starbug and an exhilerating opener right from the start. Very few times have the boys from the dwarf interacted with a large group of other life forms (whether they'd be human or otherwise) This is a favorite example of mine. The Expinoids are quite clearly a comical mimic of the Star Trek Borgs. The idea of an Earth set back technology-wise and the prohibition is an extraordinary concept. The Lady Be Good club secret is a nice surprise from what you expect when the word prohibition is mentioned. The defeat of the formally mention droids is played cool with a slight touch of flash, bang wallop. The Red Dwarf team all play a part in this episode.
For me, not since the episode - "Backwards" has there been such a satisfying series opener.
    1. "Lemons"
A story, which has the makings of a Douglas Adams novel. Bristling with a blend of ideas, from the Swedish shower unit to the meeting of "Jesus". One of the key attractions of this episode is the early Doctor Who element, in which the team teaches the viewers about history and science, even though some of it may not be entirely accurate, it is still entertaining to watch and listen to. The set and extra cast are of a grand scale. The diner scene between the Red Dwarf boys is like a cozy bar conversation between a group of pub mates and entertainment to watch. James Baxter is a welcome guest actor as the center character in question. The moment or the past coming back to haunt the Cat is hilarious. The revelation near the is too amusing for words and the final minute accumulates what I would say comes outburst of laughter right at the very end.
