My husband and I are going thru a really bad time right now, so, when I get upset, I watch Marc and Wendy....and every single time , I laugh til tears come down my face....at least TEN times aday!!! No lie! Thank you and god bless you!!!!

He didn't. He uses a pedal at the base of the podium the dog sits on. It operates a false mouth. It's explained on Wikipedia.

Was it fake? Yes and No.
He is a ventriligist...but Wendy is a smart dog and has been train to respond by opening her mouth at certain cues...thats pretty smart and the act was put together flawlessly...so I think its unfair to call it fake.

If you watch the beginning, before he actually goes onto stage with his dog, when he is talking with someone, the dog's snout looks different than when on stage. The dog has a fake snout put over it's own that the owner makes the fake mouth move.
Yep. Not only does her actual snout have a darker stripe down the middle, but when she's not on stage watch how sh'es panting and licking. She doesn't once pant or lick on stage or even move her mouth at all except to flap open and shut when Marc is talking. And I do mean flap because If she were actually talking, she'd be making different shapes with her mouth for the different sounds, but it always opens and closes in a fairly rigid pattern.
Notice that Wendy has no mic? Obviously it is Marc's voice. Very, very clever ventriliquism act, though.
Yes, I remember when this first aired, and it wasn’t until someone pointed out that the dog wasn’t actually talking. I noticed that she has a fake snout for when she performs. Also, and maybe I’m being a little too harsh, but if you watch closely, you’ll notice she is shaking. I’m sure it must’ve been terrifying having to be on stage in front of thousands of people.

Obviously it’s fake. It’s ventriloquism. There is a fake mouth on the dog’s face, and a button on the back of the small platform the dog is on. You can see he always moves his foot behind it. No dog can actually pronounce actual words, if it’s a surprise to you that this is fake, get common sense. No dog can actually do that.

I've always wondered why the dog's teeth and tongue look so strange so fake I took a break at one point and you can see it the hair on the snout and around it are fake just like the teeth! just like the snout of the dog, a mechanical snout was laminated on it, which is moved mechanically! and he is ventriloquist what you can see 2:34 you see open mouth and see that the hair around is other than the dog have and that the teeth not real
