Thanks everyone for pointing out Zack’s hilarious editing fuckup with the same-colored Honda Accord at 8 minutes. Everyone gets to give him shit today, and me shit for not checking, but goddamn that’s funny.
My father has a 2006 ES330 with 250,xxx miles on it. I just drove it for the first time in years and it’s still incredibly smooth and quiet. It’s such a great car. I drove it when it was new back when I was in high school/college and put it through absolute hell. So to know it went the distance of the moon without an issue and still feels new is a testament to Lexus.
I mean, I would buy this car. At $45,000 the ES is a bargain. It also looks sharp for the first time since the 3rd gen. This is a solid car for someone like me (late 20’s to early 30’s, offspring(s), wife who owns one of those stupid lifted hatch things, and no desire to own a overpriced BMW or Mercedes.)
@@dirtysp00ns another buddy of mine has a 99 GS300. Beautifully smooth, and really nice interior. And because it's basically a Toyota underneath, parts are dirt cheap.

I must say that this car is just brilliant. The exterior color, interior seats color, build quality is no doubt unbeatable. Quiet and sofisticated ride, with style.
Most profound quote about cars: That I have really been thinking about since acquiring a Lexus. “Luxury is about effortlessness” driving a Lexus is unlike any other car I have driven. So fluid and so effortless. The miles just go by.
What I love about Matt is that he understands the true purpose of specific cars. In this case, he knows this isn't trying to smoke an S4 or 440i. He knows this isn't trying to better a Stinger GT. The disconnect is with Lexus. They try to put their cars in categories where they don't truly compete. For example, the RC-F was touted as an alternative to the C63 or M4, where the Germans slaughter the RC-F in almost every category. The GS-F was routed as an alternative to the E63 and M5 and it's not even close. The only advantage the GS-F has is price. The LC500 is put as a "high performance" category on Lexus' website (at least it was, not sure if still is), where "high performance" defines cars like the AMG-GT and other more exotic cars. the LC500 is a great-driving GT. If Lexus aligned its marketing with the true mission of its cars, maybe their sales results would be much different and they would be dominating again. Regarding this ES F-Sport, I feel it's essentially the luxury version of the Honda Accord. Odd saying that considering the Camry is Toyota. The Accord may not be as quiet (as intended), but from the driving characteristics Matt described here, it seems more in line with the Accord than the Camry.
Looking at RCF vs M4 comparison from MotorTrend. Laptime difference is less than 2 seconds. BTW GSF was known for best chassis in it's class even compared with M5 and E63. CTSV also has great chassis. Have you driven these cars before you talk about them?
poy Mu Firstly, I've never seen anywhere that the GSF has the best chassis against the M5 or E63. Secondly, if it does have "the best chassis", that's easy to say when you don't have to support power and performance that matches the M5 or E63. And, as a matter of fact, the CTS-V has consistently been voted as best chassis in this class, so keep up with your BS.
Just drove a 2022 ES Fsport last year when I was trying to look for an IS350 Fsport. There were no IS350 available and this car was so fuxking good that I felt confident in putting a deposit down on a factory ordered is350 that I waited 3 months for. I love my RWD is350, but these ES’s are so much more than a grandma cruiser.
@@ZuesToDrinkJuice1 With the IS you can certainly feel the more sport focused chassis design and lighter overall weight. Very similar handling dynamics between both, as in, they both feel properly analog and retain drive feel. This is their bread and butter car. They know exactly what they are doing. They will NEVER change what the ES is. They've used this formula for 30 years. There is the IS if you want RWD.
The ES wasn't ever a replacement to the GS. They are completely different cars. If the E-Class suits your needs better, then get that. However, you will learn very abruptly the difference between owning a Lexus and an MB if you haven't done so before. Tread cautiously. If leasing, that doesn't matter. Well the issue here is the F-Sport was a huge hit. F-Sport models are very popular. For example the IS, almost all the ones you see are F-Sports. Bigger wheels and more aggressive bodywork is more appealing. So if it's a hot seller, it only makes sense to offer this package on the ES as well. I don't think they are trying to steal GS sales for the ES. I doubt anyone is cross shopping the two. They are so different, aimed at different types of buyers. Now, if the GS is dying, it's due to CUV sales. It's not the ES doing it. The GS is an awesome car but it's always been a lower volume seller compared to the ES/IS.
