This abandoned honeymoon resort in Pennsylvania was built in 1967. The resort operated for 35 years until finally closing in 2002. The owners wanted to turn the property into an outlet shopping mall.
The resort was once well known for its indoor/outdoor swimming pools, indoor/outdoor tennis, ice skating, rolling skating, miniature golf, volleyball, golf driving range, fitness center, tanning beds, and more.
In 2008 the owners changed plans, and wanted to demolish the resort and build a 400+ room hotel and indoor waterpark. The plans fell through and it never happened.
In 2016 a plan was proposed to build a 48-bed acute care hospital and a two-story medical office building.
The project is still only in the planning stages, but demolition on the property has already begun.

TheUnknownCameraman Another amazing video :)
I've been watching your vids for a few weeks now and noticed you mostly shoot in the Tri-state of NY,NJ and PA. I read you never give away locations, but I was wondering if you ever want to Kings Park on Long Island? It's a pretty popular spot for Urban Exploring and pretty much everyone on the Island knows about it. You should check it out if you can. Back in college a student shot her photo project there, she even got on the roof. Mind you that was 7 years ago. I think they started demolishing parts of it since then. I'm sure you've been asked before I just figured I'd ask. Love the videos.
TheUnknownCameraman you sound like darth vader.....lol...
Hey fatty... go for a sleep study... you obviously have some kind of respritory problem.... while your at it... get a real job ... you grit!
Mute the volume dummy... nobody wants to hear your “artistic” heavy breathing
unknown cameraman, you're my favorite urban explorer. You are able to provide us some actual history about these structures (through text and visual images)
No exaggerated dialogue, no over the top click bait titles, just a quiet man giving us some history and a view of the building. Thank you for this great work!
DJBuckCallYo leaves a thoughtful comment. What happens next will blow your mind! (#7 is crazy!) (Found drugs!) (Haunted ?) [ALMOST DIED!] Thank you. I try to be informative and let the viewer have their own experience touring. Thanks for watching!
I Love that you leave it Raw & natural. Instead of forcing viewers to listen to music.
KINDLE **Indeed, raw and natural was this motel's main credo, followed closely by humiliation and regret, in that order.
I worked in the main dining room for a few weeks in the late 80's. The kitchen was so gross that I would gag from the smell of rotting garbage. The kitchen was like a dungeon. I had a hard time living with myself knowing I was serving food to unsuspecting guests. The dining room was set with fine linens and crystal glasses - what a shameful front. I was looking for a job and would have waited until I found a new one before leaving but the final straw came when I witnessed who I was told was the owner, kick a kitten really hard who was scrounging around the dumpster looking for food. I still hate that mofo.
If it lets you sleep easier, Deb, that was no cat, it was a rat, and that wasn't the owner, it was me.
Cool One anyone who kicks a rat deserves to die! I have pet rats, have for 20 years now, different rats and every one has been a precious little furry ball of love from Heaven.
Deb Morgan Meyers who were your co workers?
A Kayfabe They taste like chicken when sautéed in butter and served with a side of asparagus.
F*** that guy! Hope his life is crap now and 🙊💀 on the kitchen.
People complaining about his breathing or wind blowing, why don't you just turn the sound off? problem solved!
Kristi Carpenter too simple of an idea
Take the dang mask off there is air everywhere, THAT WAS SIMPLE...
Whoever put that hideous carpet around the jacuzzi has never heard of mold.
This is the 70's - tacky carpet was every - even in bathrooms
I don't understand why so many honeymoon resorts have such UGLY red carpeting.
Peacock Peas Dan Bell stayed in one that had arcade carpeting. That funky stuff that glows under black lights, and has a cosmic pattern to it...
@@ScammerStudio 😬😬😬😬😬
I've noticed about these abandoned places, that a lot of furnishings have been left behind by the previous owners, the owners could of sold all of this furniture, gym equipment and that piano for some money, but instead left all to rot in the building?? Why can't us human beings be useful instead of wasteful? Love your new video format UC!!
