Do you want the whole list of 200 things to declutter from your home? 🤍 I’ve put together a FREE PDF checklist containing all 200 ideas just for you! You can download it here: bit.ly/200thingspdf
May I suggest you keep that old, broken umbrella in your car for instance, if it's still somewhat useful ? Not for you, but for your next good deed : next time you're driving while it's raining, if you see someone walking without an umbrella you can just give them your old one. It might end up in a trashcan when they get home, but at least they won't be soaking wet. I took a hitchhiker the other day while it was raining. He had no umbrella and I couldn't drive him to his destination but took him as far as I could and to a busier road. When he got out, I gave him this dollar store umbrella that I kept in my car for myself, in case I ever got surprised by rain. It's the kind of umbrella that flips over as soon as the wind starts and I have a better, stronger umbrella at home that I take when I know it's going to rain. But I didn't really need this one and wouldn't miss it. That young man was really surprised I gave him this umbrella and was grateful because he would still have to wait in the rain for someone else to pick him up. I told him not to worry as it had no value whatsoever and to pass it forward anyway he could. That's when I decided to buy some cheap umbrellas to keep in my car, not just for hitchhikers, but also for anyone I see on the side of the road struggling with the rain. So, if your umbrella has a broken rib for instance and you decide to throw it away, put it in your car instead and give it away to someone who needs it someday. They'll be grateful and you'll feel super good for doing such a simple thing 😉
I lost an earring at a public pool 3 years ago. I asked them to call me if it showed up. Maybe it's time to cut my losses and throw away the other earring. So thanks for the push LOL
Tip: when you go to prom or get married, find a dress that could pass as normal formal wear. That way, you can reuse it and you don’t have to buy new formal clothes for every big event and have clutter afterwards. I have already re-worn my prom and wedding dresses several times so that saves money and space (since there are only 2).
The skirt part of my daughters formal/prom dress looks like a perfect white bottom of a wedding dress. I told her she is half way there for her wedding dress. Shes not so keen but if moneys tight it may be a God send. The top is so versatile (a pastel crazy patchwork of tapestry, lace and beading) it actually looks great with jeans or a linen skirt.
There are companies that take old eye glasses and try to closely match your prescription to someone in need in 3ed world countries! Its worth trying to find one near you!
Thats prettymuchnormal in my country i didnt think ir was uncommom for yall😯😯 fyi i have my glasses for 4 years now but tho i really hate the color of the frame now.. it still does the job so im just waiting for it to give up on me.. maybe then ill buy new glasses 😂
@@roxariano4953 if you just hate the color of the frame you can paint it! If you also hate the shape of it you can ask in a store if they can reshape the lens to fit into a new frame: it's gonna be much cheaper than buying a brand new whole pair of glasses!
For buttons and string that come for mending, it’s a good idea to sew them to the label on the item, so you know what item they belong to, and if you get rid of it, whoever the new owner is will have the mending bits now
Buttons you can sew inside the clothing they belong to. That way, when you reject them, the button will also loose its value (when you do not sew yourself) or when giveing away, the next owner will get the spares too.
I seem to be a minimalist by nature. I own one scarf, one summer hat, one pair of gloves, 5 pairs of shoes, one umbrella etc. I always use stuff until its unusable and replace it, throwing the old thing away...
Now i may agree with a lot of these, i have to totally disagree with getting rid of your yearbooks. Believe me, when you reach my age you will love having them.
I have kept my first and last year of high school year books and decluttered the middle years...it's more so I can look up people's names if I see them/run into them though...
Agree - I hadn’t looked at my Yearbook in probably 8 or 9 years, but early in 2020 someone friend requested me. I took a look back and remembered them.
With how 2020 is going all I'm going to have left is pajamas and 2 nice tops😂 I had to do an initial purge of my closet with the mindset I'm going back to school in the fall and need more than pajamas.
Some call me crazy, but I only have one purse and I don't see the need for any more than that 🤷 I had the strap recently repaired on it as the clip broke that actually makes it a cross body bag. I feel like someone else would have bought a new bag while I think repair is the best option.
