UDUB legend by being a stud CB in football and starting over JR Brandon Roy. My pops loves his dad Jacque like a god as he won a Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl for UDUB in 82 and 84. Legends!
As a Knicks fan, I loved Nate and he was the first player I can remember whose treatment by a coach you could tell was foul. He was first dissed by Larry Brown and later by Dantoni. Instead of freeing him to be the creative unstoppable scorer they wanted to make him be something else and did not show him the love and respect he deserved!
Those are both system coaches with tons of wins. Larry Brown made AI the player he became around a system. That's what is wrong with the game today, just a bunch of dudes playing streetbxll
Exactly what nate said... these new gen fans, especially from 2015+, only care about PPG. You can play zero defense but score 25+. Don't matter how you get it, as long as you're scoring you'll be a god in their books
Damn I loved hearing Nate n Brandon talk about their little battle. Not the biggest names but the ones who know, know that them two were real entertaining players and elite buckets getters

Nate was always one of my favorite players even from his NY days! When the Bulls got him I was so excited (I’m from the Chi and a diehard Bulls fan). He has so many great plays on that team! Chicago loved him! I was mad when they don’t keep him! He kept us afloat and he was really good in the playoffs! That starting lineup of him, Jimmie, Taj, and Noah was nice defensively! Then we had Rip and Lu coming off the bench. Then Rose came back the next season and they let him go and I was too mad! I remember during that time he was in Chicago my baby brother was on the basketball team at his high school and I was working at a university in financial aid and admissions. So I was real cool with the bball team and the football team for the college and the coaches. I went to the bball coach and told him able my brother and asked him did he have any tips for him. First thing the coach asked was how tall is he. My baby brother was under 5’5” at the time and I’m 5’7” so I told the coach he’s shorter than me and the coach was like if he doesn’t have height he penalty won’t get any looks but he gave me a little advice for him. I Rod my baby brother but I added don’t let your height stop. Your heart is what matters most and I tops him look at Nate Robinson. My brother used that and made his IG and FB makes HeartOverHeight. He didn’t go to far but that boy was a dog on the court. They were trying to fool him hard but he got every time and earned the respect of his teammates and the rivals. One time they fouled him so hard my mom was about to run on the court and I had to hold her back lol. Nate is one of the greats in my book!

It’s crazy how coaches can literally help propel or derail a career. I had no idea he walked on, but good on his coach recognizing his skill and effort and signing him the next year. Had the EXACT same situation my freshman year and I was killing our scholarship players. But we had an assistant who played high D1 and HATED walk-ons. Used to brag about hazing and bullying them. He convinced my coach to not give me a full scholarship and only a partial. And did that every year. I basically gave up on a real basketball career and was just on the team until I graduated (though I continued to kill everyday). It did pay off somewhat because outside ppl fucked with me and got me overseas…but no matter how good I did my 3 seasons abroad, I kept losing big contracts to players who had a more decorated college career than me…even when the coach or owner would acknowledge I was better. They said at the end of the day they have to fill seats, and fans follow popularity, not skill. Ended up retiring after my 3rd season because it was an uphill battle