Bob Dewey I agree.
Bob Dewey i would love to go in and take some old chairs and lamps etc and fix them up, I love things like that
Who wants used hotel furniture that’s all been jizzed on? Pass.
I actually like hearing him breathing gives it a chilling effect
I'm born and raised in the Poconos, and have driven by this resort many times. I've always wondered what it looked like inside. Such a shame what happened to it. There's some really awesome architecture. Thanks for showing!
II was so relaxed, then I almost shit my pants when you punched that boxing bag!
Anyways, nice to see a place like this that's not heavily vandalized
pontiumGR Rule number one of boxing, partner swapping (aka "swinging"), and watching abandoned location videos: protect yourself at all times.
Glad to see a new one from you.
filmed by Darth Vader.
TheRattleSnake3145 Watched by a Wookie
Thats right,the fuckin legend!
I think Dan Bell was here but I like your up close views of chairs, old answering machine or that tape player and the piano among other things. great Job!
Yes he was but he wasn't in the gym and the indoor mini golf.
Wow this might be your best video yet, beautifull edit and camera work on thiso one!
Also great sound choice! keep it up man!
Very well done as usual. I enjoy your videos more than most all of the others of this genre'.
You're very informative and we aren't bombarded by constant, inane chatter as you explore.
Looking forward to the next one!
Instant-Classic my friend! Everything was on point! Slainte!
Thanks bud! Stay smokey!
I think this was one of the best abandoned property videos I've seen.
love this resort! Super cool vid
Amazing place dude. Wished I wouldve explored that with you!
Great Footage, the drone shot in the beginning is sweet.
Keep up to awesome footage.
Great find, amazing place i would love a find like that. Love that flock wallpaper.
Love your video's.....Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you!
the intro was amazingg it gave me the chills
Isabel .-. Agree. When I saw that New Years party top hat with the rotten banana on it at 6:35 minutes, I went to pieces.
Great video, this was one hell of a find. I live less than an hour away from here and would love to explore it on my own.
Awesome video keep it up!
Great explore. I found this video very interesting to watch. This place looks like it was a nice place to go when it first opened. All that waste is erie and sad.
Nice explore, hope they build something nice after demolition.
Very interesting videos I love it! I wish I could explore abandoned places like this we don't have much of anything around here. But in Arizona I explored a mansion everyone claims is haunted it was still full of antiques and really neat stuff that was exciting
An interesting place to see and explore, ^8^ Thanks for the video!
Thanks for sharing!
Wow I was there in the early '80's
great explore mate
I remember we went there in the early 80s and the decor seemed tacky. We went to the bar for a few drinks and to relax. There was a guy on that piano (notice the wooden platforms on each side for tip jars) playing desperately loud. There were a few couples who must have been 'swingers', because they were working the room like mad. Gross, fat and sweaty people. There were nice walking trails in the woods though.
yakk13 That's pretty much what I pictured.
"Gross, fat and sweaty people"
Ah, yes. The Philadelphia crowd. .
I'm sorry for your experience. I had a great time there: I met my wife. She was the head cocktail waitress. 🍒🥃 As a matter of fact, she served me my first high-ball.
For the record, she's not fat or gross. Sweaty, yes. But not fat or gross.
Interesting explainer for those of us too young to have ever heard of such a thing: www.racked.com/2015/6/5/8734965/my-girlfriend-and-i-spent-our-six-month-anniversary-at-a-poconos
I remember this place back then, wife and I stumbled on a room with 7 guys doing one wife in there, my wife ended up giving a few guys BJ's there
Thanks for your work.
At beautiful Mount Airy Lodge lol. This is amazing.
This is an absolute time capsule of the 1970's. I cant imagine going there on my honeymoon in the year 2000 and walking into this Brady Bunch decor nonsense! I'd go in there and ask for my money back. Now it looks cool and vintagey but to pay full price to stay there in the 1990's and cringe must have been hilarious. Part of it should be preserved into a museum it is so genuine.
