I'm traveling over 200 hundred miles next week just to pick up a large narrow standing stone for my Wabi sabi Garden that i'm almost halfway completed with. I'm into my second year now building a 50 foot wide by 65 foot long Courtyard with two small ponds and a wonderful waterfall. Stones are very difficult to find here with good character and textures.
As impressive as Mr. Kumagi's artistry is, it is more impressive that he considers and respect the surrounding elements like the trees. He is not only conserving traditional Japanese gardening techniques he is conserving nature. Thank you for sharing this with us.
sagoi ne.. Filming in the rain was beautifully captured... Wonderful how you sat an talked with the master... the explanations of stones and how they are placed was very informative... and how you worked alongside the workers.... great job... always enjoy your filming and dedication to the Japanese garden.
Enjoying the beauty in Malaysia and filming a master working his craft. It is going to be magnificent when finished. Those boulders are huge and beautiful also.
It’s amazing how the careful placement of the stones transform the space. It begins as something very man-made and artificial and then transforms into a beautiful space you can imagine stumbling upon in the wild. The same stones piled in a haphazard heap would just not convey the same grounded feeling.
Beautiful and inspiring. I love hearing about how important it was to maintain the original beauty of the landscape you were hired to work on. Beautiful boulder work, as always!!! ❤
Almost don't have words to express how much I'm feeling and learning with this incredible video. To hear mr Kumagai's wisdom and sensitivity is a real landscaping masterclass. Also my thanks to mr. Taniyama and his beautiful work as a niwashi, to mr Miyake's stone work and of course for you Matsunaga, your videos are getting better and better. I really enjoy and learn more and more with them.
Your videos get better and better! This project is amazing. I would love to have a conversation between Mr kumagi and some of our master builders here about construction techniques!
Hello! Hope all of you have the bless to continue with more projects, since it's a way to reach dreams between humanity and wildlife. Hope in someday knowing the team. greats from México. かんばて
I'm excited to see what the waterfall will look like once the water is flowing. Does Mr. Kumagi take this aspect into consideration when placing the stones? Thank you for sharing!!
