I cannot imagine losing your husband while pregnant with your 11th child. It’s a horror that shouldn’t have ever befallen anyone.
Stop breeding
A very strong. and smart lady!
I think Martin Lawrence said it best, "No one is immune to the trials and tribulations of life." Amid all the trials and tribulations during her lifetime, Ethel Kennedy has remained a very strong woman, and has therefore made her contributions to the betterment of humanity. I wish both her and her family members nothing but the very best. Plus, I hope that Ethel is able to still enjoy life with however much longer she has to remain in this world.
Ethel Kennedy's last child, Rory, made a lovely documentary about her mother several years ago that can be found on RUclips. Although the documentary does show the painful losses that Mrs. Kennedy suffered, it really demonstrates much more about her resilience, grit and determination to give something back and to help people who are less fortunate than her.
than SHE, grammatically.
A co-worker told me that Ethel was new money 💰 her father was a worker and raise from poverty and Jackie was old money because her mother married a Bouvier.

Ethel is a dear lady. Sorry for all of the tragedies that has troubled her life. Justified in saying no to letting Sirhan out of prison.
A recent report said that RFK Sr. was shot from the back. Sirhan was facing him. Sirhan was the scapegoat. Someone else took the Senator out.
Interesting that RFK Jr says Sirhan did not kill his father and should be released from prison.

Look at the hand gesture made by the man to the right of Bobby at the podium at the Ambassador Hotel. WTF ???
Ethel Kennedy, you are a true testament to determination, strength, and courage. Thank you for continuing on through many trials.
I saw her a few times coming through Boston airport when I worked there years ago. She told me she was so afraid of flying, I felt bad for her.
I can certainly under her fear 😨 of flying considering losing her parents in an a plane crash. Also, she saw what happened in her husband's family due to plane crashes.😳 If I were Mrs. Ethel, I would not be comfortable flying either.
She is truly a remarkable woman. ❤️
God Bless Ethel Kennedy and her loved ones.
Her parents, George and Ann Skakel had died in an air tragedy over Oklahoma in 1955. A few years later, in 1966, her brother, George Skakel, Jr., also died in a plane crash. Ted Kennedy was in a plane crash where he nearly died, not to mention his brother and sister, both of whom died in separate plane crashes. Later, JFK Jr., we know what happened to him.
@@travelseatsyellowlab I do remember Ted being in an accident but I had no idea about her parents. Very sad
Even though I am a Republican, that doesn't stop me from admiring Ethel Kennedy. She was a very strong woman who loved her husband and her children. She was strong in her faith and raised her 11 children in that manor. She was a fabulous mother and made their lives intertwined with their father's career. She was very creative and showed her children fun and creative things to do. She gave birth to their last child,Rory, a baby girl not long after Robert Kennedy's assignation. Rory was named after the last of the Irish Kings. Ethel is a great humanitarian in her own right by passing on the values and beliefs of her and her late husband. May God bless Ethel Kennedy and her family.
With the Kennedys
assassination democracy has disappeared. Nowadays Republicans and Democr. do not differ in US (anywhere in the world). There is none democracy neither such party as both parties are ruled by the same people /- corporations . It's time to wake up.
Fabulous mother? Not at all.
That is just way too much pain to endure
What a wonderful woman to keep going after loosing so much she is very strong
I loved the Kennedy family
She was a totally nutty Mom and maybe not a bad thing but she did allow her children to be destructive. Some Hotels and Lodges in Colorado banned the family because the kids were allowed to run wild.
“Maybe not a bad thing”? They destroyed our home in Aspen & refused to remunerate in full. Other owners eventually banned them from renting in many CO locations.
This is the Ethel Kennedy I read about. Every book and article painted her as a neglectful mother. Her ELEVEN children all had problems.
Sadly, this is typical for Ethel and the other Skakels. They have no regard for anyone whatsoever.@@J-Flo
They are a bit untamed in my view too. Very disrespectful.

