This needed to come before The Devil's Chord, then the "you don't run" would've felt more earned.

      Wouldn't argue with that.

When Pete said, "Moffatt. I love him and I hate him," I really felt that.

I'm loving these reviews, I only just started so imma have to go back to the beginning. The fact you're not going episode to episode is refreshing, this show is timey wimey of course it makes sense.

I'm thinking that Ruby is Susan's daughter or possibly granddaughter. She'll have the regeneration power and become the new companion.

Hmm nice theory and plausible enough for it to work as with Capaldi's iteration was said to be a reminder from that episode where he saved the Pompei guy so people they meet can inspire who they regenerate into so yeah again plausible and well the ambulance bot did say Ruby was over 3000 years old and i honestly thought we would see the Doctor do something at the end of the episode that reflects his wonder about what he heard on how old Ruby is.

@@dubstepzsi End of Space Babies the Doctor Initiated a Scan of Ruby in the TARDIS confirming she was just 19 years and 3 hours old (Christmas 2004-2023).
The Ambulance was specifically using "Calendar Age" for its Patients/Victims. Suggesting it was just using Historical Earth Records to ID her. They don't show how the Ambulance calculated her age but if it's using "our" Calendar years using the CE or AD scale "Boom" is just taking place some 3000 years in the future.

I don't hate it, but I feel this is becoming almost too obvious (to obsessive fans, anyway) that I only like it as a mislead.

I am superstion-free and am elated to see religious zealotry getting accurately described . Blind faith is a disease not any kind of blessing .

Really the best Religious Criticism in Dr Who was 1976 The Face of Evil or its original title The Day God Went Mad.

I hope nobody ever uses the Hand Mines because in my headcannon theyre not weapons, but a living race of gods who only showed on Skarro because of the significance of Davros and the Daleks

There are plenty of "on the nose," professions of religous faith for bloody centuries and everyone praises it. Well, Moffat's an atheist. It's about time people are able to be honest about what they truly think, lovely.

Is the algorithm on the randomizer a product of the Villengard corporation?
The Anglican Marines + Liz 10 as the Defender of the faith spinoff?....Ok probably not but I would be down for it. 😅
Are the mention of Susan and repeated talk of the Doctor as a father maybe hiding a reveal of who his daughter or son is? We never knew who Susan's family were or why she was in the care of her grandfather. This seasons theme definitely seems to be about parenthood and adoption.
I agree the twists aren't an actual twist. It's just a recurring cameo that will be meant to shock us but won't. It's a strange take on this theme, especially when you have to telegraph her appearance in each episode. And nothing will make me revisit Space Babies, certainly not a blink and you'll miss it cameo.
The tissue compression is very master. If this is another time lord who is family to the Doctor but also a villain, coukd it be Irving Braxiatel? Could he be the brains behind the Villumgard corporation? Would love this as a backdoor to an 8th Doctor or Bernice Summerfield spinoff.

Oh man, we really need to check the label on the Randomizer sometime. Look for any prominent "V"s.
We wouldn't mind getting into the Doctor's kids. That seems very possible. It seems clear the Doctor lost them some time ago (never explicit, I know), but there would need to be a lot of thought to the journey here to really make us care about these until-now nameless, faceless children. But RTD and Moffat could definitely do it.

@PullToOpen if it isn't family my next bet is it'd be either the moon or the presidents wife. Something related to the Cloister Wars and the Matrix having been abandoned on Gallifrey so essentially let loose. The Doctor is very cagey about this era.
