This mod took less than 2 minutes and I discovered an additional benefit. The additional leverage has allowed me to move the main adapter back which means the Canon 7D mk 2 battery compartment is now well clear of the star adventurer. The battery will last approx 2 hours and on several occasions I could not change over the battery due to the proximity of the camera battery door to the SA battery cover. The fun and games to move the RA or Dec change the battery and try to realign was frustrating to say the least. So this simple modification has pleased me no end...LOL
Thanks for the inspiration .... had a Clamp with 2 handles lying around that I originally was gona put on top of the Dec Bracket , but found it too heavy and beefy .... forgot about it til I saw this video ..... The Clamp has various opening so I was just able to screw it directly to bottom of the counterweight shaft. ... sending positive vibes from the Bronx NyC
Excellent!!..thanks for this. I probably just need the extra weight from the dslr ball head adapter. I have been using a series of relatively heavy duty O rings that slip onto the shaft perfectly and held in place by the 1Kg weight securely but its still a tad too light for the camera , 600mm lens, guidscope etc...this is a Eureka moment...LOL
One can always put that back in, it's just making use of things you own already. You won't be using both the L bracket and the adapter at the same time on the adventurer
@@umangjeet says who? I do wide-field astro-photography of the Milky Way and use the Declination Bracket for galaxies on the same night of shooting. I am not going to re-assemble the adapter at night on location. Not everyone shoots like you might shoot.
@@AstroPilotchannel Better would an 72ED? I want only widefield and big nebula's like Orion and Andromeda with a 60D.I Even have space for a small finderscope with Guidercam?
@@Oxizee I have Star Adventurer 2i Pro and 72ED telescope and using Canon 2000D DSLR for shooting. I have tried several times so far to make a good balance of a system and it just dont work. Whole thing is unbalanced. When i use only camera with a lens it work well. This star tracker is not good for telescopes only camera and small lenses.
Sweet! Nice work man! 👍

Thank you! I'll try this when my new tracker arrives.
Awesome!!! Glad I could help! Clear skies😁
Thanks! This is really cool!
Im sure there is a less expensive way of doing the same thing without sacrificing a $15.00 ballhead adapter.

This actually didn’t cost me a thing, I already had the ball head for a long time and I made use of what I had

Yes there is - just spend a little and get the extra weight for $30 (or cheaper if you can wait from Ali Express).
Good idea will try this if it works for my requirements
Can it carry an 80ED with DSLR?
80mm scope would be pushing it but it might be possible

@@Oxizee yes a 72 would work, I’ve seen several people have good luck with hat setup