I've read at least 5 bios of Ethel Kennedy; not ONE of them portrays her as a tragic figure. She was and is, larger than life, a rapscallion in the best sense of the word, and if she had one failing, it was her myopic love for Bobby Kennedy. We have adages like "loyal to a fault" for a reason, and she fell into that category. For her, the Kennedys could do NO wrong, and no matter the transgression, the wagons had to be circled to protect the name.
Neuropathy helps 4:57 4:57
She didn’t want her grandchildren dating Taylor Swift because she thought Taylor was using them for publicity. Major mistake.
Great comment….And yet, despite bearing 11 children, enduring all that tragedy, somehow that myopic love and loyalty has seen her through to 95 and counting.
@@plantsoverpills1643 Yes, she has a spine of steel. When she dies, her epitaph should read "A life well-lived."
I'm just finishing Oppenheimer's unauthorized biography. I found it really odd that she "divorced" her own family I listened to an interview with RFK Jr. who said he'd never met his Skakel cousins until the Moxley trial, when he becaome involved to help his cousin.
She was not a fabulous mother. I just finished a biography of her. She was raised in a crazy household by derelict parents and lots of alcohol and she did the same in raising her kids. Before he died, David said his home, Hickory Hill was a dump it was so dirty. And his mother as just not around. Jackie and others raising children in that generation wouldn’t allow their children to be around Bobby’s kids after he died because it was so dysfunctional. I truly feel very sorry for David and his struggles with drugs and alcohol and his mother. That story broke my heart.
Ethel Kennedy is not a tragic figure at all . Yes,.she has had tragedies happen to her....yet,. She is a strong person...has never given up either and kept on going. Strong like Rose and Jackie

Interesting and sad video at the same time
And a long line of scandal.
Let's be honest.
She was a lousy mother. And she pushed Bobby to run for president. She was nasty to Jackie and constantly berates all around .
Yeah, that’s why her kids had so many issues (mostly the sons, not so much the daughters). Not to make a comparison, but she was not the mother Jackie was.
Maybe she was nasty to Jackie because Jackie and Bobby were having an affair. Everyone close to them knew about it.
@@Colorbrush21 She made fun of Jackie before then, she and his sisters. Jackie's father was rich, but he was also a drunk loser. Jackie acted better than them, but wasn't competitive. They didn't consider Jackie on of them.

@@mamanemcakesandtreats3974 That comes from several sources.
They were the most powerful family …they are not anymore.
You family never have and never will be, so why do it matter about her family?
I respect her for never remarrying. What a loyal, honorable woman! She spared her children a lot of heartache by accepting her fate and raising her children by herself. Being a young widow with eleven children, being in the public eye and losing the love of your life in such a horrible manner must have been a nightmare. Her resilience is admirable and remarkable.
Even if she had wanted to marry again - no man would have liked to have ELEVEN STEPCHILDREN.
I mean who would marry her with 11 kids and then who would follow Robert Kennedy? Whoever she would've been with would've been in her shadows
She abused her children, but let them run wild. Neighbors described them as holy terrors. She has at lot to atone for during her time in purgatory. She didn't teach her children well; thus, the horrible decisions they made. She bullied Jackie, along with Bobby's sisters. Not nice people.
Going through the humiliation of Robert's affairs and then experiencing such a loss while having 11 kids to raise must have been incredibly difficult. However, having a nice home, more than sufficient income, and staff to nanny the kids, clean up, cook, etc. does provide a very soft cushion that other moms throughout history who have experienced similar tragedies would have been most grateful for.
11 kids a lot. But many are saying she was awful to her kids so mistreated them
This woman to me is amazing....Yes I think the "whole" Kennedy Family had more than their share of tragedy To have a large family back in the 50/60's was commend but to do this without a Father was not..RFK was also a leader in the civil rights movement and he took on the mob two things that no one else seem to address with the exception of Martin Luther King Jr. I think our Country would be a far better place today had he not been murdered, AND america is still being lied to about that
Helen, I so agree.
He was great, imho. When he was coming to my city, and I was volunteering on his campaign, a thuggish man asked me to be his companion in the car and so on. I said, 'sure' but, I had no idea what was going on. I feel positive this request came from the brain of the thug, not from Bobby. Because there wasn't anything like that, that I ever heard about him.
She's not the angel that this video makes her out to be.
How come explain
@rocketmom60: If you are crass enough to make a comment like you did, you should offer examples. If I say you aren’t the Angel your friends and family believe you to be, then I should be able to explain. However, she was perhaps not a strong parent to her sons after their father died based on the scandals and resulting deaths they were responsible for or the continued defense of her nephew over clubbing a neighbor to death.
@@johnpickford4222 I remember and the family of the victim claims that because he was a Kennedy he will be declare innocent. I never know that Ethel that she defended her nephew who kill a neighbor the way that pirates kill they enemies. The Kennedy’s always get out wait with murder.
Ethel employed a LOT of household help to keep house and raise her children, but after her husband’s assassination, her shortcomings as a mother became apparent. She could not and would not discuss their father’s death with her seven sons (the four daughters appeared less problematic), punished them severely for minor, attention-seeking infractions, and usually outsourced responsibility for her teen sons to boarding schools and other adults. Several sons suffered from drug addiction (including RFK Jr., whose last arrest for heroin occurred, IIRC, when he was thirty). Son David died of an overdose in 1984; son Michael, throwing around a football on skis, skied into a tree and was killed instantly in 1997. Michael also had been having sex with his family’s teenage babysitter for several years.
Rocketmom. I wholeheartedly agree . Indeed , a quite dreadful woman plus being a cruel and dreadful mother . Yes, this is just purple prose PR to support the myth .