@@maudeprovost479 My neighbour got a rescue dog and I was able to pass on the accessories to them. You are absolutely right about giving them to an animal shelter instead of throwing them away 🙂
For prescription glasses try giving them away. Your local opticians can change out the lenses for a much smaller fee than a new pair of glasses. People with minimal money can really do with cheap glasses until they can afford a new pair!
I have been playing the minimalism game and these last few days have been scratching my head to come up with items. As I was watching the video I was pausing to go through some of the categories so I wouldn't forget! I think I found 40 or 50 items that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. I feel so productive!
I used to have a ton of costume jewelry, but i had to give it up because of allergy issues and switch to sterling silver. Many pieces i had were discolored or ugly, so i used the best parts of each piece to create new ones and I donated all of them. It was so much fun and I am happy to know someone can enjoy my beloved jewelry!
I haven’t used my skateboard in years but never gave it away, for sentimental reasons and because we had enough space. A few months ago (thanks to quarantine) I got into skating again and man, you can’t tell how glad I was that I didn’t give this baby away. Skateboards, bikes etc. can be way more expensive than you think and depending on changes in your lifestyle (or a pandemic) you can easily get back to them. So if you have the physical space, I can recommend keeping these. Great video btw :) Loved every other suggestion and gotta go trough some stuff again
I love when you do decluttering lists like this. I always find some weird peace knowing theres still so much I can declutter/areas that will always need work!
The old electronics and digital files ones are huge in my house right now haha. I'm living at home since I'm on break from college and I've made use of my free time to go through and transfer old files off of a pile of old laptops we have sitting around, transfer a dozen old photo discs onto a single flashdrive, etc. This week I've dug out the VCR that we still have and ordered an RCA to USB converter so I can digitize all of my mom's old VHS tapes so she can actually watch them easily (and we can finally recycle the VCR). After that it's onto digitizing the cassette tapes 😅
I recently decluttered old photo albums of when I was young. My parents made at least 8 photobooks...The books were also falling apart. I picked out all the pictures that I liked/had meaning to me, and tossed the rest. I bought new photobooks for them. I now have 3 photobooks with even some room for future pictures! 😁
This was such a great series! I don't comment often but I've been here for a while and your video quality is getting more and more amazing (I love all the b-roll!) and I'm so happy to see your channel grow (almost at 100k!) because you deserve it so much :- )
Your video ist amazing. Well done. Personally I use old paper and plastic bags to put my trash in the trashcan - so it's reusable and a little money saving hack☺️ I've used them for nearly six months and now I'm finally finished with the old bags from previous shopping trips ☺️
Same! I haven’t bought trash bags for the bathrooms in 5 years. If I start to get too many, or if there are big holes in them, I take them back to the store for recycling.
Thank you for helping free my mind from the 'what if...' barrier. I decluttered spices, frozen foods, necklaces, belts, stationery, single gloves and make-up. Because I was holding them for that hypothetical 'what if' day I'd need them. Next is the pot plant holders and gift ware items!
I have downloaded your checklist and I am now working through it, it has been really helpful. I also wanted to say that I really love your channel and videos!!🤍
That’s so cool! Really glad it’s been helpful for you! 🤍

As a dog owner and a professional dog walker who also boards dogs on a regular basis, I keep worn out/old... clothing items of any kind, pillows, blankets... and use them to create cheap toys, dog's bed filling and cover, rags... It might seems a lot of clutter to some but with 3 in-house dogs (including a chewer), everything has multiple uses. I probably permanently have 2 boxes full. Nothing better that a single sock for a chewable, throw away toy. No need for paper towels when you can just cut out of old clothes a small rag... Old umbrellas can be used to make a dog's coat, shoe to protect a bandage from the rain... Before getting rid of (or donate) anything, I always wish myself: can I use this in some way for the dogs?
My parents and I really want to actually have a garage sale this year. Our plans were for August...but with the pandemic, everything is kind of up in the air.
I'm redoing my closet today so I will double check these items. For subscriptions, I always schedule when they are due on my phone so that helps me get rid of ones I'm not using when the service is due to charge my account again--may be a good tip for people for forget. I schedule all of my bills this way, even ones that are being drafted from my account, as well as any free trials. Much easier than trying to remember it all in your head!
