just bought these. they're pretty nice with a hard outer shell and rubber 'gasket' inner piece. haven't crashed with them and hopefully it never happens, but they'll definitely absorb and distribute the crash impact a whole lot better than without them.
Well it depends on the type and intensity of the off-road spill, but these engine head cover guards are designed to slightly flex on impact to disperse energy and prevent breaking. These are designed to help reduce damage in an impact, not to completely eliminate any possible damage. They also work well on-road against impact and sliding. -DrewZilla
This is one of those things that makes a GS too expensive for its own good. Besides the dealships and their expensive print-outs over-riding the customer. Avoid boxer engined motorcycles or get it bra-ed
I am thinking you are not skilled enough to maintain the bike yourself. These days, ALL BIKES ( and cars for that matter) ARE so expensive as to people will soon have to ride a bicycle! I am glad I learned the art of repair most anything! Thank you SWEET JESUS!

just bought a pair after two (!) off road spills off road , I had to paint the engine cover twice, so well worth the cost.
How well do these fare in offroad spills?
