    I’m confused because 10oz is 283 grams not 100 so please explain maybe I’m slow 🤦🏾‍♀️and I thought we were going to learn how to convert things like cups and ml into the percentages...that’s the biggest problem for newbies

      Hi BLASIANDOLL93. Sure no problem. I am not equating 10 oz to 100g. I am just saying that if you do use g, stick to multiples of 100 as that will be easier for you t deal with as far as calculations. 100 g is a reasonable small batch testing amount. for something like a conditioner you may want to scale it up to 200g. It is just for ease of converting the percentages to actual measurements, love. Does that make sense? Hopefully it does. Thanks for asking this question. Maybe someone else is wondering the same thing so now this question and answer is there to help them. Peace and blessings.

    I have a horrible back-ass-wards hack I use for percentages.
    Because I am usually flying by the seat of my panties, I first make my formula, weighing & noting every ingredient as I go.
    Then, I take this jenky old flip-phone I have from, idk, 1993? that has a 'figure out your tip' function, or your cost portion of a shared meal. First, I use the regular calculator function & add up each weight of each ingredient until I have a gram total. Then, if an emulsion, I add the lipids total, note that, then the 'waters' total.
    Then, I flip over to my 'tip calculator' & type in the entire formula's gram total where you would type the whole cost of the meal. Then, going through my whole recipe, item by item, sometimes having to ballpark guess at first, I type in percentages (guesses), then narrow it down til I'm as close as I can get & then, record these percentages on my final recipe card, next to each ingredient, right next to the amount I used of each item.
    What of course sucks about this method, is not being able to add a specific active at a correct usage rate, not to mention that just every damn thing about this is as wrong as you can be. This 'work-around' has been a source of unending despair for me. All because I can't read or use a regular calculator that has a percentage function on it, which I have! But Idk how!! & I'm 47yrs old!
    Thanks, Eden, for your much more sensible approach!
    Muchlove, suki

    Can you do a percentage for making a big batch in a 3000ml beaker

    • @EdenCroft
      @EdenCroft  4 года назад +1

      Kimbers Blendz - you would do the exact same thing as I demonstrated here. You would just create your formula on the left hand column, then calculate (google if you are bad at math) - 30% of 3000, 6.5% of 3000 etc - Does that make sense?
