    After warching your videos over and over durint the past years, I finally got my A license, and just took home a 1998 CB500. Thank you for the inspiration man, I'm crying tears of joy right now.

    For me this is what riding is all about. I have a Cbf500, she may not be the fastest, she may not be the most beautifull, but she is mine, and that's all that matters. Cheers to you mate, ride safe.

      yes indeed! Thanks a lot mate! Speed safe!

    You are one of the guys that convinced me that the bike is not ***that*** important.
    After setting eyes on a CB500 i soon found a good deal on her sister from another mother, the Kawasaki ER-5.
    What is important however is to ride the bike in beautifull and inspiring places.
    Thanks for that.

    • @Schaaf

    Oh man, this video brings back some memories. I got my first "big bike" in July of 2013, probably a few days before you posted this video. It was a 99 CB 500 "sport" and you definitely influenced that purchase. Almost 10 years have passed and my Honda is long gone, no idea how many owner it had since then and if it's still on the road. But you still have yours, and that's impressive.
    I don't see the CB 500 in the same way that I did back then. It used to be a competent but cheap beginner bike. Now I see it as a classic with quite a reputation.
    So thanks for the memories Schaaf, it was a good flashback.

    I sold my CB500 in 1999 (with 80K km). Looking at your videos, I deeply regret it...
    I never had so much fun than with this bike: a light frame, narrow wheels and a funny engine, that'all what motorbike is about.
    Thanks for your videos. I'm starting right now to look for a second-hand CB500 !!

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  9 лет назад +2

      +struklette true that! In 2-3 years from now I'll get something else. But I'll always keep a CB500 round the house :)

    Doing a Walkaround on an old CB 500 is super-classy, thanks man!
    I just love how all these motovloggers nowadays ride the all new bikes, and brag about their newest supersport litre bikes,
    but they can't even ride the things! ;D You'd probably smoke'em any day on a curvy road!
    The editing is also brilliant.

  • @Schaaf
    @Schaaf  11 лет назад +1

    every aftermarket exhaust on the CB500 is going to give you the wonderful backfire! Even the stock one, if you push her really hard. But besides from that the stock one basically makes the bike sound like an electric sewing machine ;) Thanks for the nice words! Good luck with finding a lovely CB, you certainly won't regret it - just like traveling to Austria! ;)

    • @pedrovaz3172
      @pedrovaz3172 11 месяцев назад

      Hi Schaaf, where did you bought that exhaust?

  • @Schaaf
    @Schaaf  11 лет назад +5

    Well, on the CB500 it's definitely worth its money - although the rear suspension 's a lot more important and it certainly brings much more improvement than just changing the fork springs. I switched the rear susp. first and the difference was huge. Then I added Wilbers at the front and I didn't notice much change. Well, a little bit maybe :)

      +Schaaf, do you remember how much it cost to paint your CB in your country? And also, the colour you used is Matte or Satin? Because it reflects some light.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 лет назад

      I didn't have it painted in Austria because there's no way I'd be able to afford that. It's an official BMW color called "frozen grey"

    Oh i do love this video. If i feel a bit wound up i watch this and it all drains away until i'm calm again. I think it's the combination of music (calm and laid back), bike (i do love the iconic CB500) and imagery (that's you on the bike arms outstretched 12:04 to 12:14) and there i am pleasantly chilled and ready to listen, eye's closed and calm.

    thank you very much! You are certainly the right one to judge my video skills because you were subscribed to my channel from the very beginning :))) - and concerning my handlebars: It's a pity that I can't tell you the name of this exact model. I bought the CB with them already installed and there's no name or type to be found anywhere on the handlebars :( A pity because they definitely improve the handling, the CB gets even easier to handle with these!!

      +Schaaf wie viel Zeit hat denn das filmen gedauert? Also jetzt rein von den Szenen. wo das Bike vorgestellt wird? Und eine Setup-liste wäre toll (Kamer, Stativ, ähnliches!)

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  9 лет назад

      +Team Kochertal Die Zeitraffer-Aufnahmen hab' ich in einer Stunde erledigt, gemacht mit einer alten Canon 400D und 28mm/1.8 Optik. Die Aufnahmen vom Moped stehend und in der Kurve waren in weniger als einer Stunde erledigt. Gemacht mit Canon 7D und 15-85mm Kitobjektiv. Stativ besitze ich ein kaputtes uralt-Teil von SLIK. Für die GoPro Sachen war ich, wegen der Location, sicher 3h unterwegs. Gefilmt wurde aber nicht länger als 15 Minuten.

    I had to ride the CB500F and CB600F in driving school. Very decent bikes but the old CB has much more character and a thinner rear tire. Makes a huge difference when it comes to easy handling :)

  • @ehsan83
    @ehsan83 9 лет назад

    You know what i like about your bike? The fact that it's old and cheap. It means that you could have fun with just a little and don't need to have a 20,000 Euro bike to enjoy life.
    I don't know if this is your message to your viewers but it's at least what i get from your videos :)

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  9 лет назад

      +ehsan83 it would be if I'd actually choose to ride a bike like this. But I'm only riding the old CB because I can't afford anything else :) But it's still true that you CAN have tons of fun on a 1000€ bike :)

    • @ehsan83
      @ehsan83 9 лет назад

      +Schaaf This is what i'm saying. Even if you have the money to get a better one, sometimes you enjoy so much your actual ride, you have so many good memories with it that you don't wanna change it.
      For example me i have the money to buy a good one now but i can't because of some personal issue. When i see your videos i wish i could have your old bike to go for a ride.
      Enjoy your bike and ride safe. oh and before i forget : change your rear tire ! ;)

    • @Schaaf

      +ehsan83 I would IMMEDIATELY change my bike if I had the money ;)