Thank you Ashlynne! This is such a great resource to have a list of 200 things to get rid of. I have been on this journey for about 10 months and this made me think about each category as you went through it.Take care!
I am not currently at tome but watching this video as inspiration. With each category you mention, a specific item or items pops into my head as something to declutter! Its like magic! I cant wait to go home and get rid of all of these things!
I find these videos really helpful. On the level that I can check myself. Looks like I have managed to tackle all these categories so I feel super glad. I have been decluttering for almost 5 years now in multiple rounds and waves. It is was also really hard for me to stop shopping and use what I already have. I feel like the more I declutter the more junk and mess I feel there is, even though there really isnt much left, my family and friends say so how better the place looks with less. Easier to clean, move, pack, anything. I just feel it is still way too much. So now my next goal is to digitalize all my paperwork, childhood art and photos and only keep which is absolutely necessary to be kept as a hard copy. It will be soooo much time but after I will feel good. You channel is an inspiration. Thanks.
Enjoyed revisiting your decluttering videos. I immediately just started decluttering my bathroom and night stand drawers. My bathroom drawers have been maintained pretty well however decided to repurchase my organizer with more relevant items we more frequently use like lens wipes, bandaid, flossing, cotton pads, hair ties and razors. So empowering to do a reset on my home. Now time for a late lunch.
When you write your Memoir you're going to find your calendars and your planners very handy for substantiating the dates on certain things that happened to you or your family
As many decluttering videos as I've already watched over the years, and as much as I've cleaned and minimized my belongings, these two videos definitely gave me even more great ideas of things to declutter and pass along! Thank you so much for putting the effort into making these, and so beautifully editing them to include little clips along with every numbered idea :D Wonderful tips and wonderful help! Have a great day!
If you have only one glove, keep it in the car for wiping off snow or for when you are filling your car up with smelly diesel. This will keep your normal gloves dry and smelling nice.
If anyone needs a good travel mug I recommend rtic coolers They have bottles and they stay hot/cold for a long time and are sealed tightly to avoid spilling!
I recently discovered your channel, your content is excellent. Plus, I'm a Patriots fan too! I'm from Uruguay, Southamerica. The Pats are popular in my country, and I haven't miss a game for like, I don't know, from the time Gamepass Internatial started to exist. @@AshlynneEaton I liked your other options too! But those two caused me to have a big lightbulb moment lol. I look forward to receiving the pdf checklist in my email and I will go through the whole list one by one :) thank you so much
Still decluttering from the last video! Lol. Thank you for inspiring me to just get it done NOW as waiting serves no purpose. Lifestyle skills for a clutter free life! Thank you so much for sharing ❤
I cleaned out my Closet today, I parted way with shirts that no longer fit or I no longer wear, it is so nice to be able to find the clothes I like wearing. I have 1 laptop & 1 tablet, however my Husband, well lets just say he has way more than enough computers! (He is an IT guy) :)
I had 2 cutting boards a few years ago, got rid of one. Small glasses in the kitchen I never used , some cooking supplies , multiple utensils also. I was able to donate to a friend's brother who was going through a divorce, and needed those things. Last year I had a china cabinet that had stuff I got rid of. Never had china in it. A friend wanted to get the style and loved the color. My mom was worried when she saw I posted it on Facebook to sell it. But when told her a friend was buying it, she was happy. She knew it was going to a good home, that has china in it.
Last week got rid of an chair was nkt going to be use and a pillow. I had lots of hangers everything your saying im doing thanks for the help well needed😁🧡
Yayyy so many things I can relate to! Once I am done with my Summer semester in a few weeks I am going to go BANANAS 🍌 and clean out/ donate/sell/throw SO many things away!! We are moving this winter so I am ready to use that as a good reason to become a minimalist-ish. Thanks for your content!! You are one of my go-to channels!!
I glanced at the video outline and was outraged as I thought you were going to tell people to declutter their pets!!! 😉 Some charities accept costume jewellery in those donation envelopes and in the U.K, we can donate old glasses at the optician and they go to people in need in the global south. Thanks for another useful video. x
I bought a fedora hat thinking it would cover up a hair disaster but I'm no hat person. Instead I have repurposed it as decor on my wall, i have it with my tapestry and guitars and I absolutely love it for that purpose and wouldn't want to remove it from my wall.
