I was 9 years old In September 1948 and was lucky enough to visit the then new 'electric' signal box in Lime Street. I was with my uncle, who was an engine driver at Huddersfield. The signalman allowed me to pull some of the short levers and then took me to the window to see a steam train entering Lime Street station which I'd signalled in. Happy days!
Excellent video again Gordon, at least they're making an effort this time on the heritage side by keeping the building and the frame , unlike the vandalism they done on the Blackpool line.
Excellent video Gordon! Enjoyed watching it. A fantastic signalbox to visit which I was lucky to do a couple years back when it was still operational. The signalbox would make a superb cafe and viewing gallery. Keep up the excellent work on the videos!
i remember going on a visit to Edge Hill Power Box and Lime Street Box in 1964/65 with the Leeds University Railway Society. It just shows how the miniature lever box was so ahead of it's time that it has only just been replaced
I thought this video would be uploaded next week, but quite surprised it was uploaded today, great video about the Lime Street signal box and like the intro as well
Another fantastic video. Thank you. It was worth waiting for and reflects your excellent relationships with Network Rail (and in other videos, Northern Rail).
Lime Street! My local station! I should've been going there tomorrow to go to London but I've had to go to South Parkway instead. It re opens the day after we go. Love the new intro btw! I keep on replaying it lol.
Hi it's nice too see upgrade to the railway system brings more modern times ,makes it easy to get around north to south and west for travel kev philipines
excellent video nodrog great as always keep up the great work its so sad that all these signal boxes are going its stupid putting all the signalling at manchester they should keep the old signal boxes least there is someone in them watching for problems that could happen its going to be harder for networkrail to get track maintenance done.
mian network signal boxes might be a thing of the past at least heritage line ones still stand and at least ive got pics of settle junction signal box main network wize
Hey nodrog would you be able to answer my question. Why doesn't York to Blackpool north trains by northern run anymore but instead terminate at Preston?
Jingle jangle jingle. First written about eight years ago then Covered by a few artists in the 50s and 60s. This is a remix version but there is also a version in the 40s that was very popular.
What a privilege to be invited there. It is a pity to see all at vegetation on the walls. Left unattended, the roots will damage the integrity of the structure

Potential career developing here Gordon , as the public face of Network Rail. I hope so !!

Glad you didn’t get chucked off this time!
The staff and NR are all good. Think that time the staff member were worried about any back lash.

Cheers John. Takes a while to find. 👍
Gordon, for your soundtracks, just one suggestion; "Fylde thing"? or maybe that's my humour striking again?
