Owner of a 2022 X-Trail Hybrid. Having driven it for one year, these are my thoughts: Pros - Consumption of 7L/100km as per the review. For the reference, my Prius is 5L/100km - Very powerful. This has not been covered in enough detail in this review. When accelerating out of the toll booth, very few cars can keep up (including the 2.5L X-Trail). I feel this is the hybrid system's biggest advantage (even more than the fuel economy). It only has slightly larger engine than the Prius (2.0 vs 1.8) but it is so much more quicker. I think the motor in the X-trail has a lot more torque that the one in the Prius - Quiet ride - The forward collision warning and radar cruise control is *very* effective. Cons - The Nissan's hybrid powertrain is not as smooth as Toyota's. In the Prius, I can hardly tell when the engine comes on and off. The engine engages/disengages so smoothly. The X-trail is less refined - there is definite vibration felt when the engine comes on and off - Auto-headlights with auto-highbeam... but no auto-wipers?? This has to be the silliest omission. The 2.5L X-trail has it! - I find the steering to be over-assisted, to the point you feel very disconnected from the road. - The paint is easily scratched. Overall paint quality is not great. For those worried about the battery, the price will come down in years to come. Many workshops are appearing now that do battery reconditioning. This is especially the case for the Prius and Honda Insight. Overall, I am very happy with my X-Trail Hybrid.
The logic of worrying about battery after 5 years is really stupid. The amount of fuel that gets saved in traffic jams, highway coasting plus a full tank that travels 800km++ highway/city AVG 14-17km/l. Also if the still worries you then ETCM as assured that customers can opt for the TC Warranty Plus extended warranty package for all its hybrid-powered models for additional peace of mind. The TC Warranty Plus provides customers with 2 to 4-Years of additional warranty coverage which also covers the hybrid components at a fraction of the cost of a new lithium-ion battery pack.
yes its so stupid. pay 15k more up front , let you drive 200,000km in 10 years, save 0.10 myr per km also barely break even. If you pay another 4k extension and never claim battery that is a pure lost. dont even know you can count or not. you think tcm stupid like you?
I've been driving the hybrid Xtrail for almost 2 years. My only regret are in 4 areas - 1) when the engine starts and the petrol engine kicks in, the engine sounds vibrate and shakes, 2) petrol consumption is marginally better than the 2019 petrol version, 3) the cost of replacing the battery at RM25k freaks me out and salesman couldn't confirm the price at time of purchase 4) the interior is not as sleek as the Peugeot 3008 suv, especially the tablet console and the bmw gear design. Not sure how long I'll be keeping this car before switching to a hydrogen car.
i ve been driving a lexus ct200h for years now. And so far it has been the best car i ever had. Not suitable for people with a heavy foot but for normal drivers a hybrid with CVT is so incredibly relaxed driving. Also the atkinson engine is a low rev engine, making it very silent. Often people ask me if i m driving electric while i m on engine. So if the Xtrail Hybrid is anything like my ct200h is would definitly go for the hybrid one.
Pity the 2nd owner onwards. Once battery goes kaput, he has to fork out RM25k for the replacement. With so many other choices available, this X-Trail Hybrid will be left to rot 🤷🏻♂️
i stop watching after knew that the back seat cant be move nor recline adjust. Imagine after sacrificing third row, they cant at least include that? ugh
Can you help me, while driving the x trail hybrid sometimes the car switches to EV Mode when the oil pedal stops being pressed, this causes the car to have no pickup if it wants to move
Given technological advances, the battery pack will probably drop price in 5 to 10 years time when it comes to changing it. Question is what's the real world improvement in fuel consumption? Given mostly city stop go driving in KL/PJ, what can we expect from a full tank?
It's nissan, what you aspect. Nissan gtr also doesn't have it. And most people that buy this kind of car probably not gonna open the hood everyday. Good to have but not important.

i striked off the thought of buying the hybrid after listening abt the rm25k.
Lucky now there’s quite no of company that offer subscription. I will opt for that so I don’t have to think about battery replacement.

There are some that comment the braking is very soft on the Xtrail Hybrid due to the regenerative braking. Can you confirm that?
