The red speck is the satellite connected to the radio tower that lore-wise is what gives you the map of the solar system. You sped past it at about 200m/s, and then lost it

It's a bad habit of mine to just fly toward things with reckless abandon, but I got there in the end :)

I really recommend fixing the L press, alternatively other controller/keyboard (keyboard was easier for me personally). Locking onto things makes it so much easier to navigate, between autopilot and being able to match velocity with them

yeah, it took me a while realize it wasn't working and I've been making sure to fix it in later episodes. it is incredibly helpful to have working.