  • @Schaaf
    @Schaaf  11 лет назад

    thank you very much! Unfortunately, that's a rather tough question for me. I never learned editing. I'm just playing around with editing software for almost 7 years now. I learned everything through trial & error. The only recommendation which I can give you is to get a decent editing software right from the start (Final Cut on Mac or Adobe Premiere on Windows) and watch yourself through the most basic editing tutorials here on RUclips. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask!

    definitiv - aber wenn du deine 125ger schon komplett ausgereizt hast und richtig gut unterwegs bist, dann kannst du dir vl. auch schon was größeres oder stärkeres holen. Leistungstechnisch ist die CB sehr schnell ausgereizt. Mir macht sie halt trotzdem Spaß, weil ich ihr ohne große Furcht absolut den Rest geben kann und weil ich mir nix anderes leisten kann ;)

    Hi man! I just watched some of your videos here in Italy and then I came here curious to see your bike. It's good to see you passion for riding and also a little not-so-new bike run with all-digital-full-powered-new bikes.
    As I always say the real difference is in the wirst :)
    I like your guide style and seeing this video I think you really need metal brided brake lines to have amore incisive braking and most important less brake fading.
    It's a relative cheap modification but it could improve your cornering speed in a really drastic way.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  7 лет назад

      that's what steelflex brake line stands for. I don't know though whether that is a correct translation from German to English! Thanks

  • @Schaaf
    @Schaaf  11 лет назад

    I'm using the stock ones. I could go for "sporty" aftermarket footpegs which won't scrape that easy and early but I somehow like it how it is right now. As soon as they start scraping I know that my leaning angle's pretty decent but still safe enough. I don't really dare going any further though - although it's certainly possible to do so!

    Hast du deine Maschine foliert oder lackiert ? Das schaut ja nicht gerade nach einer Standardfarbe aus ;) Und was hast du da circa für bezahlt ?
    Grüßle !

    Nice bike, and nice camera work. You are blessed with some beautiful roads. Took my KTM 690ER our today for some 50/50 dirt/street north of Houston today. Hoping Yamaha will be announcing the XSR700 for the US sometime in May or June....before I lose my patience and hunt down a deal on a '16 XSR900 in that awesome anniversary yellow. You appear to have some talent. Have you ever worked with an instructor on track? I tracked cars for a few years. Always a hoot to watch the good drivers in a $5K NA Miata knocking for a point by 2 turns past the main straight, behind some dude in his new Vette or Viper. Ride safe.

      @Schaaf  7 лет назад

      thanks a lot for the nice comment! I Unfortunately can't afford to go to the track and only have done one supermoto training on a kart track so far. But maybe this season I'll find a good opportunity.

      That's life. I was once a broke student myself, and could barely afford a beater car. Since then, I've been blessed to own and track some nice sports cars-S2000 CR, NC Miata, FRS (GT86). I can tell you that the same David and Goliath dynamic you speak of exists there for cars as well. The guy in the $80K 600 hp car is often pissed when 2 turns off the straight, the $5K 100hp NA Miata with a skilled driver at the wheel is on his tail for a point by. It's always there when you have a mix of different machines and skill levels. ;)

    Props from the US, man! Nice looking bike. I'm thinking of getting a similar sized/priced bike as my first real motorcycle, even though we don't have any power restrictions here! I've outgrown my aprilia scarabeo 150 after riding it for 3 years haha

    What I'm saying is the music part was awesome. Like most of your "music videos" it is tuned finely to the rhythm perfect choice of music.
    ...by the way if I had a CB500 with a Leo Vince on it I'd probably want the rest of the world to hear it 's well.

    Another great 'upgrade': a can of heatresistant paint. ±$20 a can, and your header pipes will look as new.
    Anyway, I love this video. It shows that you don't need an expensive new bike to have fun and sound/look great. Nice editing skills!

    Ich glaub es wird zeit für mich meine Federbeine zu tauschen wenn der Unterschied wirklich so gewaltig ist..
    Weißt du wo man die IKON am günstigsten bekommt ?
    und auf welcher Stufe hast du sie eingestellt ?

    thank you! Getting back on the bike always sounds like a good idea :) What's wrong with your front brake though? Cause I might have some technical 'issues' with my front brake as well but I'm not 100% sure whether it's the brake disc or the brake caliper which is causing some problems.

    Feines Bike! Deine Videos sind mal wieder der Beweis, das Spaß am biken nichts mit Leistung zu tun hat. Btw. dein Krümmer könnte mal etwas Pflege vertragen (z.B. Autosol Anti-Blau).

      Anti-Blau ist für Edelstahl. Das sind aber schwarz lackierte (brünierte?) Krümmer, die mit der Zeit braun werden. Ich hab meine abmontiert, abgeschliffen und neu lackiert. Is net viel Aufwand, hab den Topf (original) gleich mitlackiert, was beim Edelstahl Leo net so supi wär

      CB Experience ich weiß nicht mal, ob die tatsächlich mal lackiert waren. Passen mit ihrem rostbraunen Farbtouch aber gut in's Gesamtbild ;)

    LOOOOL ich habe die BT45 auch und in den Foren wird immer behauptet, dass die Evo T30 oder T31 so viel besser und sicherer wären aber wenn ich sehe, was du mit den BT45 machst, kann das ja wohl nur ein Witz sein, was die da schreiben.
    Und das Video ist gut geschnitten. Gefällt mir.

      seit wann gibt es den T30 in 110 vorne und 130 hinten? Danke dir

      Für deine CB500 ist es eine andere Geschichte, aber für meine Honda NTV sind die BT023, T30 und T31 freigegeben. Die hat hinten glaube ich 150 anstatt deine 130.
