On one hand military powers will try to get a hold on this devise and use it to gain more power and create different weapons. This devise would be used by the government and scientists to do many things before a alternative computer which is less powerful, is released to the public. This will be the next step to technology as we eventually start making quantum phones and other technologies. Or this devise will be fought over by many superpowers causing many wars over the new technology, this is least likely but it’s a thought.

Read "Showstopper" by Pascal Zachary, the story about NT Windows. You will gain both a firm grounding on the history of Windows and new respect for it's design and makers, chiefly Dave Cutler and Perazzolli. They have done something of a scale that was never done before. Windows is truly an achievement.

It couldn't run tetris, it's not designed to do that, like the computer used on the Saturn five rocket, integrated circuits were not in standard use at the time so individual transistors would line the control module to manage the craft. quantum computers are very much like calculators just, really fast, and if your calculator can run crysis, it's not a numerator, it's a completely different kind of computer. that is the biggest reason why I hate that comparison because it's like comparing apples to the empire state building.

"2 Billion computers" That's actually a HIGHLY conservative estimate of JUST the number of x86/x86_64 based computers in regular operation. The actual number of operational x86 systems in existence is well over 3 Billion (Including servers).
If you expand that definition a bit more to include all Operational user programable general purpose computers, including Raspberry Pis, Smartphones, and other ARM processor based GPCs, as well as the PS3 and PS2 (because Other OS and PS2 Linux kernel respectively), Motorola's 68000 series CPUs, z80s and clones, PDAs, and many MANY more, that number easily skyrockets well past 10 BILLION Computers in existence.

There is at least some chance that we'll never get quantum computers, as the isolation of the szperposition from the environment gets more and more difficult with an increasing number of quibits. Currently we are at roughly 72 quits, if you get into the 4-digit size, things start to get interesting. We'll see if we can solve this technical challenge or not. Nonetheless, even if we can get this done, we also need to design and build all the quantum gates required (and there are some more challenges). In the end this means: we'll never have one in a decade, 25 years is a far more reasonable estimation. Assuming that ITER goes live in 2026 and everything works out as planned, it's not unlikely that we may have commercial fusion plants prior to having commercial quantum computers.
On the other hand, if you were born in 75, chances are not that bad, that you'll experience both technologies well in your life time.

@@lrrrruleroftheplanetomicro6881 Yeah, I'm aware of that, but ITER is PoC that's its commercially feasible. If that has been demonstrated, I hope on private companies jumping in on the opportunity to grab a piece of the cake, before others do and the window of opportunity closes. This could massively speed up things. Currently investing is highly risky, but once a proof has show that it is not just theoretically, but technically and commercially feasible, I hope this attracts large sums of investors money to speed things up. I mean 20 billion sounds like a lot of money, but eg Apple could pay that more than 10 times from the money that they have lying around, without having to borrow a single dime.

Please kid, don't talk nonsense if you don't know what you are talking about. The first thing is that we do have 72-quibit quantum computers in the lab. The 2nd thing is, that (and for once the video was right), that quantum computers are NOT these ultrafast supercomputers that most imbeciles imagine they are. They are actually incredibly slow and error prone in comparison to classical computers. The only reason we are interested in them (net to curiosity) is that they are capable of solving SOME problems, that are practically unsolvable with classical computers (you might wanna have a look at quantum complexity theory). Be it factorization of primes, solving the discrete logarithm problem (both using Shor's algorithm), squaring the time a lookup in hash tables takes using Grover's algorithm or identifying the thermodynamically most stable tertiary structure from an amino acid sequence.
Alone the idea to quantize the capability of a quantum compute in flops is dumb as hell, as that's exactly NOT what they are doing. Try understanding the concept behind it, before making a fool of yourself in public.

The AGI would probably be able to figure out all kinds of applications and innovations for its quantum computer. I believe that mixing different modules is the key to creating superintelligence.

You know that's a really, really bad idea right? Any logical intelligence can see that human beings are bad for the environment in which they live (ie. the Earth & all it's ecosystems), and that removal of that threat would be both practical and necessary.
In retrospect that might be a good idea for the planet, but unfortunately I would like my descendants to survive (I'm selfish like that).

