I just met a guy who had Type 1 diabetes and was cured 1 and a half years ago. As his kidneys failed he got a double transplant. 1 new kidney + a new pankreas of course he now has to take about 30 pills every day but he in a way is cured. I although do expect that the pills cause issues in the long run. Question is why is this not tried more often? Is the pancreas really the problem as mine seems to look youthful according to my MRT. Just the cells that produce the insulin "islets of Langerhans" do not seem to work or be there? Why are they not visible? + Could you just grow your own fully working pancreas from your DNA? Kind of makes more sense to me and as diabetes sort of takes long, you would have enough time. Saves a lot of complications.
Regardless of me eating low carbs i wish i could eat potatoes again, the only thing i miss after changing my diet. I recommend roasted radishes or quinoa or lentils in place of your carb cravings. With some saffron seasoning or sazón and garlic you won't even miss it that much. Or at least it will be more satisfying
Why not, you can still eat potatoes 1-2x a month without harm your keto diet.. enjoy your life. By eating a lot of protein and fat before eating carbs would prevent sugar spike
I am on a Keto diet mostly My diabetes was in remission for 8 years, not anymore, Bp meds spoilt the show, I have either lost som of the pancreatic function or very insulin resistant. Keto is not doing the magic as it did before. I am never going back to high carb food, but would be willing to have stem cell transplant so I don’t have to take meds that have very serious side effects. Carnivore is not for me, I don’t tolerate animal protein as a primary source of my diet.
Eating should not be a hobby. Cutting carbs is sometimes and for some people very hard. I struggled with it everyday for years. I had to decide weather I wanted to live to eat, or eat to live. Once I truly made that choice it got a little easier. be kind to yourself in your struggle and remember tomorrow is a new day and new chance for change. 100 pounds down 100 more to go, diabetes gone.
Hmm interesting. Hubby has been strict carnivore for 180 days and his levels are no better. He does meat and some eggs only. I am beginning to wonder if his pancreas is just worn out.
If his A1C is high go on insulin. I did protein only didn't matter. Fasting at 200. At least get Basal insulin to give support through the day..so many want to try and prove it's just diet and they can reverse it.

He is skin and bones his diet has been good manging type 2. .on Metformin and linagliptin Why is he taking insulin injections ??
And what happens to these miracle transplant patients afterwards as they continue a high carb diet? Insulin resistance and a slow reversion to diabetes! You can't reverse engineer humans to thrive on high carb diets, our metabolism wasn't designed for this.

I do believe this might fix the pancreatic cell and regenerate insulin, but it doesn't mean it can fix metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is really the key to diabetes.
It didn't mention if this was Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes in the article? Now it would be something if this cured Type 1 but yes, Type 2 can be cured with dietary changes.
It would be more accurate and better information to your audience if you just wait a few weeks more to see further research release from China on the matter. The subject is on insulin and is a diabetic for 25 years. China open declaration is no small matter as this would mean losing face if the cure is not justifiable.
Does this make nonsense the term 'insulin resistance'? Is it the lack of insulin production it seem here or are Type 2 Diabetes producing enough insulin but the cells are locking the insulin out? It can't be both can it?
Based on what Westman says at the outset that diabetes can be reversed by a change in diet, I don't think he knows much about diabetes. If you're type 1, there is no way in hell a change in diet will "cure" it because too many beta cells have been killed off by the immune system--therefore little to no insulin is produced. Clearly, what the Chinese say they have done is replace these lost cells with cells that have been modified to produce insulin. If successful, this would cure type 1 diabetes. Type 2 diabetics produce insulin unless the beta cells have been worked to death causing them to stop working and producing insulin. In that case, they might need this replacement therapy.
@@guitarista666 It really irritates me when people talk about diabetes as if it is just one thing. That being said Westman did point out, eventually, that the man in China was Type 2. So, he had every right to claim that this is being done on a low-carb diet but he wasn't being mindful that he was being unclear to which type he was referring to at the beginning. This lead to confusion of people that knew type one is stated as incurable. What you wrote has no connection with my question about the term insulin resistance.
