    I gotta be honest, SOR Remake is my favorite Beat Em Up of all time, official or unofficial. The amount of love and detail put into this game is incredible. The amount of playable characters, different story paths, stages, enemies, incredible remixed music, etc. It's like a perfect combination of all 3 SOR games, AND THEN SOME. It's a damn shame Sega was too full of themselves to let them release it legally, they could have EASILY partnered with them and released the game and made a ton of money from it. This could have easily been an "anniversary celebration" type game for the series. Ahh well...at least i can still play it whenever i want, just would have been cool to see it get officially released and had the creators get some kind of appreciation for all of their hard work.

      Thank you! And y’know the sad thing is before bomber games started the project they asked sega and sega gave them the go ahead.Then after 8 long years it’s finally released,and then just 1 week later sega changed their mind and asked them to shut it down.If somethings way better than the genesis counterparts,and sega failed multiple times to make a sor4 for the dreamcast and others you would think they’d hire them like what they did for sonic mania.they could’ve helped legalize it.SORR is literally the flawless,It’s basically the SOR version of sonic mania.The new sor4 looks good for now like at sor2 level of good maybe a bit better. It would’ve been higher to possibly come close to sorr with the reveal of the new star power,deva and shiva but when they made only cherry have the ability to run(I’m sure that’s what’s going on since axel and blaze have’nt shown to be able to run yet and I refuse to believe the players playing sor4 are just dumb to not use run as any other character)for me they dropped the ball.

      Streets of Rage was my teenage years, and i've been a huge fan for many years. Still respect the first two games a great deal. A rock band
      that i had with my friends invested several years(!) remaking the first game's soundtrack into a proper musician's hard rock tribute!
      But, the remake made my heart sink. I was closely watching it over the years, and alas, it was disappointingly based on SOR-3 in every way, no matter what you tweak in the options. Fortunately though, my prayers
      were fully answered by Final Fight 3, on the Snes - even though i don't like Snes in general...but every now and then - there is an exception.

    I know I'm late to the party, as I've only found this video now, but I wanted to say thank you man for this very positive review.
    I was glad to be part of that awesome project from early on. Looking back at it now, I'm very proud of what we accomplished. Bomberlink dedicated most of his free time into making the fans' dream a reality with the help of his team. It's a game made by fans for the fans, and I think people could feel it as it got an enthusiastic reception, so much that even today with an official SOR4 being out, quite many gamers still consider SORR superior :D
    It started as a small project, made just for fun, and it went way beyond what we planned and expected, as we put in it everything we liked and missed about the original games, as well as features we would have wanted to see in a sequel that never was. It ended up becoming kind of what a trilogy megamix would have looked like on the Saturn.
    Finally, kudos for displaying our names in the ending credits. It's still weird to me to see my name in a popular, if unofficial, video game :)

      Julio Cesar nah... they were butt hurt over the lack of getting their consent first. That's REALLY bad form form and an extreme broach of etiquette in Japan. That's why they refused to work with them on an official release, despite Bomber Games' repeated attempts over the years. They've known about it for years before its release. However they waited for its final version to be released to shut it down. To me it sounds like they did what they were legally obligated to do... but made sure they were able to finish and release it first before dropping the hammer, instead of killing it before they were done.

    I am so glad that you did this video. This game is crazy good and I was pretty blown away by it. I have been hoping one of the retro channels would cover this just to give the devs the praise they deserve. Quite honestly I don't Sega themselves could have done this because they would have tried to go 3d and messed it up. Only true fans with passion for the originals could recreate it so well. The craziest thing of all is the music, you expect that people would do a decent job copying the graphics but what they did with the music is utterly amazing. I hope the guys that created this, see this video and read this comment. Its a complete master piece. Sadly Sega did the big business thing which I understand, but if there are any 90's Sega fans within the company they should realize this isn't just some hack and really reward these guys. They could have, as you said, paid them something for it and put it on Steam. Port it to the consoles as well. Thanks Sega Lord X for this video, it was badly needed.

    Fantastic project, runs like a dream on even a budget PC, and worth experiencing with a Saturn pad just because it feels like it was meant for that system.
    What's even more incredible is *it does not use reverse engineering nor a single line of code from the original games* (direct quote). Those graphics? Done from scratch. Sure, the effects are lifted, but that's it.

    • @Shyning77
      @Shyning77 4 года назад

      To be fair, many of the sprites and graphics were ripped from the original games, only enhanced with more colours, details, new moves, etc. But the engine was made from scratch, you're correct.

    You see- this was the original Sega 'Mania' game. It is just so, so good- arguably better than the originals in all ways except for it not having a physical release. I really do think it is criminal that Sega haven't seen the value in this game. I literally played through Streets of Rage 3 last night- it is a series that I've been playing since I was back in 1992, and that I still love to this day. For me, Remake is a part of the series proper, owing to the amount of time I ended up investing in it. It is just so, so good. Maybe the next gaming petition the community should start should be something along the lines of 'SaveStreetsofRageRemake'?

      It was a golden age for video games back in the early nineties. A game where just a handful of people with hearts full of passion could make a game like Streets of Rage or Golden Axe. Games made by like six people that entertained millions of people. How I miss those days. I honestly think people who worked in the "industry" back then miss those days too. Just like music, the current state of gaming these days is a result of what happens when something goes from being an art form, to a business, to an industry. It loses it's soul. There's no heart put into games these days. When you beat a game and watch the credits roll these days, there's no connection whatsoever. It's just a long-ass list of names of people who may or may not have even given a shit about what they just created. Back in the Genesis days, the names you saw on the credits meant something. They meant: "These are the people who made this entertainment for me. These are the people that brought me fun and joy."

    Yeah, Streets of Rage Remake is what every Sega's fan need. The latest version of this game 5.1 is the best out there. It has freaking 10 (or even more) endings, possibility to unlock skins of main characters from first two games in the series and many cool stuff and tons of unlockables. Also there is a tons of mods made by fans for this game, which you can play via mods menu in actual game. And honestly, this game is even better than upcoming SoR4. How do i know that? Well, because SoR Remake doesn't have stupid system requirements for your PC, that does not do your PC and you any justice. It can run even on Windows XP if you want. I don't have problems by playing it on Windows 7 at all. Also SoR Remake has original graphics style, unlike SoR 4, that has this cartoon like look, which makes main characters look like they was riped straight from some looney tunes cartoons. Sure i will play Streets of Rage 4, but Streets of Rage Remake is what TRUE Streets of Rage 4 should have been.

    Thank you Sega Lord X, for shining a light on this. I had followed the development close to this at the time, and since it's final release I dare say it: it's not only the best SOR, but the best beat 'em up that I've ever played. And that is still one of my fave genres. And all that being an unofficial game, such an accomplishment! Also I'm glad that you have the same opinion and find it possible that after SOR4 is released, Sega could contact the developers and had it released officially. In a post-Sonic Mania world, that doesn't seem so far fetched. Keep the up the awesome work man! And that's a cool new intro

    • @Shyning77
      @Shyning77 4 года назад +1

      It seems like we were too ahead of our time, sadly, as the Sonic Mania and retro gaming hype only started years later. That said, SORR couldn't be released as such as it uses a few sprites and graphics ripped from games that aren't SEGA's property.