@@AnthonyIlstonJones i'm taking both your points, and i'm suggesting one thing:
keep the brain, only a brain.
don't give it hands and feet and other tentacles that can do damage. make your supercomputer research a lot of things (and by research, i mean spoonfeed it with everything, every bit of info that will allow it to finish all its tasks, don't allow it to reach out to the deep and dark web just to find its thing), but keep it a prisoner in your closed independent system, don't give it (wired or wireless) access to the internet (it can replicate itself there, where its clone can potentially-do a lot of damage everywhere), don't allow it (wired or wireless) remote access to robotic limbs and robots, and remote access to your properties' electronic systems (moving and locking mechanisms for any house door including the garage door, remote calibration of appliance settings, your shower's temp settings, your phone's access, etc.)
in the event we do need ai's in robots (especially humanoid robots), we need to keep their processing units too stupid from hatching any schemes against us, but intelligent enough to sufficiently-accomplish the tasks we instruct them (and absolutely prohibit/estop wireless communications and upgrades!). with humanoid robots, they can no longer be considered brains, they are just the implementing hands, we don't need them superintelligent, nor coordination and constant updates from the mother quantum computer (like what computer companies are doing to our apps). you don't want your disposable metal army to rebel against their boss.
i'm very interested in ai's, i need an army of slaves in my foreseen businesses and to commit suicide for me to stop intruders and assassins (who knows, i might be famous someday!). and i'm interested in supercomputers, they can research how to make a time manipulation device. a single tmd alone can propel my progress exponentially, versus the rate of the rest of the world. you can manipulate the speed of a small enclosed farm to give you a six months' worth of ripe harvest (both plants and animals) in just maybe a week, provided all that's necessary are there (livestock feeds, water supply worth that time, fertilizers, uv lamps with lumens simulating the sun at proper times, etc.). you can churn out one game-changing invention every week with this thing (because your ai spent years in hypertime perfecting it). maybe even create an ns-5 encased in the cloned flesh of a nubile redhead, a non-militarized terminator for everyday civilian applications, like office and household and construction work. all happening within your lifetime.

Keep the genie in the bottle, trust me - we don't want that thing out amongst us or we're finished (I know we're doing a reasonably good job of trying to extinct ourselves without the aid of an AI, but we really don't need to be assisted in this).

In reality, the reason "nothing happened" on 1999-2000 New Year was because countries around the world had thousands upon thousands of people working day and night to fix networks and systems specifically to prevent such problems from occurring.
As humans we have a habit of this kind of inaccurate retroactive consideration. We greatly underestimating problems that we've already dealt with. We put a TON of work and money into making sure "the bad thing" doesn't happen, then we joke about all the hard work and spending we did "even though nothing happened," when it was, in fact, that hard work and spending that made sure nothing went wrong.
It's like finding a gas leak in your home, paying to get it fixed, and then being upset that you spent all that money because "the house didn't even blow up or anything."

What would you give to help the one you love, and what would you do to the one you’m {do so hate} has often led to every WAR of MURDER known to mankind be we male and female as we are Ripped from our Mothers Wombs only to Grow up and do Abortions “to one another” with Guns, and Bombs, and Knives… This is the [fate] Q’ of them whom hate, and those whom love, and yet, what do you Really Love???, and What do you Really Hate` for it is this perplexing Question that is in the minds of the many…
I Christ Jesus did not come back to Judge You, Condemn You, or even Save You, I came back to put a REFLECTION “in the mirror” that you can see, and when all is lost, then there is No One Here for me to find… My Words may Profit me Nothing, and though I am not a Prophet, I am the LAST Oracle for this TIME LINE; theretofore, You The People [must decide] Q+ what will become of you for Purgatory can still be anything we want, and wish, and desire, but if all we do is allow OTHERS to think for me and you, then These EVIL Spirits of Incubus and Succubus will always Rule, and you “my friend” shall never, and wilt never find “your” way home whence you die…
