  • Avatar Kyoshi was no doubt one of the greatest and most powerful benders to ever live. She quickly grew a reputation of fearlessness and power, which terrified her enemies across the four nations… But in her younger days, she did something which would haunt her for years to come… Avatar Kyoshi used a highly forbidden waterbending move that is absolutely terrifying to think about…
    #avatarthelastairbender #thelegendofkorra #forbiddenability
    So hit that subscribe button as we’re about to go on another journey deep into the avatar universe.
    So our story begins with a young boy named Yun, of the Earth Kingdom. As a young boy, he was initially misidentified as the Avatar to the whole world. Soon however the truth about Kyoshi being the real Avatar instead came to light, and his own personal mentor and masater, a man named Jianzhu completely abandoned him. The closest man Yun know, his only guardian and the one who discovered him as a boy betrayed him and gave him to a spirit to whisk away into the mountains, never to be seen again. A truly horrifying act from a master to an apprentice.
    This betrayal led Yun to start a vengeful quest against all the bending masters and politicians who had lied to him about his Avatarhood. He was going to hunt down and brutally execute every single one.
    Eventually this led him to cross paths with Avatar Kyoshi.
    In his final battle, Yun returned to the city of Yokoya at the semi-abandoned Avatar mansion. Kyoshi, the true Avatar, and her friends confronted him. During the battle, Yun managed to injure many of Kyoshi's friends and even killed some of them. However, in the end, Kyoshi came face to face with Yun saying “I’m sorry you had to live with your pain…” Kyoshi put her palm to his chest in a gesture of comfort. “Because you won’t” The cold she sent through his body formed a tunnel of ice between his ribs. It happened so fast, and with so much force, the moisture in the air
    behind him turned to frost. His back sprouted vaporous wings of crystal
    that disappeared just as quickly.
    With his heart and lungs frozen solid, Yun fell to the side.
    Kyoshi took the hand with which she’d killed one of the two people
    she’d loved and placed it against the wound of the other… after this she healed her other friend who had been injured in the confrontation… Contrasting her ability to swing between the most brutal of abilities, to the most noble… Using water to kill but also save…
    Using the highly forbidden and frowned upon idea of bending the liquids inside someone to save another… Tell me if you think this was the right way to end Yun’s life. It’s certainly not an easy choice…

    The earth kingdom doesn’t have a good track record of finding the avatar. I feel like this is going to happen again in the new Avatar series featuring an earth avatar that was announced. Also, Kyoshi bending the liquids in someone’s body would make her the first known blood bender.

    I think Kyoshi is the only Avatar who really got the "maintain the peace no matter what". When Aang was trying to confront Ozai without killing him, the previos Avatar from the nomads of the air told him: "You must sacrifice your spiritual necesities for the world, that's your job". Kyoshi probably was advice the for the same one.

      And what did that bring? It weakened the Earth Kingdom and stopped it from modernization and was surpassed by the Fire Nation that at the time of the previous Fire Nation Avatar was just a nation divided by clans and warring tribes. Shin the Conqueror could have unified the Earth Kingdom for all we know. She also created the Dai Li which led to the fall of the Earth Kingdom but also supported a corrupt Queen which led to the anarchy of Ba Sing Se.

      @@scorpioninpink Yeah... and Aang made a metropolis that made the divide between bender and nonbenders even more apparent.
      It is easy to call out the errors and consequences of the past... another thing completely is live during a time were the only way a leader would be heard was trough force.
      Kyoshi made decisions, and between those decisions there were consequences, Roku lived a very peaceful period because of Kyoshi's actions, and many would argue that he should have killed or at least prosecuted Sozin when he first started his conquest, instead he let him live... and we all know what happened next.
      Pointing out consequences does not means certain actions were wrong, it just shows that life isn't easy or a binary choice.

