not a bad review, but i can see that your didnt change your overall workflow since philips lent you the monitor for a certain time what should be also mentioned are the panel protection things you have to adapt to not burn the panel in a short time span things like for example dark modes everywhere, black wallpaper, hiding taskbar, avoiding static content when possible, etc If anyone is considering this or any other oled, this is something they need to seriously take into consideration if you dont want to change your monitor every year or so i am thinking of sorta going backwards to mini led VA panel after this monitor because all the protection stuff is kinda getting to me and also the anxiety from burning in the panel
I'm still rocking it out on the monitor, perfect besides for the auto brightness dimming mainly while gaming, I even get zero freesync/vrr flicker which is great. But the auto brightness dimming for 1-3mins every 20-45mins is annoying during gaming sessions. They need to add a firmware update that fixes the "ABL". Anyone else get annoying ABL on their 49m2c8900? I've had 2 of these, each with brightness dimming that's aggressive af.
@@jameswatt1892 this monitor auto dims every few minutes when you are in a bright scene it is noticable but personally i am totally ok with it, especially with this saving your panel's lifespan
@@jameswatt1892 Don't buy this sh-t!!! Currently, I am sending back my monitor to the Philips. They don't want to fix this issue in the firmware and it was a nightmare to convince them about my truth to take back their shitty product. The issue, as Travis wrote in his comment, only occurs in gaming when you are in SDR mode. In HDR mode, the monitor works perfectly fine because the HDR-standard manages the brightness and not firmware of the monitor. You can use HDR in every games. It's not problem if the game does not support it.
Turn on the HDR mode in windows before you start the game, and it will resolve your issue. ;) Temporary solution until they fix the problem in the firmware, if they can....

Turn off hdr then. It should be quite fine in sdr. Most games doesn't implement hdr any good anyway
I'm thinking of buying this monitor, can you explain a bit more what this is and how bad it is?