What a wonderful lady, with a beautiful heart!
This video skipped Ethel's brother, George Jr, who also was killed in a plane crash in 1966.
When Bobby died her nuanced reaction was to throw her son RFKjr right out of the house. "Get out!" Why? I guess because he wasn't the one she wanted. No wonder he's so cold to women. But just think how that must have been for him. Suddenly, his father's been murdered. Suddenly his mother can't stand the sight of him. He moves in with the homosexual sidekick of his father's generation who had a crush on him. Weird but-- he's too young to be on his own. Very terrible start in life, let's face it. And she-- I'd say she's got a lot of shortcomings. Too much simplicity. I haven't read a biography of her, I haven't seen a film about her, but there just wasn't much parenting or making sure kids were safe among the Skakels, nor in that family, either. I bring this up on behalf of RFK jr only.
Ethel kicked RFK Jr. out of the house because, as she said, "I'm Ethel Kennedy." She did not need a reason other than that of all her kids, she disliked RFK, Jr., and David. Her mother, Mrs. Ann Skakel, was exactly the same way. When one of Mrs. Ann Skakel's son's behavior erred beyond what she was willing to tolerate, she simply shipped ALL of her sons off to boarding schools and camps. Eventually, she tired of her daughters as well, and one by one, married them off or shipped them off to Catholic boarding schools so she could socialize and travel without responsibility. For the most part, Ethel's kids were never around the Skakels because RFK would take the liberty of taking one of the Great Lakes Carbon Corporation airplanes without the Skakels' permission. He had no respect for the Skakels, and they, in turn, did not like the Kennedys.
@@travelseatsyellowlabThat's interesting. I have never heard this version before. Where did you learn about it. I would like to read the book if there is one.
@rhondabitler5474 there's a comprehensive biography of Mrs. Kennedy called "The Other Mrs. Kennedy," that lays everything out. Even in recent years, Mrs. Kennedy and Bobby have despised one another.
I agree 💯 %.
@rhondabitler5474 Collier and Horowitz wrote a book called "The Kennedys." Read the section called "The Lost Boys." Quite eye-opening. Ethel's oldest boys (Joe, Bobby Jr, and David) were a mess after the assassination, as was their cousin Chris Lawford.
Ethel is an unsung hero. Rarely mentioned but present to her causes.❤
Don't worry, God knows she's wonderful!
I find Ethel to be a better person than Rose Kennedy. Ethel deserves credit where due.
So we're omitting the Kennedy's links to early organized crime and illegal alcohol transportation...got it, Carry on.
Hmmm
This is about Ethel.
Ethel had nothing to do with that. That was old Joe.
That was Joe Kennedy. Ethel had nothing to do with Joe Kennedy Sr.
Their wealth didn’t come only from politics….
Ethel was born into wealth as her father was a railroad industrialist in Chicago.
She skated at Lloyd Center in Portland with her Husband before they headed to California...and his Death. She was very small, petite ,constantly smiling.... Didn't fall , He held her up.
Eleven children. Crazy. That in itself deserves a medal. And then to have the children grow up in the drug era. Ruined so many lives.
Eleven children is a lot, but the woman was not up all night with babies, feeding and diapering and bathing one after the other, while cleaning/cooking/etc.
The servants basically raised the children and some were sent to boarding schools.
She wanted to have even more children than Rose, and she did.
Ethel lost 2 granddaughters as well
I do knows that who were them she had has 12 children.
Ethel had eleven children, one born five months after RFK’s death.
And the firstborn great-grandson
She also recently lost her youngest and last surviving sibling, who was just 90.
We shouldn’t idolize ppl or families. Ppl aren’t perfect.
I.. cant even grapple having so many of your family members die so tragically. There must be so much pain and trauma steeped in that family line for so many to have died from over doses as well. I dont believe in curses but... you have to wonder
We must trust in God’s mercy. I pray for the Kennedy family, especially Robert, John, & their families.
They just suffered another tragedy with the death of Ethel's last surviving sibling.
🤣
@firstname_lastname so many died because they lived dangerously. Often alcohol or drugs were involved. Most of them were very impulsive people and didn't give others another thought. Horrible people.
They weren't cursed, they were reckless and careless, with their lives as well as others. One poor girl was paralyzed because of one of the boy's reckless driving.
She may be admirable for her devotion to her husband and family but when you are complicit in covering up murders and rape, that’s not an honorable or admirable trait to have. Anyway I don’t find the Kennedys as a great family. I consider them trash with loads of money. If it wasn’t for the money and intimidation, in other words a normal family, family protection services would have been called on them and many of them would be serving time or ex-cons. Sorry to be such a downer but they really are a horrible family with Joe sneaking in to his daughter’s room to have his way with the friends and purposely putting his oldest daughter in an institution because she might of had mental deficiencies and having her given a lobotomy that turned her into a vegetable for the rest of her life. And Rose was no better. She was a horrible mother, too. I am sorry but if I met a male Kennedy and he wanted to marry me I would run as fast as I could. I heard Caroline K. Schlossberg was just absolutely terrible to the Bessette family after the deaths.
@ProudKansan08 Caroline's husband was horrible to them also. The Kennedys think they are above the law and can do whatever they please. The lapdog media worships them and covers for them.
Tragically, her final surviving sibling recently died at only 90.
This is incorrect. Robert Kennedy didn't win the senate seat in 1968, he won that in 1964. His run for the presidency was in 1968. Two completely separate events.
❤ poor lady😢
You forgot the loss of her brother in a plane crash in 1965 also. A year later his widow choked to death.
I had forgotten about that.
Good Lord!
Her last surviving sibling also died recently at only 90.
It’s very odd how many people in and around this family died in plane crashes. To know one person who died in a plane crash is fairly rare I can think of 6 that died in this family in a plane crash including Ethel’s parents.
It’s just statistics. They were wealthy so they flew way way more than the average person.
The Skakel family is notoriously reckless, and the plane crashes are just one of the kerfuffles they've been involved in.
Now it's rare, it wasn't so rare back in the day. The FAA didn't just spring from Zeus's forehead the day that planes were invented. JFK Jr and Kathleen were killed due to severe recklessness, no other pilots would take off in those storms except JFK Jr and Kathleen's husband.
The plane crashes that took the lives of Ethel’s parents and brother weren’t a matter of booking ill-fated commercial flights. Her father bought a badly maintained airplane, used it for business, and it crashed. Her brother forced the pilot of a chartered plane to fly INSIDE a canyon, and it crashed. Her alcoholic brothers also were extremely careless with cars, guns, and knives.
So true. It was said somebody smelled gas on her father's plane and they ignored it. Unbelievable.
What a STRONG woman. Now, a woman gets wolf-whistled and has a nervous breakdown. Ethel was a hero!
So? Every woman now has to endure what she endured? She was indeed a strong woman but that doesnt make other women who go through less weaker.

