I started following you when I was in high-school. I was so impressed with the way you actually captured the glow of the water in a crest when you painted. It was way before I ever started painting with oils and I only ever did charcoal portraits. I'm having a similar problem deciding what I actually want to do, in what medium, in what way. I've dabbled with painting, digital art, sculpting, stained glass, ceramics, tattooing, crocheting and other crafts. I want to do it all and none of it at the same time. I can't tell if I'm seeking a niche, it feels like I have no set style. If anyone else has similar experiences but overcame them or can relate feel free to comment below. I'm interested to hear what others have to say. I am driven to create, but constantly at a loss as to what.

I always enjoy watching you paint and listening to your insights, whether they be personal or professional. It seems necessary for artists to venture into different subject matter and styles to really learn new skills, try ideas, and ultimately figure out what they get excited about creating. I have enjoyed watching you dabble and grow. You are very relatable to a wide variety of people of all ages.
    Hugs to you!

I swear I can see you hair growth watching this timelapse. The seasons changed, calender pages fell off, people were born and died. No but seriously how long did it take you? It's awesome!!! And so mesmerising! Very interesting what you are saying, but I have to admit at some points I just floated in the water. Much love, you are awesome 💕

XD a perfect description hah, i don't think you're far off from reality. the first painting began maybe 6 months ago so time has been lapsing. I also was bouncing between other merch, commission, and video work during the timeline so it adds to the span of footage. - I also float in the water in playbacks, so i feel you ha. Glad we're buoyant!

Hello from Long Island! Beautiful wave! And I loved to hear your story and thoughts on this, particularly that Waves are my main subject as well. I work in pastels right now, but you mentioned a lot that I can relate to, it’s not medium-specific. Wishing you the best in your art journey!

i love this story of your painting journey so much! I'm 23 and about to graduate art college and i really feel like i've finally found the area/style/subjects i love working with, so im really excited to just run with that, and hearing about how you changed direction and then circled back is really reassuring. like, i love what im doing now but it will definitely change, and its ok for that to happen because art can go in whatever direction you like as long as *you the artist* really do like it

I started painting waves too recently, while listening to choral music. One composer that struck me was this Gjeilo, ( Scandinavian need to be near water I suppose) , his piece Sacred Heart, on RUclips.

Hullo Robin, I do enjoy your videos and how you approach art creation and life in general. I myself have just finally stretched a 48 inch square piece of watercolor paper! I hope to paint a 45 inch wave painting. I may go with traditional watercolors or maybe branch out into some gouache! I am glad your doing YOU! Just keep being true to yourself and I simply do not believe "backsliding" is something an Artist can do, if they are trying to move forward even if they feel that they are going back to previous subjects you are different so your work must be different just because you are different. Nothing stays the same matter how hard you may try to keep it static, it will move on. I am so happy I got your book. I still need to put into practice themes from your book. I encourage any others to buy it if they want to get a boost or just start Oil Painting! Thanks Robin, your a truly awesome person, a tremendous artist and lovely human.

I totally agree with the part that you found yourself painting for the channel and youtube more than personally. I have found this myself and it is a really hard thing to get a good balance with. I also found that my personal painting far outstripped the stuff I was / am putting on my channel. but in another way having my channel just recently has helped a decision to focus on less subjects and not to try to do it all.

It's so interesting to hear you talk about your journey since mine is kinda the opposite. I recently graduated art school and in it my teachers really pushed me in terms of creativity and art styles as well as my academic studies. Now im very comfortable with classical expressionism and new figuration. Recently someone asked me if i could paint a small landscape for them and i was happy to do that but also one of the first thoughts was "well wouldn't it be a downgrade from your work?" but i decided to go for it anyways since i've painted landscapes excusevly long time ago. For me the comfort was the expressive distortions and for you it was realism. It's fascinating how that varies among artists!
