Dutch Development Aid (DDA) and Dutch NGOs such as FairWater Foundation are doing even more. All over Africa you can find now the Dutch Durable FairWater BluePump, developed with Oxfam. From the harsh and dry environment of Turkana in Northern Kenia and South Sudan, to the friendly small country Swaziland in the South. Most BluePumps (400+) can be found in Mozambique, where the BluePump is specifically used in deep boreholes, because it is able to pump up to 100m deep. The innovative BluePump basically does not need spare-parts anymore and because it is very reliable and easy to maintain, over 500.000 people in Africa have now 24/7 water and a extreme low cost of 2-3 US$ per family per year. This durable handpump is becoming a game changer in Rural Africa and not only popular with Dutch funded projects, but most international NGOs start using BluePumps more and more.
