I didn't even know that the 156 GTA was also available as a sportswagon. Definitely the most beautiful wagon out there imo. Alfa simply has a way of building beautiful cars. Still looks fresh and modern even after all these years.
Reckon I bought the cheapest GTA sedan in Australia when I got mine 2 years ago for AUD$8,500 (~£4,000) with 220,000km on it. I've used it every day since including peak hour commute (70km/day), and now has done almost 260,000km. I had to spend about $4k to get it through inspection and licensed in my home state, but back on the road for total spend of under $13k was less than half the cost of the next cheapest at the time. Now, all prices start over $30k. It's been brilliant, and so far (touch wood!) has actually been cheaper to maintain than my prior two 156 V6s. Mine is a very early '02 GTA but has coilovers, Q2 LSD, custom exhaust, strut brace and the bigger 330mm Brembo upgrade. Best car I've owned in 35 years. They are even more rare in Oz - only about 100 were ever imported originally, and no wagons at all (a couple of grey imports have been brought in recently) - but there are at least 4 in my home city. Coincidentally, I also had to replace the info centre display and did the exact same swap with the same Chinese replacement - simple plug and play with no soldering. Just a bit of swearing...
@@iamandisykes thanks mate - absolutely. I intend to to hang on to it for good. I'll be watching for update vids on yours. Just watching the most recent one now.
You have my ideal two garage. I’m contemplating selling my boring Volvo and sticking an offer in for the black GTA Sportswagon AutoSportivo will be listing soon which they’ve just restored. Great vid and it seems like we’re not too far apart!
Thanks mate 🤟 oh I saw that black one at Shedfest, will be great to see it all restored. What Volvo do you have? I've a soft spot for Swedish cars too 😍
V60 T5 R Line. Got rid of a 535d touring for it (one headache after another that thing). The Volvo is good and shifts in a straight line but the handling is devoid of any feel. Probably due to the electric rack.
Please do. I had a Nice sporty C30 Volvo And then thought Volvo was Nice, but The next was a really boring Chinese Made v40 and I was like hey grandma! Sold it after lease period to buy this thing And I am in love With it ever since !
The Selespeed version of the 156 GTA is way more reliable than the TS/JTS version. People need to stop telling to avoid these Alfa's with automatic gearbox the maintenance can be done by yourself with a laptop and MultiEcuScan. I've have my 2004 Red 156 2.0 JTS Selespeed SW from 8 years and I will not sell it. Already make the mistake to sell my 2004 GT Coupé in 2020
Gorgeous GTA mate , beautiful example. That colour is sublime. I used to sell these when they were new , I was too young to have one as a demonstrator though , the boss wouldn’t let me 😂 I noticed you call it a Sportswagon , Ant from Autosportivo does this too , it’s actually just Sportwagon, but hey it’s just semantics 😂 I prefer the shape to the saloon , it looks like a shooting brake

I heard that parts are tricky to source for the auto system?
Parts are readily available. I have had my seven years plus Multiecuscan twice a year.@@iamandisykes

Thanks mate I'm well chuffed with it 😊 I wonder where I got the additional 's' does Saab call theirs a Sportswagon? Haha cheers ☺️
@@iamandisykes not sure about Saab but Kia call their C’eed the Sportswagon
You need some suction cup/ GoPro shots to show that paintwork off... Great video!
ahah great minds! you mean like this ruclips.net/user/shorts1bWt9FA6szk
Great video love your 2 car garage
Thanks mate appreciate it 😊
Hi. Can you tell me where you got the infotainment screen from please.
Hi mate sorry for the delay. Yeah I bought it from eBay from this seller www.ebay.co.uk/str/allwayautouk
Just checked and they have it listed as available on their US EBAY store here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264953090890
@iamandisykes amazing thank you. 👍
@user-fr3np6xt8m pleasure 👌
Getting that GTA for that money. You got all your Christmas presents in one go there.
Yup pretty happy with it, although I am thinking of selling it to fund another project 🤔
I am currently working on my 2.5 v6 24v. Which has similar faded red. Or I would be on your door step with a bag of cash.
@stephenbrookes7268 🤣 still undecided 😅 I quite fancy a 2.5 for my Mrs to nip about in 🙌
Alfa❤❤❤
One thing to be aware of with the Alfa 156 is to replace the cam-belt every 36,000 miles, not the official 72k. Otherwise, a fab car!
Yup good tip that, but is that for the V6 too? I know its this for the Twinspark but I thought the V6 intervals were longer?
Ready to scrap? Where I live this would still be considered a fair state car.
Did you see the images of the car before it was painted and the just removed in the video? 🤔
Overtake any suv man
😊🤟
