OMG. What a time machine, what nostalgia. This is amazing. I watched Blue Peter without fail and would have been 11 years old when this went out turning 12 in the October. John Noakes, Peter Purvis and Valerie Singleton were my favourite set of presenters... Thank you so much for posting this.

Imagine, Fulham having one of their players playing on a pich like that let alone Liverpool or Man City, Blue Peter or not.

Lordy this takes me back ! I would’ve been 5 when this was aired. The entire nation of kids would tune in to Blue Peter. To say it was popular is one ginormous understatement. This program was massive - with millions upon millions tuning into every episode. The famous ‘Elephant Scene’ is utterly hilarious.
Poachers and big game hunters can never be forgiven for bringing those majestic animals to near extinction. I for one will NEVER take my boot 🥾 off those bastard’s necks ! Hope they all die horribly. The way mankind has always failed in this regard is just abhorrent and sad enough to bring many many tears of sadness, frustration and hopelessness. Something just has to give because a world 🌎 without Elephants and other endangered species - is a world of enormous loss and unmitigated sadness. Please I beg who reads this - do all you possibly can to help protect the one’s who are scarcely left on this planet 🌎
Thanx for your time - really appreciate it. Cheers. Rxx

I was four years old when this first aired, exactly 51 years ago today. I really enjoyed watching Blue Peter, right up until 1979 when I turned fifteen. It was a different age, more innocent and far less complicated than life today. So glad to grow up back then. ☺

I think the best episode was when they made an airgun from a toilet roll cardboard. John Noakes went out and shot sparrows, pigeons, kids and pensioners. Great tv in those days! Oh, and Valerie Singleton always managed to flash her pants for a second or two every week.
