94E here, been in the Army for about 8 months now, do you think I could put in a packet to become a aviation warrant officer right now? I really want to become a pilot.
From a crusty old retired (OEM) WO from back-in-day: I think it's fantastic that the Army calln now just "make" a Warrant Officer in a matter of weeks. I see that the "schoolhouse solution" is still alive and well. Just heard that the Army is short 24,000 people due to re ruiting shortfalls. The Army's answer to the problem is to just do away with 24,000 positions and there are no more shortages! God help us!
mooppy himura, enlisted Soldiers can become Warrant Officers. In fact, most Warrant Officer Specialties require candidates to have several years of enlisted experience in a feeder MOS before submitting a packet. For instance, as a 13B, you could submit a packet to become a 131A, Field Artillery Targeting Technician, when you reach the rank of SSG. (CEH)
USArmyRecruiting Is this program available for inter-service transfer? I'm currently a 5J in the Air Force Reserve (Army 27D) and would like to apply. Would I still have to start off as a 27D in the Army?
mooppy mcd Sorry for the late reply. Don't get me wrong, love the AF. However, very limited promotion opportunities. The job I'm doing as an E-7 at my reserve unit is done Warrant Officers in the Army. Bottom line, I'd like to be paid what I'm worth and retire with a little more in the retirement check.
Got my flight physical coming up, after that the board. Keeping my fingers crossed.
SmokinChallenger I did. Putting a WOFT packet in is the best decision I've ever made.
Awesome man! If you need any help or anything feel free to send me a message.
