I love seeing plastic upcycled especially into something so beautiful! 50 years ago I used to make similar flowers with a plastic dip.
I need to know what plastic dip is! Is it what you use with a wire frame?
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark Exactly you make petal and leaf shapes with the wire and then dip the shape in the liquid plastic, let dry and then assemble it just like you did with yours.
I did too!!!! It came in different colors. You could make a bouquet out of them. You brought back good memories. I have such a silly grin on my face. Thank you both Mark and A nette.
@@margaritagerman So happy I could put a smile on your face and bring back a happy memory. I'm still smiling too!
Hi Mark! These are so beautiful. They remind me of hand-blown glass flowers. So pretty, and planet friendly.
You rock Laura! Thank you so much!
Greetings. Mark, as always this was a unique & fantastic art project. I didn't know you can make flowers out of plastic. It gives a new meaning to plastic, save & make these flowers.Thanks. Blessings to all.Amen!🙏❤🙏😊

So nice of you Bextermonkey! Have a great night!
Thanks so much! I made a batch of these for my kindergarten kids to attach to some plastic bottle fairy houses we made for a school event. They were so popular and made the projects something super special.

Another winner!! You’re truly talented and very inspirational 💁🏻♀️
Very kind of you Suzy! I enjoy upcycling though I would need to make enough flowers to fill the state of Texas to make a difference!
These are so pretty!! You would never guess they were made out of recycled plastic! Another craft for me and the kiddies! Thanks Mark!!
Happy you like them Nancy! The plastic does get a little hot when you melt it so be super careful...I'd put them in charge of the alcohol inks!
Hello Mark! I love this one...im a glass lover and anything that looks like glass as well. Love these glass like flowers!!!!! So beautiful! Also love that it upcycles something usually sent to landfill! Especially the dreaded plastic!
Good project
Have an awesome week! !
🍃🤗🍃
When I was doing research on plastics I was shocked at how much it's destroying the earth but at the same time, we need it for so many things. Ugh! Water bottles are the WORST! I've only ever bought 2 plastic bottles filled with water. I will not contribute to that disaster.
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark meeeee tooooo!!!!!
I don't even think there's any special rules or regulations for bottled water. It can be just tap water!!! Pointless to buy it...and the number of water bottles being produced is staggering and awful!!!!
🍃🤗🍃
I remember in some teacher’s art class I learned how to do this and I think I made a floral crown and earrings! This is super cool!!
We used 2 liter soda bottles. Thanks Mark!
Almost any plastic will work and it always looks so pretty!
This is so cute and easy. Love it!
Thank you! 😊
Love these flowers they are so pretty they look like glass

Have fun Amanda! Can't wait to see yours!
Hi Mark! Love this project and to think it all begins with plastics that are headed for the landfill. Those flowers are amazingly beautiful!
Salad containers, plastic bottles, milk jugs...all just headed for a landfill. I really wish there was something else we could do with all of that. Fences? Pave roads?
Mark, these are beautiful! I can see how you could get lost in this craft. Pretty mesmerizing.
I really love upcycling plastics...They're amazing and they bother me all at the same time. So good for so many things, but WOW do we need to find a way to repurpose them. I could go on and on and on my friend!
Beautiful. The flowers reminds me of artist Dale Chihuly glass flowered ceiling in the Bellagio in Las Vegas
Wow! That is such a beautiful ceiling, too! I hope you get to make some Jackie!
Brilliant use of plastic!!!
Hey Vicki! I love finding things to do with stuff we toss!

I am intrigued by the other possibilities in which this ink can be used!!! Do you have other project ideas using the alcohol ink? I would love to see them!! Much love… Blessed be Mark.
Definitely Lu! You can use it on metal quite easily...Wood, too for staining.
Hi Mark. I like this one too
Happy to hear it Ida! Have a great night!
Hi cutie patootie, those are beautiful. I have made the rolled beads with permanent markers and my heat gun but just have to make these. I hope you are safe and well my friend. Muah !
The beads are so fun to make, I love them, too!
Oh wow such a great idea 😊
Thank you Abby! I hope you make some! 😊
I can imagine those flowers swinging in the breeze hanging from the trees or above a picnic table.