@@amazingmikemed Type 1 diabetics are not insulin resistant. Type 2 are. It is possible for type 2 diabetics to become type 1 and type 2 after many years of running high blood sugars which ends up destroying their insulin producing beta cells
@@guitarista666 Where did I say type 1 is down to insulin resistant? Type 2 don't turn into type ones, that is nonsense. Insulin is next but thats not affordable and it makes me gain weight because I was on it before.
You CAN do it! Keep going. I think the longer you have been diabetic, the longer it takes to recover. Are you walking? How is your sleep? Cut out the bad oils? How is your stress? All of these things will affect your metabolic health.
I have been diabetic for 35 years and after 1 year on keto/ketovore, my A1C is finally now 5.6. However, I do take 1,000mg of metformin twice a day. If you don't mind me asking, what is your height and weight? Are you tracking your macros? Are you consuming seed oils? Also, you may want to get a fasting insulin test. If your not already apart of Dr. Berry tribe, I would join it.
We can manipulate skin cells to form stem cells. It would thus be able to manipulate stem cells to differential into cells desired. Its even simpler to use one's own stem cells to start with. Talking about graft rejection is irrelevant in stem cell technology.
You don't seem to acknowledge the classic distinction between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes? My understanding is that Type 2 diabetics produce plenty of insulin but the body has lost the ability to respond to it.
@@Moochi19You just agreed with me then told me I was ignorant 😂. I'm sick of people seeing it as just an illness when they can correct it quite easily, they just choose not to. 2 examples - eggs and oats, eggs extremely nutritious and cheap, oats pretty good on protein as well, filling and cheap.
Yes and no. Yes because t2 diabetics still can produce insulin early in the disease because one of the primary causitive factors is insulin resistance rather than cell impairment or destruction, but no because insulin production still becomes progressively impaired as the disease progresses (especially if uncontrolled). Indeed, you can be rather insulin resistant but not diabetic, and some level of insulin production impairment often comes with t2dm

I thought the diabetic problem was, not the cells that produce insulin, but the resistance of the cells to insulin. So what's the good of this cure.
Interesting for type 1 maybe ?
A better fix, not putting carbs down your hatch haha
This be a good option for Type one diabetes. In children.Followed by functional medicine treatment for auto immune disorder.
Dr W=nicest guy on God's green earth. ❤
This is what happens when you treat symptoms and not cure it when you know you can
From my understanding of this, this should correct type 1 Diabetes as they are adding new islets.
For type 2 diabetes this sounds like saying "your pancreas does not have sufficient islets for your diet, lets add some more" :)
4 months ago, my A1C was at 9, now it’s at 4.9. Just take out sugar, rice, bread, and pasta from your diet. I don’t miss soda. I can make my own low-carb bread using almond flour, and use allulose (sugar substitute).
Almonds are full of oxalates 😢
Beware
@@DebbieTDP Yes, but almond flour comes from blanched almonds. The skin is where the oxalates are.
@@reyrey4261 Sorry, they're still full of oxalates.
Bad stuff.
Youre doing what Dr Westam calls the internet Keto. With all possible substitutes to anything that create cravings. Real keto doesn't require bread and cakes.
@@reyrey4261 sure you cannot make bread out of 22 nuts 🙈😁
Almonds
Almonds are concentrated with a range of vitamins and minerals, yet they are also high in oxalates. One ounce of almonds, or about 22 nuts, contains 122 milligrams of oxalates.
@@DebbieTDP Nah, I’m just giving options. Moderation is key. There’s always food substitutes to make us feel comfortable. I haven’t made bread yet, but I’ve made keto ice cream and candies using allulose.
Needed to specify this is for type 2, not type 1
I have insulin resistant type 2 diabetes because my pancreas gave up according to my doctors.. havent had any side effects regarding the pancreas yet.
Excess insulin results in insulin resistance. Figure that in.
That seems like great news
How can i get this tretment??
Go to China
Go to China and speak to a doctor there about it in greater detail and then make a video explaining it to everyone.
I have MALS.. will I become diabetic?
It is about Type 1 not Type 2 - the low carb folk mostly deal with Type 2.
Would be super great.
