I can't live past his last phase where he does that move that does like 9999 damage to everyone lol Reprieve helps but I can't last long without running out of mp or not getting an atb bar fast enough to heal ripp

Be warned: Bahamut and Ifrit duo of that last challenge is harder than Sephiroth, so you’re gonna need great materia. When Tifa comes, throw a manawall on Cloud. Continue switching characters, building up ATB. Whenever Tifa has a full gauge, cast prayer. If you absolutely need to heal with Curaga, do so, and if someone dies, always cast Arise ASAP. When Aerith comes, you can cast Manawall on the whole party. If you want, throw in a haste with Tifa, but you don’t have to. I always use Triple slash because it’s best at tracking and not missing. That’s pretty much it. Keep your manawalls up, and if Sephiroth looks like he’s about to do the big attack that reduces 1-3 people to 1 HP (if they have reprieve) get healing as fast as possible. Good luck! Also: When trying to get Gotterdammerung, switch Cloud to have linked Elemental with Ice in his armor, or Shiva will be a very unpleasant fight- she’s much harder in the special chapter 17 challenge.

Yes I need to do the last Shinra simulator battle still, along with max out a few more HP and MP ups, but that's totally do-able, thanks!!! Perhaps the main place where I went wrong was ignoring barrier materia oof, but yeah Aerith's second limit break should help with that a lot. Also I must have gotten too complacent with weapons, because all of them have their last one such as Purple Pain and Twin Blades (I think that's the name lol) and etc. so trying different ones completely will help, I'm sure. Awesome of you to include what weapon upgrades you had and your strategy too! Yeah so far I've just been going through and making sure I have all the manuscripts before going back into chapter 18, cause I managed to miss 2 in wall market in my first hard mode play through along with 2 in chapter 17 due to the last two combat simulator fights (the mystery one with pride and joy and also the one with Aerith by herself lmao).