    • @zodiac5403
      @zodiac5403 Год назад +54

      @@scorpioninpink those consequences weren't immediate. They happened after long period of corruption. Because of kyoshi, Roku had a relatively peaceful life. All avatars made decisions with the worlds best interest in mind but you have to remember that they also come with their own set of consequences. Since you know what happened with Aang and Kora I'll tell you what happened with the 4 before them.
      Yangchen was born during a time of horrible political strife and mass gang wars, she was very harsh with her choices but it was because of that even some semblance of order was brought through out the land.
      However some of her choices also severely angered spirits and the fall out had to be shouldered by Kuruk who battled them alone in silence. It was because of this that Kuruk went down as one of the most worthless and unnoteworthy avatars to ever exist.
      Kyoshi wasn't even recognized as an avatar until late into her life. Yes she made some questionable decisions but you have to remember she wasn't thinking about corruption with in her own faction because of the absolute trust she had in them. Shin the conqueror was a murderous tyrant and no tyrant unifies a land without the people under him suffering for it in tenfold. You're right, the Earth kingdom would be unified , but at what cost?
      Roku was a famous pacifist, a noteworthy feat considering where he was born and what emotions they prioritize for powerful bending. With him he brought happiness but it was also because of his pacifism that the world later fell into great despair.
      No one can be perfect and only fools point out another's every fault ignorant to the others as well.

Like LoK had a lot of different bending techniques, even new ones like lava bending, but the show just treated them like superpowers and now an extension of character's personality or growth. Yun is able to come up with new techniques like paint bending because its a reflection and natural growth of his high levels of intelligence and precision, while Bolin is able to discover how to lava bend instead of metal bending because....reasons.

      I can get behind some ruthlessness in politics, but there was no reason to abandon Yun to his (presumed) death. A child he'd raised practically as his own. It was an absolutely brutal decision, and there wasn't even any real practical benefit to justify it.

    Interesting...
    This would also make her one of the most powerful blood blenders known to the avatar world...
    If I'm understanding it, she takes the water from your very blood and then condenses it so tight and freezes it all the way to the point to where its smashes out of your back... Ripping flesh and bone as it goes through...
    Creating giant crimson wings kind of like a blood eagle.
    I really like this ability it's very bad ass, and the fact that Kiyoshi knew it just shows on the type of avatar she is.

    • @kingol4801
      @kingol4801 7 месяцев назад

      Honestly, it is a no-brainer.
      Likewise, logically, earth benders should be able to rip out bones, since they are made of minerals that they can control.
      Air benders should just kill people instantly?
      Why? Vacuum. Vacuum == no atmospheric pressure == blood begins boiling internally.
      Avatar suffers from “Harry Potter” syndrome, where the show is about child soldiers going through war, but completely dismissed the real horrors of what that entails.
      Likewise, very few shows depict how super powers would act on human body. It is only a recent trend with “Invincible” and more notably “The Boys” that depict those abilities well enough.
      For example, In Gen V, blood benders just explode people to bits, among other things they can do.

      well, some water benders can bend blood within another person's body to control the person like a puppet
      Katara once used her own sweat, though in more desperate cases, she may have resorted to cutting herself and using her blood?
      the main point is that as long it's some kind of fluid, liquid, moisture, or any thing that has the slightest amount of water in it, water benders can bend it
      I don't suppose water benders have a "sixth sense" that lets them sense water sources nearby like Toph can use "seismic sense" to sense if there is earth nearby

      Right. There are some other options she could've tried first. Like putting him on probation, getting help that he needed to work through his own trauma for starters. Using murder only as a last result if he was about to go on a killing spree again. I agree with Aang, there are some cases where murder isn't the only option out there in dealing with foes like that. Fun was betrayed by those he thought cared for him, but there could still have been a chance to save him without murder. Kyoshi can be a bit too hardcore for my taste at times.

The reason Aang is so scary in his prime is because he’s a pacifist it’s his battle and struggle not to use the overwhelming power to get his way.
    Power changes people and when you wield such power to change the very fabric of society that’s worth exploring in this medium.

    • @kingol4801
      @kingol4801 7 месяцев назад +2

      Same with any bending.
      Earth bending - rip out all bones, since they are made of minerals.
      Air bending - create vacuum and kill people with explosive decompression. For those who don’t know - no air/atmospheric pressure == blood’s boiling point lowers to body temperature == all of your blood turns into vapor internally == death. That is how early jet pilots and unlucky space explores died.
      Fire bending - instead of casting fire ball, just create fire inside your opponent. Body will explode Superman-style, since it’s internal temperature just got raised by a few thousand degrees, causing all of it’s contents to evaporate.
      Logically any bending should be “instant-kill”.
      The show is very kid friendly, which is what results in this gimmicky non-lethal balance.
      However, powers in Avatar universe got nerfed so hard, to the point where real life firearms and explosives are just 9/10 times better.
