There's all types of playstyles, from builders in survival and creative, hardcore survivalists, redstone engineers (people have gotten a simpler version of Minecraft to run in Minecraft), PVPers, those who use mods to do basically anything from dark souls, super hard modes, and pokemon, as well as the countless servers with minigames and whatnot. But just going back to the regular version, yeah it can be rough if you don't know what you're doing or are bad at the game (I fall into the latter). Genuinely there's some crazy and impressive things and people out there around this game. Would recommend checking out videos like The Legend of Technoblade and/or The Legacy of Technoblade for a snippet of one player that a lot of people (myself included) really loved.
this guy got the 1.9 update skeletons where mojang upped the aimbot of the skeletons so hard they could 360 noscope you from 100 blocks also undead mobs without helmets burn during daylight but wearing a helmet stops that from happening