Fascinating!
Newlywed diner: We'd like a Honeymoon Salad.
Waiter: What's a Honeymoon Salad?
Newlywed diner: Lettuce alone and no dressing.
GREAT VIDEO THANKS FOR SHARING
Great Video, would be interesting to see a Video of it operating in its hey day
Video perfect!
very well done and interesting video.
Thanks for sharing..
I love this place been multiple times
I came multiple times, too.
Stayed here in the late 90s. The place was in decline. Mount airy Lodge was closed and the only rooms were Pocono gardens which were the brown rooms you were in at the end. Most of the recreation was closed and the pools and everything were in decline.
wow flocked wall paper..its like someone swallowed the 70's and threw it on up in there..LOL but great job guys.. i realize others have explored this place as well but you did a great job and i like the new look to the information provided on the vids..please keep releasing new material i enjoy urban exploring videos and love your channel.. :)
great editing, no music needed!
I feel like part of you gets left in places like this. The memories the time spent, you could have had the greatest night of your life in this place and been the man for one night. Now it’s gone, is part of you gone with it? I can’t remember the name of the place my grandparents and I used to stay in the Poconos but I can remember the smell I took part of that place with me and the longing I have to bring my child to the same place today remains. A part of my soul stays there forever. Such majestic places never truly die in our hearts. I only wish that I spent more time soaking in the memories with my family, rather than being obsessed with with big buck hunter in the arcade that my grandfather had no problem feeding quarters into. Cherish your time in places like this you never know when it will be gone.
Sad I stayed there back in the 90’s.. I have photos of the trip. Really Rather disgusting as to what happened to that resort with everyone’s great memories
I cant imagine how many abandoned places there are like this across the planet , everything just left there. I dont understand why the owners of any such places dont just auction off the contents and sell it or have it demolished . Maybe they were sued or it lost its popularity , maybe its decor became dated and family vacations became less popular or maybe it was economics or all of the above.
awesome video! I would love to see this place for myself. Is it still there? I heard there were plans to tear it down soon.
Is that over in Cresco area towards PM. I lived over there and drove by that spooky place all the time wondering what it looked like. I found few other cool spots over round there. Erick Frein was not far from all that area actually too. Ty for the vid
I think Dan Bell was here too
Nice explore dude, it's seen some vandals but some of it is still in good shape! 👍
You're welcome to live in the good shape part.👍🏿
I wish I could go back to those days . when everythin was simple
Everythin except turning a profit on a swinger's club, apparently.
To your responses regarding your ambient sounds: People enjoy the ambient sound without the wind tunnel breathing.
GreenAppelPie Then stick a clothespin on your snout and get in there and record it your way.
1:14 in and loving the editing...
Lexington! The music during Dinner.
The respirator has him sounding like Darth Vader :)
What kind of weaponry do you carry when exploring?
OMG- This video scared the crap out of me. It seems like the place is haunted now!!
Those wing back grey/silver bar chairs 4:02 would be worth some money today. So sad to see stuff like that wither away.
This place is haunting.
Hey, do you know if you can still get in this place? Let me know, thanks!
The good old Summit Resort. I was there about a year-and-a-half ago and they were getting ready to tear the place down and make some type of medical office there I do believe. Only thing I can say if you go there in the summertime watch out for all those damn ticks in the woods
This place is fantastic! The showroom alone has a total David Lynch or Tarantino vibe. The motel, pool, showroom should be restored faithfully to the early 70s. I assume it has been already torn down. Fools.
I'm wondering if they ever pocket anything really nice (and not deteriorated) when they explore. I kept seeing so many things that can still be sold for a pretty penny, like those gold colored sconces.
Nope. I know it's silly to say its wrong to steal, after trespassing yes, but no. At times I almost regret it but, nah I'm good stealing. Plus, if we were to get stopped it would be much worse to have a backpack full of goodies instead of just camera equipment. Not worth it.
thanks camera guy..
