    Without prior knowledge on harp technique, picking is the most intuitive way for me. I prefer the flexibility of using my fingers over using a pick, but then a pick creates a solid sound that is hard to create with just your fingers. I've never heard of pinching until now. After trying it, I feel that pinching uses muscles I seldom use and it tires out my palm. To me, picking is the most comfortable method. =)

      How about "two notes pinching" (works best when high strings are closest to you like the harp so the right thumb is always playing the melody note)?
      e.g in key of C major:-
      G3+C4 for DO;
      B3+D4 for RE
      C4+E4 for ME
      D4+F4 for FA
      C4+G4 or E4+G4 for SO
      F4+A3 for LA
      G4+B4 for TI
      G4+C5 for Octave DO

    Thank you for sharing these lyre picking techniques! They’re really helpful. I’ve been playing ukulele and guitar much longer than harp and lyre, so picking feels more familiar to me. :-)

      Do you have a chromatic or diatonic? The steps should be very similar for diatonic, having more strings allows you to play more songs or add more harmonies. ❤️

    This style is comfortable and you can play it quickly if needed. I find it much easier than the plucking. Hope you will do more videos on each style to get deeper into the differences between them, techniques to get the most of it and produce a good sound, and what you can or cannot easily play with each. Thank you so much for these introductions ! I have found nowhere lessons like these to learn the lyre harp so it is a precious gift.

    Wonderful!! I just received my lyre harp and the important details such as not stiffening the hands to prevent future pain and descriptions of various lyres and ways of holding the lyres are more valuable to me than you know as a beginner!