Regardless of me eating low carbs i wish i could eat potatoes again, the only thing i miss after changing my diet. I don't care if people wanna judge me but if they have a stem cell that can cure me so i could eat potatoes again i would do it. Now that i know how to modify the way my carbs are without getting diabetic blood sugars, id do things alot different. If only i could eat a lushes patatoe again😢 lol
This is a very human thought, nobody can blame you for missing potatoes. They are amazing. Have you tried to cook it, cool it in the fridge overnight and eat a small portion of it after ? It reduces the glucose spike quite a lot. Might be helpful for you if you wana enjoy once in a while.
I recommend roasted radishes or quinoa or lentils in place of your carb cravings. With some saffron seasoning or sazón and garlic you won't even miss it that much. Or at least it will be more satisfying
Me too…
Why not, you can still eat potatoes 1-2x a month without harm your keto diet.. enjoy your life.
By eating a lot of protein and fat before eating carbs would prevent sugar spike
This dude and Biden have much in common.
I am on a Keto diet mostly
My diabetes was in remission for 8 years, not anymore, Bp meds spoilt the show, I have either lost som of the pancreatic function or very insulin resistant. Keto is not doing the magic as it did before. I am never going back to high carb food, but would be willing to have stem cell transplant so I don’t have to take meds that have very serious side effects. Carnivore is not for me, I don’t tolerate animal protein as a primary source of my diet.
Bro, may God heal you, can I get your Facebook, if you don't mind...
Clearly what is best is to not get T2 diabetes but it is a medical marvel in itself.
It sure sounds like you are talking about Type 1 IDDM.
We cant cure Type i with diet stem cells for that?
Eating should not be a hobby. Cutting carbs is sometimes and for some people very hard. I struggled with it everyday for years. I had to decide weather I wanted to live to eat, or eat to live. Once I truly made that choice it got a little easier. be kind to yourself in your struggle and remember tomorrow is a new day and new chance for change. 100 pounds down 100 more to go, diabetes gone.
Yeah I did too "ribeye" 😂
Arrogant fellow. What exactly does he think he is 'debunking'?
Hmm interesting. Hubby has been strict carnivore for 180 days and his levels are no better. He does meat and some eggs only. I am beginning to wonder if his pancreas is just worn out.
If his A1C is high go on insulin. I did protein only didn't matter. Fasting at 200. At least get Basal insulin to give support through the day..so many want to try and prove it's just diet and they can reverse it.
Dad type 2 but had chemo they put him on insulin injections cause they said it be easier and told him to keep taking the injection and still on diabetic tablets ..8 years after remission..I'm pissed off
On stains his mind is going . He is skin and bones his diet has been good manging type 2. .on Metformin and linagliptin
Why is he taking insulin injections ??
Did the research address type? I would have assumed this pertained to Type 1.
This is how the junk food companies will stay in business.
They'll stay in business because we are almost to the point where being thin is abnormal and being overweight is normal.
@@makaisenkijust ignore societal trends and you'll see that it's all meaningless after the fact
The big questions here are the cost and the waste produced just to make this happen in a single person
And what happens to these miracle transplant patients afterwards as they continue a high carb diet? Insulin resistance and a slow reversion to diabetes! You can't reverse engineer humans to thrive on high carb diets, our metabolism wasn't designed for this.
What a bad guy you are, it necessary for the big corporation, life long medication. They fill their pocket, the government is happy, you alone loose, as usual.
A good question and comment.
Wish stem cells treatment could be use to fix kidney also😢😢😢😮😢
If you have diabetes type 1,or type 2, you must test your self 4 times a day and before bedtime you are your best Doctor eat a good balance Diet
You You will see the big difference 😂
I do believe this might fix the pancreatic cell and regenerate insulin, but it doesn't mean it can fix metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is really the key to diabetes.
Is this an English lesson or a medical "study" review? The review was one sentence.
It didn't mention if this was Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes in the article? Now it would be something if this cured Type 1 but yes, Type 2 can be cured with dietary changes.
Or is it Covid 32?
It would be more accurate and better information to your audience if you just wait a few weeks more to see further research release from China on the matter. The subject is on insulin and is a diabetic for 25 years. China open declaration is no small matter as this would mean losing face if the cure is not justifiable.
