Absolutely loved both The Lantern of lost memories and the Before the coffee gets cold series and was looking for similar reads. So I will definitely give The Kamogawa Food Detectives a chance.
Emma thank you for telling me about The Lantern of Lost Memories, I’m looking forward to reading it as soon as it’s available. I loved the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series. I just finished The Kamogawa Food Detectives. While waiting for The Restaurant of Lost Recipes to become available in October. The Lantern of Lost Memories sounds great. I always appreciate your recommendations! Best wishes to you🤗
Okay I am going to read Before the coffee gets cold. I have here but I am reserving it for next year. But since you said it will make me cry. It’s about time.
I also highly recommend The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa. It tells the story of a stray cat that finds a home and then goes with his owner to visit old friends to try and find the cat a new home. Half the book is told from the perspective of the cat and it's just as charming, lovely, and heart breaking as you can imagine. Nana (the cat) gives me slight Garfield sarcasm vibes at times. Some of my favourite quotes are, “However, I’m a grown-up cat and I restrained myself, so, everyone, feel free to shower me with praise”, “Humans always underestimate our language skills. Just ’cause they can read and write, there’s no need to act all high and mighty', and “Human beings are basically huge monkeys that walked upright, but they can be pretty full of themselves.”