Wpw! what an amazing find. Never seen or heard of this place. looks like you got there in time before demolition started. Sounds like from your research this place had a lot of history. Any idea why there was no more buisness? Was it not cool to go there anymore? management?
That thing at 11:43, how does that even work? How do you even use one of them? o.o
we spent our honeymoon here in 2000 and came back in 2002 they then closed that october
Tracie Edmiston Lemme guess, Tracie...you have children aged 17 and 15. 😉
Ha nope try 26-23 year old kids
There were a lot of vintage things that could be salvaged.
Sadly you left you finger print on the cassette player and blew your cover 😎
Pawel33007 There's been many things blown at this resort over the decades, but blowing one's cover has never occurred here.
😝
@@Burps___ haha!! :D
Had my honeymoon there as well in '95.
Pretty sure it was falling apart back then too...
Weird it closed in 2002 but the files show 2006?
Wasn't this place featured in Weird Pennsylvania?
this place is amazing why did they close it
Wow, I live 2 minutes away from there
That would be so cool! I would go there all the time
Why is it still standing and not torn down?
Like something out of a movie
Great video unknown, don't mind some people
Would love to see the lot where mansion burned in New Jersey. Was it arson?
My grandparents stayed here for there honey moon and I saw the pics they took
sing us a song you're the piano man sing us a song tonight
lol
Naw, that's just irritable bowel.
Where did everything one go?
Boy: Grandpa, how did we get our Indian tribal names?
Gpa: I named you children by the first thing I saw right after you were conceived.
Boy: So, my sister, Little Fox?
GPa: That night, I spotted a tiny fox running through the woods.
Boy: Oh, I get it. And my brother, Eagle Wings, you must have seen an eagle.
Gpa: That's right. One with giant soaring wings.
Boy: I understand now. Thank you, Grandpa.
GPa: You're very welcome, Broken Rubber.
The summit? This is where my dad worked.
Boards on deck are mostly rotted away, yet you step on them.
GreenAppelPie Only to irritate you.
Sad seeing that piano sitting there. Must sound awful after almost 2 decades of being left there.
Das_Bass When the skeletons tickle the ivories each night, it's still in tune.
Woa did you see those magazines I bet those couples were doing it ! A lot ! Except for that one old dude he probably tried but hey like trying to put a marshmallow in a piggy bank .
Caesars Brookdale?
Is this Mt Airy?
is this in the Pocono Mountains??
Jeffrey Kane Yes, its in the Poke A Nose. (see what I did there).
Awesome place, too bad this we be demolished. :(
I think Dan Bell went here last year
That was this one. It's where they started in the video. Looks like some people have been here since Dan Bell was here.
Who is Dick Horner, if you don't mind me asking
Kevin Dyer Dan did a much better job, IMO.
Kevin Dyer He did, it was part of a series ...dead motel series but it was categorized in a sub-series called Pocono Resorts.
Vincent Priceless Better job? Dan never laid a finger on my wife, actually.
hell yeah, in room jacuzzi
dogmeat301 Just think of how many "cocoa swirlies" were performed in that Jacuzzi from 1967-2002. It boggles the mind, to be honest.
2002 and they still had decor from the 70's ? lol
you should go to alaska and hawaii i dont think you covered those yet
On the Big Island in Hawaii there was an abandoned resort I came across at the black sand turtle beach.
Nor have they yet covered Greenland or Zimbabwe.
those sound like some good locations if he goes to Zimbabwe I hope he does not get mauled by hyeanas as happy as pigs in the mud on a bed because the person who makes these videos is really good at it
I honeymooned there in1991.. It was nice...
The Kroger grocery store I worked at in the 80's had those same old NCR cash registers
Aren’t you lucky.
The first time I tried explaining a bend in place with my friend he got arrested for not really rested we went home and squad cars somebody called the cops on us
