    I have a 2001 finish cut swisher and you wouldn't believe what I've cut with it for twenty years. I've used it like a bush hog on hard to reach food plots busting rocks and three inch brush. She looks rough but only replaced coil, carburetor, and three belts in twenty years.

      Now that a good mower to last that long. Good to hear that the finish mowers can do some bush hogging too. Alot of people have asked about finish mowers but I don't own one personally. Might have to look for one. Thanks for the comment and recommendation for the viewers. Thanks for watching.

      I actually sold it to a buddy when I bought my tractor. I have done seen where I need it now that it is gone. It was great to mow up under trees on the side of fields. The only problem with these is if you pull them to fast in really high weeds the belt would slip. I needed a tractor to cover two different farms both with a total of 18 acres. I will be purchasing another one.

    Been researching these, I have some high brush next to woods I know it will be great for, just having a hard time finding one that I think has a long enough arm with offset for getting down around the bank of my pond.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 года назад

      When I offset mine on my sxs it still rides about two tire widths on the outside of the utv. There is still some of it riding behind in my tire tracks... now I believe mine is just shorter because it a older on to be used behind a atv. I have considered building a arm to extend it but have never got around to it. If the controls are mounted or secured on the deck and a long arm is built just for doing that pond. You can always take it off when your done with the pond. Just a idea but I would look on swishers sight and see what they offer in trailing arms or extended hitch’s. Let me know what you find. Thanks for watching.

    Great review! More informative and helpful than the factory advertisement! I just ordered a swisher rough cut. Would you have an estimate on how many acres you could mow per hour/day potentially? Thanks

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. It would be hard to estimate considering the speed you have to stay at the terrain plus how tall the field might be, but if i was guessing I would say a acre in a hour thats running 5mph to not bog the bushhog down in high weeds. Hope this helps

    Hello, looking for basically same mower and came across your video. Well done. Looking back for the past 2 years, is it still doing good? Any issues other than just normal wear and tear? Also, have you tired to back it up and cut? I need to be able to get to some spots that even the offset may not reach, like cutting at the lake's edge. Appreciate your feedback...

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  Год назад +3

      Hello, Thank you. Actually I do not own it anymore. But the guy I sold it to still lets me borrow it from time to time. It is still doing really good. The only reason I sold it was that I bought a tractor and could cover ground faster. I still use it on field edges and and food plots in the woods. You can back up with it to cut you just have to be carful and not jack knife it when it gets in a bind. But doing lake banks or ponds it should work great. With these style mowers the main service is belts. As long as you keep them maintained they will last a long time. They are very handy

  • @jasondillon7067

    As a fellow pioneer owner what is your cutting/travel speed while mowing and after buying used if you did it again would you buy new and never look back?

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  4 года назад +2

      jason dillon in thick stuff I’m about 5 to 8 mph. Most of the time high range about 8 to 10mph in normal field mowing conditions. Honestly these mowers are so simple to work on I believe I would find one used again. The price they want for a new one is steep. Either way you look at it new or used your gonna be changing a belt every year if you use it like I do. Hope this helps and Thanks for watching.

    Have you had any issues with your swisher since making this video? Looks like it worked great!

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 года назад +3

      It has been a great machine but there is a lot of maintenance to them. If you use it regularly in tall stuff or brush, you could put a couple belts on a season. So far since the video I have added two belts and a set of bearings. But im really rough on mine. LOL. If you mow in slow speeds on just a field with tall grass or edging a field under trees or even tall fence rows its not gonna burn up belts as bad. They great machines just need more work than a normal tractor with bushog

  • @alansv888
    @alansv888 Год назад +2

    Did you put the trailer hitch on yourself or was it already on there? Trying to figure out how to put one on mine and the one on swisher is not for my model.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  Год назад +1

      No the hitch was actually on the swisher when I bought it. The person that owned it before me added a bolt on style hitch and bolted it straight thru with shims on both sides then tach welded it. It actually worked out really nice.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  Месяц назад +1

      To be honest it was an awesome machine but I have so much land I keep up with I bought a tractor. Looking back I wished I had kept it for just doing field edges.
      The downfall to these are constantly changing belts or bearing. The newer ones are built better than the older ones.

      Numa Newbern when my pioneer is tied up we use my dads Honda foreman 450 es. It doesn’t have a problem more does my Honda 300 fourtrax. We just use the utv for radio and a little more comfortable ride. Any atv 300 cc and up will work but a 4x4 will make it a lot easier on turns and hills.

    Northern Tool delivered a damaged Swisher mower Jan. 27th. I asked for an immediate return that same day. Yesterday (April 4) , Northern Tool finally said a truck would come today (April 5) to pick up the damaged product.
