Y'alls head bobs. 🤣 it perfectly encompasses how we all feel it that beat. The song was meant to be comical- a play on a stereotypic bluegrass ya know, hicks. Hah thanks for the laughs.
I honestly haven't heard one bad song from this band yet. Black Lung, Diamond, and their rendition of You Are My Sunshine are some of my favorites. Yall straight up had the same reaction to this song that I did the first time hearing it though lol.
That banjo guy is Colton "Crawdaddy" Crawford and he inspired me to buy a banjo🪕 The band is THE BEST live. And if you ever met the guys, consider yourself lucky because they are THE BEST.
FYI, there is a group called Gangstagrass that mixes hip hop/rap with bluegrass and is fantastic. If you are familiar with the show Justified, they did the opening theme, "Long Hard Times to Come"
This is reality in several “cultures” in Saskatchewan and elsewhere, please don’t laugh at the point they are trying to make through music… it is absolutely about the reality of what many people have experienced and is still going on!!!
This is supposed to be about the difficulty some country music purists have with accepting other sounds in the genre. I was lucky enough to see them a couple of years ago and they give an awesome show! That's Colton Crawford on the banjo, btw.
The Dead South Brought me here. The reaction made me subscribe & like. These guys are great. I loved the vibe they created and the comments.PS I would love to see the Recap reaction.
The girl who needs some "sweet loving" may just be his sister. "momma said "she's my brother's daughter", and I don't even know who's my father". They keep warning him away from her but he ignores it. I think it's implying that her dad is his dad too, making them half siblings, therefore the need for restraining orders etc. He just assumes its because she's his cousin, "I guess she's my cousin" but it's much worse than that.....XD
It’s a cousin. It goes like this. Mothers says it’s my brothers daughter, so the mothers brother had a daughter making them kissing cousins. The father stuff just alludes to him coming from a broken family full of confusion.
@@waynethera2712 That's your interpretation, which is ok, but my interpretation is the whole vehemency including restraining orders and such is down to them being siblings, which makes it even more "banjo odyssey" to me.
Hey boys heres the lyrics Tore up the restraining order I don't care I'm comin' over What your daddy said isn't goin' over to well Don't you know not to kiss and tell Mama said, she's my brothers daughter And I don't even know who's my father I guess she's my cousin But she needs some sweet lovin' anyway Pulled you out by your hair If people ask I was never there Come on baby and take a ride with me Come on baby let's drive to the sea Mama said, she's my brothers daughter And I don't even know who's my father I guess she's my cousin But she needs some sweet lovin' anyway It's a hot night drivin' down highway sixty With my baby in the passenger seat I roll down my window and I Lean my head back and put my foot to the floor We're going faster And she's saying slow down (Slow down) We're going faster And she's saying slow down (Slow down) We're going faster And she's saying slow down (Slow down) We're going faster And she's saying slow down (Slow down) And I say no And she's saying slow down And I say no And she's saying slow down And I say no And she's saying slow down And I say no And shes screaming slow down And I say no Mama said, she's my brothers daughter And I don't even care who's my father I guess she's my cousin But she needs some sweet lovin' anyway
I've seen The Dead South fall under the genre of Southern Gothic, and I'd buy that. This one definitely is a super satirical one, so not quite as gothic but that's their general vibe

Lol me too

Well said. I've never met Colton but the other 3 guys and Eliza, who subbed in for Colton for a while, are all awesome people.
@@shaundewolfe5955 I saw them with Eliza, too. That was my first show. The second one I went to, Colton was back.
Eliza, though, is such a sweetheart.
It's gangstagrass....
Haven’t heard that one yet lol……Rob 🔒

You know what they say: If she ain’t good enough for her own family, she ain’t good enough for mine.
The song is a satire to how people perceive southern bluegrass hicks having incestual relationships. The cousins are running away with each other.

Bluegrass with a punk rock mentality

Great reaction guy's, catching those lyrics the first time is priceless!!
Hey boys heres the lyrics
Tore up the restraining order
I don't care I'm comin' over
What your daddy said isn't goin' over to well
Don't you know not to kiss and tell
Mama said, she's my brothers daughter
And I don't even know who's my father
I guess she's my cousin
But she needs some sweet lovin' anyway
Pulled you out by your hair
If people ask I was never there
Come on baby and take a ride with me
Come on baby let's drive to the sea
Mama said, she's my brothers daughter
And I don't even know who's my father
I guess she's my cousin
But she needs some sweet lovin' anyway
It's a hot night drivin' down highway sixty
With my baby in the passenger seat
I roll down my window and I
Lean my head back and put my foot to the floor
We're going faster
And she's saying slow down
(Slow down)
We're going faster
And she's saying slow down
(Slow down)
We're going faster
And she's saying slow down
(Slow down)
We're going faster
And she's saying slow down
(Slow down)
And I say no
And she's saying slow down
And I say no
And she's saying slow down
And I say no
And she's saying slow down
And I say no
And shes screaming slow down
And I say no
Mama said, she's my brothers daughter
And I don't even care who's my father
I guess she's my cousin
But she needs some sweet lovin' anyway

The bass player is an astronautical engineer I think.
Yall are great. Wonderful energy. I sub now. Cheers!
Welcome aboard!
Welcome to Canada fellas.

In Canada you don't ssk or tell
Giuliani took this song to heart.
Song about a man how become obsessed with his cousin like Jerry Lee Louis but this guy kills himself and her instead of ending his obsession
His mother is his cousin.
This song is 'unapologetic'.
Ask their momma.
It's blue grass country
🙌🏾
Think of it as anti country. Lol
Check out in hell i will be in good company also from the dead south ❤❤