Awesome idea
Hey Bonnie! Great to see you this morning!
Hi Mark❗️Now I know what to do with my plastic🤩😻❣️
There is so much of it, right Margaret!
Those are so pretty. I am trying really hard to get away from plastic.
You can do it! I'm trying, too but it's almost impossible. Salad containers, milk bottles, I'm constantly changing brands but it's hard to keep up.
Amazing
Thanks Julie! *follow me on Instagram if you're there, too. instagram.com/themarkmontano/reels/
These are so pretty! I wonder if I can use 2liters. Anyways, have a beautiful day Mark!
I think you can use whatever plastic that will warm and shape easily. Most will do the trick Lycinda! Happy Tuesday!
Hello Mark this is a great video I want to try this so pretty
Really happy you're inspired Liz! Happy Monday!
Those are beautiful Mark! Should they be sealed with something for outdoor use? Or are they fine as is? I'm thinking of my covered back porch. Thank you for sharing another fantastic creative idea for recycling plastic. ❤
Hey Taupey! I think you might want to seal them for long term outdoor use. Try a spray Minwax Polycrylic.
Hi Mark, these are so cool! Would acetate sheets work? I have a whole lot of them and I don't drink soda that much in those two liter bottles. Or have a lot of plastic lids.
Not sure about acetate but give it a try! You can use salad containers, anything that's made of plastic!
These look easy enough steps to take but could you show us more on how you shape the flowers, petals, and leaves
Jump in...you'll get it!
Thank you so much! I will have a budget wedding, and need fake flowers, and I can't even afford to buy fake ones, so I will do them myself recycling stuff. I have some months to do it!!
These will be beautiful at your wedding! *follow me on Instagram if you're there, too. I'm here: instagram.com/themarkmontano/reels/
Wow! Can you use any plastic? Really cool idea!
You can use most plastics but they warm at different temperatures so you have to experiment. Have fun and don't burn the plastic, just warm it a bit so you don't get any fumes.
Gorgeous! I wonder how big we could go? I’ve been wanting to make myself a huge Carrie Bradshaw/SATC flower pin for a while but could never get the fabric right. I like that this holds the shape so well
I'll bet this would work for that particular flower! When I was a fashion designer in NYC, Patricia Fields used many pieces from my collections for SATC! It was so exciting living in NYC while it was filming.
So beautiful m'ijo as. Always. Love ya
Just adore you Delfina! Have a lovely night!
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark I adore you too, sweet dreams
Love these Mark. Can you use any clear rigid plastic ? Some plastic feel different than others. Excited to try these!
You can use whatever plastic you can find. Most will work, some will melt faster than others so just experiment and make sure you're warming only...not lighting it on fire! You don't want fumes!
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark Thanks Mark!
Waw, Mark, me dañaste la mente! I never expected something so beautiful out of plastic, we all have plastic among us every day! Just a question: does this burning plastic with a candle makes any fumes? The candle will not burn outside with breeze, but inside my Husband is allergic to all kinds of smell, any suggestions? Maybe using a mask, he uses when we come out in public with the Pandemic, but anything else you think of to protect him? I want to do those gorgeous flowers for YESTERDAY! De verdad, me dañaste la mente con ese proyecto tan bello!!!
You could do it near an open window. I didn't melt the plastic as much as warm it above the flame until it was flexible. I didn't get fumes with this process but it might depend on the plastic you use and how close you get it to the flame. A cracked window might work with a tiny fan?
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark Thank you, you are the sweetest!
Your flowers are beautiful!!! and I LOVE up cycling and recycling. =)
The facts you shared were interesting. =)
Would the alcohol inks be "weather proof"? (can you use those outside?).
Not sure if they are weatherproof, but a nice sealing of a Minwax lacquer would be helpful to keep them safe outside.
Ok, Thank you. =)
WOW! Love it. Now if I can figure out how to make a shawl pin out of it. Any ideas? 🤗
Hey Deb! You can glue a pin back to it pretty easily.
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark Great idea. Thank you. They are so pretty!
If I use them outdoors, do I need to apply a spray coat of latex polyurethane?
Great question Cathy! Probably a good idea for anything that is subject to changing weather. BTW, I hope you'll join me on Instagram: instagram.com/themarkmontano/
Thank u do much!!! Really beautiful .can i use a plastic bottle that is transparent?
Absolutely! Use what you have. I colored these with alcohol inks so the bottles were initially clear plastic. Hey, find me on Instagram if you're there, too! I'd love to see you. instagram.com/themarkmontano/reels/
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark will connect with you .i'm just starting off on i stagram.
I love those Mark - sooooo pretty. FYI in response to your other viewer (Annette)- It's called Dip-A-Flower and I had it - and also, recently got one NIB from an Estate Sale - if you're bored (or have an extra 15 minutes, lol) here's a link to my unboxing vid: ruclips.net/video/yVXzmKz6AQQ/видео.html Now it's done with UV/LED resin dip - that's what I use now. Awesome! I'll check it out for sure!
I noticed you wore gloves for the magnetic ink but not for the cleaning with alcohol hope your hands are okay I've watched this video a couple of times or more because I want to do it finally thanks again and again and again
My hands are a mess most of the time. Oh well, it comes with the job.
