I'll be 52 in mid November and I'd give nearly anything to turn the clock back to the 80's and back to my teens. I recently saw a current pic of Billy Squier (LOVED Billy when I was a teen!!!!). "Grass is always greener over there"? No, the grass is greener where it's watered. This song, to me, is such a reminder to be thankful for what you already have. The story in these lyrics are sad but true. One person wants what the other one has, and the other is saying it's not all it's made out to be. Just goes to show you that envy and jealousy is counting someone else's blessings instead of your own.
This song is a great example of why music from the 80's was so good. It's music has that epic movie like feel and the lyrics have meaning. it's hard to find music now that makes you feel.

Have loved this song from the first time I heard it in HS,early 1980s. What he is trying to say,I Think,is that in the human condition people always think that others have it better than them. The grass is always greener, etc,in someone else's backyard. When in fact, they may be suffering or going thru things you have no idea about. It just looks to outward appearances like they are doing great. We never know what burdens others carry around. Very powerful message and song. And I am a metal head from way back. Black Sabbath,Judas Priest,Slsyer, etc. But good, powerful music is just that,no matter the genre. In my top 10 favorite songs. A masterpiece of meaning.
Love this song basically says don’t judge others until you walked in there shoes . Life’s been a roller coaster ride worked my whole life . Money comes and gos we should all take along hard look at our self and realize that we are all the same as one . For as one we can do any thing .

Play this song at your local bar or lounge and people will come up to you and ask you who it is. Why so many great songs like this one never end on the radio or more well known is a mystery to me.
Wouldnt it be good to be a teenager in the 1980s. Then I would have experienced this music. I wish I was a child of the 80s. Wouldn't it be good if we could go back to the 80s.
Time passes for you and I , Wouldn't that be good return to the 80s if just for one day.... those days are gettin further away..what a helluva ride we've all been on brothers and sisters
Wouldn't it be good if we could bring back the 80's? Even if it was just one day? Wouldn't it be good if there was a radio station that only played songs from 60's, 70's and the 80's?
No one seems to talk about what this song is actually about. It's clearly about someone who is uncomfortable in his own life and is jealous of another person's life thinking they have it better.
this was my personal anthem for 4 years, from 10 to 14. It's 4 decades later and I still like it. Even without the severe depression. Sometimes it is that bad.

The good old days.
Whew qw
I was 15 when this song make a hit! Until then I'm at 50, I'm still listening this song.. Perfect for my Driving music.. It makes me alive and relaxed. I love this song of Nik Kershaw..
My heart aches 💔 a girl can only dream... of the 80s that is 🥺

Venice!🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹1111.
I love this song. It was part of my childhood and it brings back memories
This song is so beautiful. I love Nik!
Nostalgy fm
Sirius. Just heard this song on 1st wave, perfect
There is a station WBET FM 99.3 SuperHits 60's 70' 80's catch it on Alexia or Tune in Radio app
Most people of my generation (I'm 18) prefer the 80's and 70's songs... to nowadays'. Great melody+rythmn, you couldn't ask for more...
thumbs up for this song! remembering my younger days...
My gf who was born in the 80tys are obsessed with the 80tys music and I can see why!

It’s 2024 and being an 80s born and bred I think I get this song even more in today’s world… wouldn’t it be good to be back in 80s shoes even if it was for one day 😢
classic 1984 track. still listening and enjoying this in april 2021.
...and the lyrics have so much meaning today with what's going on with the world - for example the middle class getting smaller and smaller 👀
One of my all time favorites! Miss this type of music….takes me back to so much better times in my life!

Wouldn't it be good if people still listened to this today?
