Reverse supply chain activity typically peaks during the Decline stage of the product life cycle. This is when products are often retired, returned, refurbished, recycled, or disposed of. Companies may focus on recovering value from used products through activities like remanufacturing, recycling, or selling surplus inventory. . . I too thought it would be Introduction. The logic would be to work out the kinks of the new product however, this is wrong. Products in this stage are well developed but we need to remember the idea of planned obsolescence. These products typically are old and will require updates or fixes thus engaging the reverse supply chain.

Question 5: Reverse Supply Chain is the planning and controlling of processes of moving goods from the point of consumption back to the point of origin for repair, reclamation, recycling or disposal. Reverse Supply Chain is a reflection of a Forward Supply Chain. However, with Reverse Supply Chains, many of them won't travel upstream within the same nodes, echelons, etc. Strategy of reverse supply chain is to mimic the complete forward supply chain.

Question 8: I understand Postponement (Delayed Differentiation) is a product design/ supply chain strategy that delays final differentiation (assembly, packaging, etc) to the latest possible time. In regard to postponement, what are the differences postponement and make-to-order?
Let me explain you with the help of an example. Postponement is a subway sandwich. Ingredients are there but assembling starts when order is received. Delayed differentiation. Make to Order is like visiting a tailor for a shirt. Once you will place an order, he will procure the material like cloth, buttons etc. Stitches it and then hand it over to you after few days. In short, in make to order manufacturing process begins after receiving the order whereas in postponement assembling starts after receipt of an order. Hope you understood the concept.
As someone just beginning to learn this can you explain question 6? From what I understand Reverse supply lines are customers returning things to the manufacturer, If it's in decline why wouldn't it continue peaking instead of only at the beginning? I thought the answer was maturity because maybe they improved the product so now the customers aren't returning it as often?
Consider an example of an Apple Iphone 4. When new model was introduced, people started returning the old one. So, initially or in the beginning people returned or exchanged more units as compared to today. Hope this clarifies the confusion.

Tips for exams: Based on my exams questions, they are using Pareto Principle ( 80% tricky (not difficult but very very tricky) and 20% easy to answer (straightforward)). I had 1 math calculation and 3 questions based on maths assumptions). All tricky questions are like the way our friend has prepared these all 25 sessions… Please check his Tips to crack CSCP video.
