  • We spent a weekend in Abiquiu New Mexico, camping at Riana Campground which is run by the Army Corp of Engineers. It is a large campground with some electric/water sites, some dry camper sites, and some tent only sites. You can book at Recreation.gov website. Dry sites are $12 and are half price with an access pass. They said the lake is low but it is not as low as so many others in the state. We saw people boating, paddle boarding, canoeing, and swimming in the lake.
We also did a Day Pass at Ghost Ranch to check it out one morning. We did a short hike and walked around the grounds. The highlight for us was the museums. Wow, those are well worth the $10 cost of the day pass alone.

I forgot to mention... our only negatives to this campground were that it did seem to be crowded, but it was a holiday weekend so maybe other weekends it would not have been so busy. The other negative was that the shower facility didn't seem as clean as we would like. Most state parks we have visited lately have immaculate restrooms - so it may be an unfair assessment. They weren't filthy but they weren't spotless either.

On weekends it is crowded and very noisy due to all the "Power Boats " and similar . I have been to this Lake many, many times. IT IS utterly beautiful with the Most gorgeous Sunsets

So many times i have been to this beautiful Lake. With the Most gorgeous Sunsets you will ever experience. Walking from the Campside along the cliffs there comes a Spot where it is possible to go down the cliffs to a little bay which is great for swimming. Wishing I'll be there once again, but I am stuck in Germany. Have a great time. How is the waterlevel ?

it was our first time there so we don't know if it was up or down from the past. It was a lot more full than Heron Lake, for sure.
