    A wonderful, inspiring walk Abbie of an area that I am yet to explore. So much to see, so difficult to find the words to adequately describe it. Great to see Glastonbury Tor. Thank you as always for sharing. Happy wandering. Paul :)

    Great to see you exploring the Mendips, Abbie and well done for finding free parking! It used to be about £2 cheaper in that main car park. That first ascent is, in my opinion, one of the toughest climbs in the entire range of the Mendip Hills. But, it's always worth it. :-)

    A lovely place to visit and a great walk although the viewing tower and Jacob's Ladder can get very busy during the summer. Your face when you tried the hot chilli chutney was a picture! Brilliant video.

    Hi Abbie, I'm new to your channel, but find you and your style of sharing your enthusiasm quite delightful. I used to do a lot of exploring, discovering and mountain hiking in North America and here in Europe, but am no longer able to, due to a disablement. Now living and working in Germany, I appreciate being able to discover new places thanks to folks such as you. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures! I'll be checking in often!

    Nice video Abbie and thanks for reminding me of the beauty of Cheddar gorge. I walked part of this just a few months ago in December 2017.

    Abbie, watching vids like yours, is as close to 'walking' as I'll ever get. I live close to Cheddar and know the village well. I enjoyed being 'with you' , and sharing the wonderful views. My darling, you are very competent as a guide, exude enthusiasm and encouragement. You deserve to have a much larger audience , say, on TV, there are several TV progs that could also benefit, from your regular contributions, like Country file.

      Hi Philip, thank you for your lovely comment. It's wonderful to be able to share these adventures with you. Im hoping we can reach more and more people each week as I travel around the UK exploring and sharing the beauty - thats the goal anyway! Thank you for your encouragement. Stay WILD! Abbie

    Enjoyed the video. Me and the wife did each side of the road on separate trips as we are just beginning to do more hill walks and hiking now we are in our 50s. We also found the initial climb tough as we are not used to it. But it was well worth it. Keep posting the videos Abbie!

    Great video. Was going to ask if you've ever been on the mendips and here you are =) The info boards must be new, don't remember seeing those when I was there. Have you ever been to Beacon batch and Rowberrow Warren? I must go there sometime, happy walking!

    Hi Abbie! Your video is great! I would like to climb the Cheddar gorge but I am a beginner in terms of hiking... How big is the walk (miles distance) and time ? Thank you!!

    • @AbbieBarnesWILD
      @AbbieBarnesWILD  6 лет назад +1

      Hi, thanks for watching and the comment! I think the route is many 5miles? I would say just go for it! Take it steady, give yourself time and enjoy it! There are some decent climbs, as you will have seen, but keep putting one foot in front of the other and before you know it you will be at the top a whole new, fulfilled person! Let me know how you get on!

    Due to Covid the caves are all closed and i wanted to take the walk actually. Will i be able access the trail and do they have Cycle parking space?

    • @tonymaries1652
      @tonymaries1652 4 года назад +1

      I live not far from Cheddar. All the paths Abbie walked are open and often quite busy at the weekend. Why do you need cycle parking space, you can always find a fence to lock your bike.

    Quite random to see signs in the UK in km not miles.... any idea why that is?

    Is Cheddar Gorge the source of all cheddar? If so I must go there and erect an altar. Are there any cheese shops in Cheddar? Do all the dishes served in Cheddar involve cheddar in some way--like bacon cheddar soup? Toasted cheese (with cheddar)? Beans and cheddar on toast? Beans, cheddar, cheddar and spam? Spam, spam, cheddar, baked beans, cheddar and spam?

    • @AbbieBarnesWILD
      @AbbieBarnesWILD  6 лет назад +2

      This is brilliant!! It certainly is its place of origin! Many of the caves have cheddar in them that is maturing and you can go and visit it! There are lots of cheese shops that mostly open in the summer, but as far as I'm aware no speciality dishes, but I actually might ask around about that!!!