If you read a description it's almost unbelievable, what he achieved. He must have been a conventional science believer then. It's just too confusing.
I feel bad for all Kennedy women, and associated women, however, they did have voices for all women when it was said and done. They had voices when even not speaking through alcoholism, suicide, and perseverance through the atrocities and degradation they endured. This would not work with today’s social media. Black Jack and Rose were a twisted and sick couple, there should be a 20/20 documentary on them.
I am about the same age as Ethal Kennedy. My most recent memory of her was when one of her children wanted to participate in some activity, but was not allowed by the person in charge because there was no more room for anyone else at the time. When this was reported to her, Ethel immediately confronted that person letting him know that her children were always entitled to special consideration because they were Kennedys, and should always be given first choice in the future!
She’s entitled
I've heard many stories like that.
So that's probably why she never felt she had to pay for anything. So gross.

Wasnt she an alcholic
They truly think they are better than everybody else. So unbelievably entitled. She stiffed many restaurants and stores.
Ethel is NO hero.
I am not sure what kind of spell the Kennedy dynasty cast upon the American public, because once you examine their lives for how they really lived them you see much to be desired in terms of moral integrity. As a former Catholic my family almost exalted this group to sainthood. We loved the idea of a Catholic president in office. Too bad that same “Catholic” president was a serial adulterer. And his brother was not high on the sainthood scale. Now I know we all have our moral failings but let’s be truthful about them and not paint the rosy picture it isn’t. For all her admirable qualities like loyalty, and zest for life Ethel could have been a better mother to her children. But she was raised the same way so it’s no wonder. One thing is for certain, for good or for bad the Kennedys left an indelible mark on our society and nation.
I always wondered what happened to her
She died. She''s gone.

@@marijasovljanski this probably helps explain RFK, Jr. That and he supposedly took a lot of drugs when he was younger. But yeah, Bobby Kennedy’s kids were never shown any boundaries while they were growing up. Completely the opposite of Jack’s kids, who were raised right, thanks to Jackie. That’s why Caroline and John Jr. were so normal. Jackie has been quoted as saying “if you fail at parenting, then nothing you do, no matter what, will ever make up for it.” She was right.