Does this make nonsense the term 'insulin resistance'? Is it the lack of insulin production it seem here or are Type 2 Diabetes producing enough insulin but the cells are locking the insulin out? It can't be both can it?
Based on what Westman says at the outset that diabetes can be reversed by a change in diet, I don't
think he knows much about diabetes. If you're type 1, there is no way in hell a change in diet will "cure"
it because too many beta cells have been killed off by the immune system--therefore little to no
insulin is produced. Clearly, what the Chinese say they have done is replace these lost cells with cells
that have been modified to produce insulin. If successful, this would cure type 1 diabetes. Type 2
diabetics produce insulin unless the beta cells have been worked to death causing them to stop working and
producing insulin.
@@amazingmikemed Type 1 diabetics
are not insulin resistant. Type 2 are.
It is possible for type 2 diabetics to
become type 1 and type 2 after many
years of running high blood sugars
which ends up destroying their
insulin producing beta cells
@@guitarista666 Where did I say type 1 is down to insulin resistant? Type 2 don't turn into type ones, that is nonsense. They are still type two's even if they start taking insulin(which they shouldn't be on). They're different diseases, but if type one's become obese then they can say they got both but it doesn't work the other way around.
@@amazingmikemed Apparently you
don't know anything about diabetes
that is worthwhile, and unfortunately,
too thick in the head to listen to someone
who does.
You can shorten your clip to just one minute.
You do not ask to be a diabetic so make it go away as quick as you can
Ive had diabetes 20 yrs and absolutely cannot get my sugars under 175 even with Metformin. When I wake up, its over 200. I have been keto for 3 yrs - 10 or less carbs a day. Ive tried low fat, Ive tried carnivore, I have tried fasting. Nothing helps. I got a c peptide test because I wanted to see if I was type 1 but it was high so thats not it.
Have you tried Berberine? Light exercise?
Whatever you do, don't give up and take insulin. (Your body is already resistant to insulin... why ad more?)
You can’t cure T1 diabetes with healthy life style only T2 which is a very tiresome lifestyle with insulin injections 4 times a day
This was tried on a T2D?? As a T1, I'm a little pissed! What a waste of a trial.
You didn't answer questions if China actually found a cure. Instead you kind of direct customers/patients to yourself
After you get the pancreas working but keep eating a high carb diet, won’t you get diabetes again?
Everybody has opinion
I wonder if the good doctor has missed that stem cells are for type one. I know someone who had this successfully done to cure his type 1 diabetes.
We can manipulate skin cells to form stem cells. It would thus be able to manipulate stem cells to differential into cells desired. Its even simpler to use one's own stem cells to start with. Talking about graft rejection is irrelevant in stem cell technology.
I would assume the article was focused on type 1.
The study was with a type 2 diabetic male. You may read it in Cell Discovery.
You don't seem to acknowledge the classic distinction between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes? My understanding is that Type 2 diabetics produce plenty of insulin but the body has lost the ability to respond to it.
Yes because of their crap eating choices 😂
In some people type 2 diabetes can result in loss of pancreas islet cells. They no longer produce plenty of insulin.
@SweetSassyBull most people eat crap, food affects people in different ways e.g. genetics, social economics etc. You sound ignorant.

Please differentiate what is diabetics type 1 and 2 first.
China claim to treat diabetic type 1.
You seem to talk about type 2 diabetics.
That would be like all these people on these diets and they stop them after 90 days because oh I’m healthy now I’ve lost all the weight that I want now I’m gonna go back to eat and shit again and get unhealthy again because I am healthy. that’s the kind of common sense you guys you’re You know how many times I’ve done on this carnivore diet. I’m quitting after 90 days because I’m healthy and I’ve lost 100 pounds and now I’m gonna go eat crap again and feel like crap again and get all that weight back and start over. Come on come grab some brain, you’re gonna stick with it and stick with it or you’re gonna quit and you shouldn’t have started it in the first place
Why do you guys ramble on but never state type2 or type1 (juvenile) which has a lot of information to be able to draw a conclusion.