#87 21:27 I actually do go back and look at my old calendars like they're my photo albums, and reminisce about the events. That way I get a better picture of my life (knowing what year each memory happened) etc How do you digitize business cards?
oh man... you should've seen the state my disintegrating belt was in before I finally made it sole objective of a weekend shopping trip to replace it. sometimes, you just gotta get rid of even the things you do use on a regular basis to make room for better/be motivated to replace something that NEEDS to be replaced.
Ahhh socks 🙄 my husband wears the same brand sport-socks. And if one of Them had a hole. He wants me to keep it. Because if another sock has a hole you can make 1 new pair out of 2. But because the socks are old. 2 weeks later they also have holes 🙄🙄 He Just really love his socks
I do the same, honestly, it saves me a lot of socks. Of course sometimes both socks wear out at the same time but sometimes one proves to be more durable or one is just lost and ends up getting found some time later. As for my boyfriend, he just has a lot of black socks, and just randomly takes two of them even if they're different...
I get just one kind of dress sock and one kind of sport sock and one kind of wool sock. I don’t fold them as sets. I fold them individually and just grab two. Much easier.
I have a ziplock bag for singles because they’re good until they get holes! and there’s rarely more than 2 or 3 singles in there and I am really happy with that!
There is one area that I disagree with you and that is relying on digitization.. When your computer crashes to the extent of no recovery, you. have lost all of the information stored in your documents file. This has happened to me twice, had to buy new computers and we were unable to transfer those files. I use it, but do not rely on it for documents I may need. This is a good video and you have done a great job. I am looking forward to your upcoming videos.. Keep up the good work.

If anyone needs a good travel mug I recommend rtic coolers
They have bottles and they stay hot/cold for a long time and are sealed tightly to avoid spilling!
I love my contigo travel mug with one-hand usage and drip-stop & they come in awesome colors 😎
I have too much clothes and things in the house and this is what I need to start declutter thank you ❤
Good ideas, I try to declutter as much as I can, I really like your videos soo inspirational 💞
That’s great!! And thank you so much! 🤍
I have been waiting for this video!! I am so excited :)
Ahh that’s awesome! 🤍
I recently discovered your channel, your content is excellent. Plus, I'm a Patriots fan too! I'm from Uruguay, Southamerica. The Pats are popular in my country, and I haven't miss a game for like, I don't know, from the time Gamepass Internatial started to exist. I live like 7 thousand miles away from New England, but the passion is the same. Cheers!
To prevent superglue from drying you could try storing it in the fridge! Worked wonders for me
Bring old pet toys and treats to shelters! They can always use more
Thanks for calling me out on that missing earring one! I'm always holding out hope that they'll show up! 🥴
I love your videos, I love your voice, you are so calming and positive
A very helpful video, thank you! You encouraged me to get rid of many things that I don't really use or need
Thanks for another great list of stuff to consider ditching. YOU ROCK.
I Literally successfully decluttered my underwear and socks drawer, and make up drawer while listening to you!!! Thanks
Aww ashlynne is was just watching your 8 years old video about pimple removal with salt and ohhh girl you rock now I see how much confidence you have and how much you have groomed ... I love you sis ❤️💙❤️💙
Omg the scratched sunglass one and the tights. So true for me, thanks for the reminder!
For sure!! Glad you found some helpful tips 🥰
@@AshlynneEaton I liked your other options too! But those two caused me to have a big lightbulb moment lol. I look forward to receiving the pdf checklist in my email and I will go through the whole list one by one :) thank you so much
How do you keep coming up with new things to declutter?! 👍👍
Haha honestly I don’t know sometimes 😂
I just de cluttered my room. I found a bunch of stuff that I didn`t now what to do with.So your videos helped me alot.
Great new video, Ashlynne! Keep up the good work!❤️
Thank you!!
Still decluttering from the last video! Lol. Thank you for inspiring me to just get it done NOW as waiting serves no purpose. Lifestyle skills for a clutter free life! Thank you so much for sharing ❤

Oh that’s awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing 🤍
That Patriots shirt is amazing! Weeeeee are the champions 🏈
YES!! 🙌 Go Pats!
