Though not the most visited devotional site in Ireland, the ancient pilgrimage site at Lough Derg occupies a powerful place in the Irish imagination.

Scholars think this site predates Roman occupation and the word Purgatory is actually derived from the Latin purgatorium or cleansing sweat lodge located in the original cave on the island.
Catches the atmosphere of the island in a short video... excellent- was to go the week after next but Covid 19 means it is not possible.
Can anyone help me with my religion summer test I have to write a letter as if I have just completed a pilgrimage to Lough derg and explain what u have to do in a pilgrimage
