His instructions weren't working for me at all until I plugged it into my laptop, then it worked! Before, it was only powering on and off, then after reading everyone's comments I plugged my tablet into my computer with its usb charging cable. I let it install the drivers and do it's thing for a couple of minutes, THEN I followed his instructions and it worked like a charm -- reset as if right out of the box. Thanks to everyone for those helpful comments and the WorldofTech dude! PLUG IT IN :)

Thank you - I was not getting ANYWHERE until I plugged it into my PC! - 1st time to menu as soon as I did, even with lost PIN code. (IT Manager, got a staff unit back, they neglected to tell me they had changed the code)

If you forgot your pin i think the best thing to do is just wait till it turns off my its self (battery goes down)
> Power down phone.
> Connect USB cable to phone and PC.
> Wait until battery charge indicator % completes.
> Hold Power + Volume Up buttons until the Recovery Memu appears and release both keys immediately.
> Wipe Cache Partition OR Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
> Reboot System.

hold power button + volume down button until it turns off
I did the same steps without any luck, you have to plug it in your computers usb port and do the same power/vol up and it will go into recovery mode..

Mine did not reset as well. Samsung must have changed the process.
However I was able to do it this way (you need to be able to login though):
- Go to Settings (that gear icon at the top right corner)
- General Management
- Reset
- Factory data reset
- Click on the "Reset" button at the bottom and follow the remaining prompts.

another trick if you've only possibly got a corporate laptop not wanting to interfere, or no laptop at all... only prep kit you need is a usb-c to usb-c cable to plug it into the tablet and the other end into another phone; i've tested a Samsung and Nokia phone, both worked - just not with an open circuit without the device on the other end of the cable. doesn't work if it's just on charge either. and relax 2-3 ;-)
Thank you, I performed the instructions, I was able to perform the Wipe Data/factory reset, but I am still locked out because it booted to a Welcome, Let's Get Started Screen, I press next then I am prompted to join a wireless network; I enter our home WiFi and hit [Next] that another screen pops up to verify with either entering another Pin# or syncing with Gmail - I do not have the PIN/Gmail account that was synced with this (phone?): this is a A7 Galaxy Tablet, so I am assuming that someone synchronized a smartphone and google email with this tablet. How can I get passed this step?
took us 1 time to do it along with you! thank you so much! I forgot my pattern sign in and I reset and was able to sign in via google! we were stuck in a loop of 24 hour lock out. thank you for your post

@@Nalishforeveredits-nn i found the solution. plug the tablet in to pc. Let it setup driver automatically and when it's plugged try this proses again

AFter I hold down the power & volume up key, I do NOT get the same menu that you show here. The thing just seems to boot normally and I see my usual home screen.

Hold power button / volume up button and home button all at the same time , when the Samsung logo pops up keep holding the buttons until the blue screen pops up then you can let go , then the option to factory reset will show
@@DanaLou21 Yes I did that but later I found out that my tablet needed to connect to computer to start with. I am posting this for others who have same problem on hard reset. AS soon as I connect the tablet to computer and did what he instructed it worked. Thank you all for your kindness!!😊

I found out how to precisely do this without knowing a password. While device is on, hold power + volume down for 5 brisk counting seconds, screen should go black, then immediately switch finger on volume down to volume up for another brisk 5 second count, then release power button when you see Samsung logo begin to change the word on screen to just Samsung and a small boxy Android logo briefly in middle of the screen which leads to system menu. Timing is everything. Hold the power button too long, and the device resets to turn on normally again.

Anyone know how to fix the extremely fast screen timeout when at the logon screen? My Tab A7 only shows the screen for maybe 2 seconds before it goes black. I have to keep my finger on the screen moving in order to keep the screen alive just to input my password/login.
Also, the hold volume up + power button and releasing at the samung menu does not work for me. I've tried it several times, it still fully boots after letting go of the buttons.
I have the same exact problems and I've tried everything..

How do I clear other storage on a7 tab tried everything
Mine wont work. It seems stuck in a loop that never goes past the second Samsung screen. To turn it off I have to just let the battery die. When i turn it on it does the samsung with galaxy tab logo then goes to a black screen with a white samsung in the middle. Thats it. Turning it off in this state just resets it.
Only used this once, cant find help anywhere on this.

Last effort to try and salvage the tablet i tried to turn it on and it had a dead battery. Plugged it into my laptop and when the charging lighting bolt appeared immediately tried to turn it on into safe mode (power button & up volume untill logo screen) and it worked! I could wipe everything out and im using it again!!
Very tiny window to get it right the battery literally needs to be at 0 percent yet charging it seems.

I have a tablet from my lil sis that had the family link. I removed it from my account but it was still on the tablet and can't uninstall it. Which makes the tablet useless since I can't log in and can't dowload any app or do a factory reset.

Forgotten password. First of all, I need password to shutdown the A7 ! So I had to wait for battery to be empty... a few days. Then when I highlight "Factory reset", there is a warning : "If your phone is reset, you may need to enter the Google account information (email and pawword) associated with this phone to be able to use it again" ... !
