- Sir Keir Starmer has denied he is scaling back Labour’s ambitions as he launched the party’s doorstep offer to voters ahead of the general election.
The Labour leader unveiled a pledge card with six “first steps” his party would take if it were to win power as he spoke at a campaign event in Essex.
The steps include measures to invest in the NHS, education and policing, to set up a new national energy company and an elite border force, and to promote economic stability.

Lovely to see the Daily Express showing so much concern for the less well off in our society
Oh! Yes the Daily Express who gave a front page triumphant spread on Truss 's budget saying at last a tory budget. What happened to her I wonder?
What did you do with all those pies?
Frightening to think that this guy is pretty much guaranteed to be our next leader. Only goes to show just how bloody awful the Tories are! Tories, Labour.... Rock and a Hard place!
The illusion of choice is real though
The Uniparty doesnt care which party gets office,it will be Communism installed anyway
so clever clogs what do you propose?🤔
@@n2kosTheir plan is not to vote and just moan at everybody and everything . I could list things that have been achieved by voting for one particular party over another.
@@royboy565 You achieved nothing by voting. Nothing gets any better and voters are entirely responsible for it. Stop blaming those that didn't have a hand in it and you might start some taking self responsibility, I won't hold my breath though
Stramer lives in Daily Express's mind. Rent free 😂😂😂
Ha ha ha Daily Express, your idol Sunak is going down the drain. You clean you back passage with the professional journalist ethic..
End of the shaft London boy!
I’m sure his new, vanilla Labour will appeal to Express readers, I’m voting independence to get away from from the narrow hate filled little englanders.
The sooner we are rid of this terrible government the better for the entire country. Labour can only be better than what we have today. Seems to me that the Labour years to 2010 were quite good compared to current governance.
Dont think for 1 minute he will win, what people say and what they vote is not the same, ask Neil Kinock
Checked the last 14 by elections and council results lately? Real people with real votes.
@@royboy565 By elections are not a reason to think Labour will win,low turn outs and protest votes, when it comes to GE,its a differeant story, check out the worse run councils in England and Wales all Labour.
@@brianbassett4094Good try but nobody knows how non voters will vote. Low turnouts in the past has seen tories win by elections before. Just as many tory Councils are bankrupt bankrupt as Labour councils and another 30 or more are on the brink of bankruptcy due entirety because of tory cuts to council budgets. If Labour councils were that bad I doubt they would have gained councils and councillors. You sound as if you are clutching at straws.
Well im shocked. The Daily Express putting a negative spin on Starmers' proposals? Surely not.
Too little too late, they’ve had years to come up with policies…..U.K. is in for at least 5 years of depression and misery when the gormless British public only vote out of hate, not knowledge of what they are voting for.
The knowledge that the tories have given us record debt of 3 trillion, record NHS waiting lists, record food bank use, highest taxes for 70 years, record in work poverty, record evictions, first sitting P M to break the law etc. I think we know what we aren't voting for Tories or Reform (tories mark 2).
We've had 14 years of the worst govt ever to hold office in the UK. Like it or not Labour is the only alternative under our archaic fpp system of voting.
@@royboy565there is no choice, only the illusion of it, get a grip
@@Beyond_Belief534Then don't vote and just moan from the sidelines because that'll work.
@@royboy565 while you moan at me for not voting thinking you're making a difference by voting. Derp lol
Tweedle Dee tweedle Dum
starmer was a close friend of jimmy saville :) too bad for the kids at CBBCs if he becomes next PM.
Think you will find Thatcher invited Saville to number 10 on many occasions.
He will change his mind tomorrow😁😁
The first six lies by the Labour Party , but not the last
Asked a question by his good friend Beth, pathetic !
Fancy a journalist asking a leader of a party a question...... Shocking!
Just not inspiring.
I don't want to be inspired or have a leader full of charisma, I just want a reasonably honest competent govt. Tories couldn't manage it in 14 years of govt.
That labour is so far ahead and, as demonstrated, have no actual policies at all; is an indictment of the british public
More accurately - the voters.
Don't blame me for their mess 🤷🏻♂️
Repeating the tory propaganda. Go on line and you will see policies. Plus if you know anything about British politics, opposition parties list all the policies in the manifesto. Why tell the tories your policies? They pinched the non dom policy and the windfall tax policy after ridiculing both of them.
@royboy565 Boris Johnson had levelling up. Where is the policy principle here?
And you are going to say Johnson didn't mean it.
5 years of attacking personalities and no policies.
Next goverment is doomed. They will reap what they have sown and just be attacked relentlessly from day one.
☝thinks voting makes a difference lol
@royboy565 surly you can see that labour's conduct in opposition and their lack of policy or principle has already doomed the next goverment.
all mouth no go this guy will single handed destroy labor fact he is not the right man for labor i was labor voter not anymore
We need a nationalist government in power, our people first! Re-nationalision of our utilities, postal service and transport
One of the other small steps could be to teach janlul here how to spell the word LABOUR correctly.
I like labour party
I like cheese and onion crisps.
@@tatata1543I prefer plain myself.
