I'm curious to see a range test between the MX4, the MX5 and the pro SS. My 30 mile loops on the pro SS leave me with between 35 and 45% depending on the outdoor temp and my riding mood that day. That's with a pretty solid mix of ~15 miles asphalt, ~15 miles dirt and gravel, being a 185 pound rider . A 50 AH battery that was LifePO4, on a 160lbs bike would have been a pretty slick move. Idk why any of these companies don't offer LifePO4 batteries. Especially after those people got burned in the elevator with an e-bike battery. And now the guy who had to pull his new bike over because of a lithium fire between his legs. I get that it's the business model to slowly release the "next best thing" that's slightly better in order to drive profit margins. But the battery tech is there, safety-wise, with LifePO4 that they could at least offer it as an upgrade option. Also, your bro prolly ain't giving an honest weight. His answer sounded like a question; "210?" Lol
I think they don't use LifeP04 batteries because of the weight. They are significantly heavier than lithium ion. When I'm on my E-Ride and my friend is on his MX4, his battery drains noticeably faster than than mine. I would bet its a 5-10 mile difference if we did a full range test.
I just have to add about the Talaria MX4s with SCUD Batterys. It might have been my comment you saw. It was not ordered from aliexpress or anything similar. It was bought really expensive, road-legal from one of the biggest physical motorcycle-stores in Sweden. And from what ive heard the SCUD batteries are common in MX4s especially in northern europe. They are probably not more dangerous than any other battery. Just some exceptionally rare catastrophic failure for some reason i would belive.
yeah this scud is getting all the hate lol im sure they built it right. It just went into Thermal runaway, I still think it was a bad samsung cell. samsung is good at that.

“HOBO” My father found it important enough to explain to me the difference between a hobo and a bum when I was about 10 years old. You see, when I was growing up, we went to Nashville, Tennessee a lot, where my dad would often be playing music and we would encounter bums and hobos and everything on the streets at night in downtown Nashville. There was always this one homeless fellow that my dad would tip 20 or $30 too, and in return, the guy would make me a balloon animal of my choice. On one of those occasions, as we were walking away from the Man, my dad told me to remember, that there’s a big difference between a hobo and a mom. He said that a bum will beg for money, but like the man who made me the balloon animal which I was holding, a hobo will at least work for their money, by providing something of value.
@@shootthechit well those seem like respectable enough folks I guess! I’ve often said, that a poor person is ignorant to remain in a part of the country which they dislike, when they could just as well be poor anywhere they choose! Does the MX5 coast downhill with no "regenerative" brake resistance? I'm curious about whether the thumb control, when fully open, has zero "regenerative" braking. It doesn't seem like there's any way to fully disable it on the e-ride. The switch positions seem to do nothing. I like having it on through turns and downhills off-road, but it would be nice to have it off entirely during long downhill stretches on paved road. Feels weird having to throttle going downhill.
You can also adjust the settings for the always on regenerative braking between levels 1-4. I don't think there is an "off" setting, but 1 to me feels like its off. I leave it on 1 all the time, as I don't like the always on setting. I think the E-Ride just has a lot of resistance with the chain and all that, so there is always a drag on it.
@@shootthechit I think there's something else going on. I can coast downhill on a scary 280-300lbs CARBON EMISSION bike and not feel that weird resistance. We tested coasting downhill on all three modes on the e-ride and didn't measure any difference in speed. So that makes me wonder if that resistance is there no matter what. Is the throttle always fighting it, even uphill? These are the questions that chit heads have. Is "regenerative" braking truly off on the MX5 as well? The world may never know.
