This takes me back to my most spiritual experience. I am neither religious or norse, but when a friend of mine prayed to the four winds and i whispered my oath to the allfather i know he jeard it and will hold me to it.
One of the "problems" we have today re: Norse history is that the Vikings relied so deeply on speech and not just magickally.....even in everyday conversations..( Where do you think the word "Spelling" came from?). Little was "written" until many years later when the authors were Roman and/or Christian. Odin was VERY cognisant of the power of words.....so watch what you say and/or agree too. This is not negative, only a caution so few follow these days....

i'm from austria and as far as i know dont have any norse ancestors. but everytime i hear music like this it feels like somethin awakens inside me, its an astonishing feeling.
It may be a "Soul Aspect" you're connecting with - these do not necessarily connect with Genetics of family ancestry.... If you meditate, try being open (yet protective) to the 'whom' of yourself "feels" that connection:)

I love to hear powerful female vocals calling out to the moon like a wild beast with a beat preparing you for battle. I have Norwegian Viking ancestry and looked similar to the woman when I was in my 20s and even have a pagan horned headdress! 😆

I wonder how this was decided to be nordic chanting? I'm a swede and my sister has a master in archeology and we talk a lot about the nordic history, and this music - which is lovely, btw - sounds more like Native American-inspired sounds than anything nordic. Folk music in Scandinavia today and the latest couple of centuries is much fiddle, a special kind of hard singing with emphasis on the consonants and special instruments such as the nyckelharpa and the mungiga. It sounds nothing like this. I'd say the Sami jojks are more historical accurate nordic music than this music. It's nice, but I wonder who decided it was nordic?
As a fellow Scandinavian, I agree. There are a lot of elements from traditional folk music that are similar to each other, in terms of metric modes and instruments, that can be found across nations and cultures. But when it comes to vocal elements, there's very little to go with for those who delve in historical musicology; after all, these were traditional techniques and style that had to be orally passed down from generation to generation. So it sort of has to be deduced from the context from which the music was being performed, e.g., its relation to instruments, dance, lyric, and acoustic environment. A few examples of Ancient Germanic music are the Swedish külning, Norwegian lokk and the playing of midwinterhoorn (Lur) in the Low Saxon region of Twente in the Netherlands. In these traditions you can hear the toneladder hearing that its mainly based on what they call "natural tones". Other Instruments were mouth harp, tagelharpa, handdrums, wood/bone/antler flutes. It didn't sound like any of this. Nor does the picture have anything to do with any Germanic tribe.

I just found out that the tree in my yard is an ash…. Spirit of the Sacred Yggsdrasil. It is an elder tree and I am going to see if I can get some of its seeds to sprout and turn into saplings. I have a few places I would like to plant them. I feel fortunate to have the power and protection of this sacred spirit at my home.
