These devices are definitely expensive. I bought 2 so far, first one lasted me 5 yrs and replaced it with macbook air m2 last Oct. I just need it for work since I can’t trust the regular laptops to last me years plus macbook is proven for multitasking and faster OS. Buy one if this is really needed but if you are not a big laptop user or not using it for anything else, you can buy cheaper devices.

@Deadd_flickerWhat? Inform yourself mate. They don’t want the RAM from your computer or the storage. They buy specially manufactured Ram and storage. The demand shortage is coming from the Ram Companies (there are only 3 or 4) producing way more AI RAM instead of rugelar RAM and that’s why it’s more expensive. They are not buying storage they can’t use.
The Neo was DEFINITELY designed to make middle and high schools ditch Chromebooks for the shiny, colorful, iPad-Kid-Attracting MacBook.

If that’s true I’m glad, the chromebooks at my high school got slower the past two years and definitely aren’t lasting long, I don’t toss things around like other people do in my school and somehow my Chromebook’s last row of keys just only has two that work unless I press really hard on the letter, they suck so bad now lol

Not a fan of this design esthetic. I built a web app using Liquid Glass design and readability is awful. Nice to look at but not good if you have text to read. One headline is ok but you write a paragraph and th design is not meant for reading any text.

Slightly disagree, the $599 M4 Mac Mini was and still is a great budget computer if you are willing to buy a monitor and peripherals

Greed, they are trying to introduce/retain the lower/middle class customers gap that is getting increasingly large, and hook them into the apple ecosystem.
My guess is there trying to steal market share , the price of regular windows computers has gone insane, so now apple can come in sell a device dirt cheap in comparison and convert Windows users into Apple users . Also as a note the reason they have made these custom colours is so people don't get confused buy thinking it's one of their higher end laptops

I think that Apple has never done a 3 day release like this ever, but I'm really impressed by what they've done, especially for the Neo and for the new MacBook Pro.
They did a 3 day release in 2019!

@DaleNguyenLuna think about it this way they still will be using A18 chips in a few products the next few years but the last time they used M1 was 2022 it makes more sense to use a currently in production chip than to restart the production of chip they haven’t used since 2022.
Also A18 pro is better single core performance, gpu performance, and npu performance, and about the same multi core performance with 2 less cores than M1.

I'm a realtor and just bought this to do everyday task, emails, use my CRM, etc. It can handle capcut or edits for short reels too which is great. People complaining obviously don't need this laptop so keep it pushing not everyone needs an M2 or super powerful laptop for day to day task.

depends on who you are. My current macbook has french keyboard, and my desktop has an american one, but I use norwegian layout so no special buttons match anyways. If you've learnt to type without looking then it's not gonna matter

I like this. The Apple brick is big and heavy and useless. A $35 aftermarket GAN charger is half the size and weight, and will charge multiple devices at once. I have 3 Apple bricks and have never used one of them even once.

I’m a full-time video editor still rocking my M3 Max MacBook Pro, and despite the M5 Max’s performance uplift (the M4 Max was underwhelming), I’ll probably wait until an M-Series chip uses TSMC’s new 2nm process to upgrade.
im a professional editor and im super happy with my M1 Max Macbook Pro, I bought it when i released and man its been great except for a few hiccups, i think i'll be good to use this until like M7 or M8 releases also considering a full spec M8 max will be crazy expensive lol

In France the Neo is sold at 699 (actually, you can already get it for 599€ and it will probably stay that way everywhere except from the official store) and it makes no sense when you check the market. You can easily find for the last 3 months the M2 16/256 for less than 699€ brand new. I don't see a world where you choose this Neo product against a M2 with better specs everywhere. At the end of the year Neo will be sold for less than 500 for sure.

It is not worth it to purchase a Product with no Power Adapter if the Adapter itself is more than 75 to 80 ish Watts or Higher as they are more worth the Money and are a Steal if you can get them with the Product, But you will need to suffer from Apple Tax if you're from EU because of decisions EU government makes.

Probably. You will only notice the performance issues if you need to use demanding software, like video editing software or cad software. If you are just using it to take notes or edit spreadsheets, it will be fine I think

Fair, but you're most likely in a minority with that take. Many people have dimly lit rooms for better focus or do work/study in cafes, backs of cars during long commute etc and for them this can a dealbreaker. Such a weird cut for a productivity related product

The MacBook Neo is the genuinely the first apple product in the last 10 years to have a starting price that does not skyrocket 1000$ after adding 128 gigs of storage. This product is great for students that don't need all the processing power on the other models + you get 100$ with the apple student discount.
If Apple can shove macOS into a computer with an iPhone chip, there is literally nothing performance-wise stopping them from giving macOS to iPads

As someone who sells Apple products, the ones who buy the iPhone 16e (now 17e) are 9/10 times older people who just want a cheap phone. They are almost always upgrading from an iPhone SE and absolutely don’t care about 120Hz or Dynamic Island, which keeps the iPhone 16e (now 17e) at a reasonable price.