Haha love that! IT guys definitely love their tech 😉
Love that! Taking time to make sure the things you’re trying to declutter are going to a good home can make such a big difference! 🤍
Last week got rid of an chair was nkt going to be use and a pillow. I had lots of hangers everything your saying im doing thanks for the help well needed😁🧡
That’s awesome!
My grandma use to sew the excess buttons to the garment so it was there in case it was needed.
That is agreat idea.
Love this idea!
Great, inspiring video as always Ashlynne!
Oh that’s awesome!! Good luck with your decluttering! 🤍
Haha same w the minimalist-ish!
Love these specific ideas. Sometimes its what you need to actually get rid of things.
I started today! Thank you so much! Is a life changing
Old socks make great stuffing for small toys, like dog toys for example!
for a second i thought you were going to say to declutter our pets 😂😂
Hahaha nope! Just a category 😉
I glanced at the video outline and was outraged as I thought you were going to tell people to declutter their pets!!! 😉 Some charities accept costume jewellery in those donation envelopes and in the U.K, we can donate old glasses at the optician and they go to people in need in the global south. Thanks for another useful video. x
this video is speaking to me! Im inspired! OMG having you been secretly talking to my husband.,
I bought a fedora hat thinking it would cover up a hair disaster but I'm no hat person. Instead I have repurposed it as decor on my wall, i have it with my tapestry and guitars and I absolutely love it for that purpose and wouldn't want to remove it from my wall.
Christmas decor. If you have stuff that doesn’t suit your present style donating to Goodwill is a good idea.
#87 21:27 I actually do go back and look at my old calendars like they're my photo albums, and reminisce about the events. That way I get a better picture of my life (knowing what year each memory happened) etc
How do you digitize business cards?
Old socks I use for dusting rags, I have many camping things if ele goes out Cook, coffee, heat, lights👌🏻.
just re-watched this!
it came up with your support for Patricia. i love her too & am hoping for a collab!
Hi from Brazil! I absolutely loooove your videos! Please do more frequently for us!
Hey!! Thank you so much! I’ll definitely be trying to post more going forward 🤍
Sending love and good vibes from Colombia! ✨
Thanks! Same to you 🥰
oh man... you should've seen the state my disintegrating belt was in before I finally made it sole objective of a weekend shopping trip to replace it.
sometimes, you just gotta get rid of even the things you do use on a regular basis to make room for better/be motivated to replace something that NEEDS to be replaced.
Ahhh socks 🙄 my husband wears the same brand sport-socks. And if one of Them had a hole. He wants me to keep it. Because if another sock has a hole you can make 1 new pair out of 2.
But because the socks are old. 2 weeks later they also have holes 🙄🙄
He Just really love his socks
Hahaha I love that! My husband does the same thing sometimes
Hahaha lol my boyfriend is exactly the same. I feel your pain!
Thank you 😊 this was very helpful!
I will be using the list you linked ❤️
I love these videos
That’s amazing Elisa!! Thanks for sharing 🤍
I have a pair of shoes that has been glued more times than I care to admit 😂
Thank God I'm a leathersmith, so I can mend my own purses 😁
That hat really suits you!
You really came for me in this video 😂😭😭
I love your content! 🌺
Thanks so much! 🥰
I don’t know about letting go of that old puppy toy. Has good memories. Maybe keep 1?
maybe make a shadow box of the favorite puppy things? could be so pretty & a nice memorial?
Thank you so much for your help. I am in the process of decluttering my kitchen and I don't see the end of it!!!!! It is like pandora's box
Same here. I go through something and a month later I'm decluttering it again. It's like the more I release, the more I want to release
Part 1was lit!
🤍
Wire hangers are a must-have for breaking into your car
There is one area that I disagree with you and that is relying on digitization.. When your computer crashes to the extent of no recovery, you. have lost all of the information stored in your documents file. This has happened to me twice, had to buy new computers and we were unable to transfer those files. I use it, but do not rely on it for documents I may need. This is a good video and you have done a great job. I am looking forward to your upcoming videos.. Keep up the good work.
All of this is common sense although it's nice to have the list while you're decluttering
