Well, it’s part of the province of Ulster There were 9 counties that make up the Ulster only 6 are in what is called North of Ireland, Northern Ireland or the six counties. It’s not a country but it’s part of the island of Ireland. It’s a statlet they don’t have their own flag national anthem. the people in the six counties choose to be British, Irish or both so it’s complicated. Many people that live in Northern Ireland are citizens of the republic Ireland. I spent time up there in September 2023 for the first time since I was a young adults and visited in the 80s. It’s lovely to see how it’s changed from back then. Both six counties and the Republic Ireland is stunningly, beautiful particularly if it’s a sunny day. I really love Derry!
Hi, just back from a few days in Northern Ireland, which we loved. Your video is excellent, and highlights all that is good about visiting Ulster. We didn’t do Londonderry/Derry but that’s for another visit. Thanks for posting, and we’ll be watching a lot more of your great videos 😀
This is a great video! Really looking forward to visiting Derry now. Have visited the Republic of Ireland, and headed back in mid may 2024 to visit Northern Ireland.
Makes me so happy to see people enjoying our wee country! I live in Costa Rica now and miss the Island very much! BTW - When it's sunny, Irish sun just kits different some how. I get burned more there than here in CR! lol
This is a much better video than most. I'm just wondering if you managed to get to the other end of the Giant's Causeway? It's on the Scottish island of Staffa and called Fingal's Cave? Mendelssohn even wrote music to it - Fingal's Cave Overture. Perhaps next time you go to NI you could check out the other end of it - starting from Newcastle (no, not that one! 🙂) and the Mountains of Mourne.
Fantastic video about my home country, one of the best I’ve seen, I’ve been leading groups on hikes throughout Northern Ireland/north of Ireland for 20+ years including the North Antrim Cliff Path route that you did.

C S Lewis, who wrote the Narnia series, used Dunluce as his model for the castle in Narnia. He used to visit the castle as a child.
also used by the Band Led Zeppelin for making an album cover and a film.
Enjoyed the video, you did a good job of showing my homeland 🇬🇧

Yes! We visited Northern Ireland in June.

You probably don’t know how many counties there is in Ulster…
I would love to explore them all!
It’s Londonderry mate 🇬🇧
Minor point but “Northern Ireland” isn’t technically a country but a statelet.
Actually it’s a “province”. One of the four constituents of the United Kingdom.
@@josephlarmor550 no mate, it’s in the province of Ulster
@@Sabhoh “… a country, province or region…” Wikipedia
@@josephlarmor550”…variously described as…” because it’s not a legitimate place with concencus of recognition.
@@Sabhoh Whether you consider it legitimate or not, it will exist until its citizens decide otherwise.
Delighted you enjoyed your trip to Northern Ireland - come back soon !
We would love to visit again!
